Abstract In buildings, each component contributes to resisting seismic forces and an important part in this activity are the masonry walls composed of: fired clay solid brick of 120 mm width and horizontally perforated clay blocks of 100 mm and 150 mm width. The main focus of this research is to determine the flexural strength of the horizontally perforated clay block-mortar joint, using different types of mortar as established in the “Reglamento Colombiano de Construcion Sismo Resistente” for four suppliers used in the municipality of Ocaña, Colombia. A semi-automatic machine that takes into account the physics in the application of loads was designed to carry out the flexural test in mortar-block joints. The average flexural strength in mortar-block joints was determined for three types of mortar corresponding to 0.219 MPa, 0.232 MPa, and 0.291 MPa respectively, for the municipality of Ocaña, Colombia. This research established a direct relationship between the compressive strength of the mortar and the flexural strength of the 100 mm wide horizontally perforated clay mortar-block joint. A physical comparison was made in terms of the compressive strength of the prism and the flexural strength of the clay mortar-block joint with that obtained by other researchers in India and found quite similar results.

With the development of linguistics and the improvement of computer performance, the effect of machine translation is getting better and better, and it is widely used. The automatic expression translation method based on the Chinese-English machine takes short sentences as the basic translation unit and makes full use of the order of short sentences. Compared with word-based statistical machine translation methods, the effect is greatly improved. The performance of machine translation is constantly improving. This article aims to study the design of phrase-based automatic machine translation systems by introducing machine translation methods and Chinese-English phrase translation, explore the design and testing of machine automatic translation systems based on the combination of Chinese-English phrase translation, and explain the role of machine automatic translation in promoting the development of translation. In this article, through the combination of machine translation experiments and machine automatic translation system design methods, the design and testing of machine automatic translation systems based on Chinese-English phrase translation combinations are studied to cultivate people's understanding of language, knowledge, and intelligence and then help solve other problems. Language processing issues promote the development of corpus linguistics. The experimental results in this article show that when the Chinese-English phrase translation probability table is changed from 82% to 51%, the BLEU translation evaluation system for the combination of Chinese-English phrases is improved. Automatic machine translation saves time and energy of translation work, which shows that machine translation shows its advantages due to its short development cycle and easy processing of large-scale corpora.

Assessment of interpreting quality is a ubiquitous social practice in the interpreting industry and academia. In this article, we focus on both psychometric and social dimensions of assessment practice, and analyse two major assessment paradigms, namely, human rater scoring and automatic machine scoring. Regarding human scoring, we describe five specific methods, including atomistic scoring, questionnaire-based scoring, multi-methods scoring, rubric scoring, and ranking, and critically analyse their respective strengths and weaknesses. In terms of automatic scoring, we highlight four assessment approaches that have been researched and operationalised in cognate disciplines and interpreting studies, including automatic assessment based on temporal variables, linguistic/surface features, machine translation metrics, and quality estimation methodology. Finally, we problematise the socio-technological tension between these two paradigms and envisage human–machine collaboration to produce psychometrically sound and socially responsible assessment. We hope that this article sparks more scholarly discussion of rater-mediated and automatic assessment of interpreting quality from a psychometric-social perspective.

With the increasing expansion of virtual reality application fields and the complexity of application content, the demand for real-time rendering of realistic graphics has increased sharply. This research mainly discusses the intelligent mosaic method of virtual reality Lingnan cultural heritage panorama based on automatic machine learning. In order to effectively make up for the impact of the insufficiency of the collection process on the quality of the final panoramic image of Lingnan cultural heritage, it is necessary to minimize the irregular rotation of the camera and collect images according to the overlapping area between adjacent images of appropriate size. In order to make Lingnan cultural heritage panoramic images have better visual effects, it is necessary to preprocess the images before image registration and fusion. Image preprocessing mainly includes image denoising and image projection transformation. In this study, cylindrical projection is used to construct the panorama of Lingnan cultural heritage. For each Lingnan cultural heritage training image, we first perform image segmentation to obtain multiple regions and extract the visual features of each region. We use automatic machine learning models to train the visual feature set and use the bagging method to generate different training subsets. In order to generate each component classifier, we determine the overlap area of the two images according to the matched SIFT feature points and determine the best stitching line during the implementation of stitching. In this paper, the number of pixels in the first row of the overlapping area is used to determine the candidate stitching line column, and the best stitching line position should be determined in consideration of the smallest color difference in the stitching area and the most similar texture on both sides. This article uses a Java Applet-based approach to realize virtual roaming of viewing panoramic images of Lingnan cultural heritage in IE browser. The highest accuracy of SIFT is 82.22%, and the lowest recognition time is 0.01 s. This research will promote the development of Lingnan cultural heritage.
