A novel multi-dimension and structure element edge-detection based on mathematical morphology is presented to resolve blur problem of classical morphology when detecting an edge to reduce the noise but hard to preserve the details and edge information of the original image effectively. First,pretreatment of the image are completed by close-open operation to eliminate noise; second,do close operation to smooth image,in the end,using the operation of morphological gradient for smooting image,the ideal image edge under the environment of existing noise is obtained,and it is applied to detect the edges of welding pore images. The experimental results show that it is compared with classical Sobel operators,Canny operators and traditional edge detection algorithm, the proposed algorithm has the following distinguished advantages:accuracy of edges detected, a clear outline of the image, and can preserve more image details as well, and insensitive to noise.

In this paper, we put forward a kind of adaptive edge detection algorithm of Gabor filter for silk product broken filament image. Use different directions’ Gabor filter to respectively get the broken filament image edge information. Using the method proposed in this paper to fuse the edges adaptively obtained from different directions Gabor filter, we obtain ideal image edges, and effectively eliminate the noise, also enhance the fuzzy edges at the same time. Experimental results show that the algorithm for silk products processing is effective, and the broken filament detected is clear.

An improved morphological edge detection algorithm for silk products jumpers and connectors’ test was proposed. With structure elements of different models, we detect the edge information in different directions of silk products respectively; using the proposed adaptive fusion method based on histogram matching, we can obtain ideal image edge, while enhance the blurred edges, and effectively eliminate the silk products inherent texture and noise, then detect the clear jumpers and connectors.

Traditional edge detection operators such as Prewitt operator, LOG operator and Canny operator, etc. cannot meet the requirements of the modern industrial measurement. This paper proposes a kind of image edge detection algorithm based on improved morphological gradient. It can be detect the image using structural elements, which deals with the characteristic information of the image directly. Choosing different shapes and sizes of structural elements to use together, the ideal image edge information can be detected. The experimental result shows that the algorithm can well extract image edge with noise, which is clearer, and has more detailed edges compared with the previous edge detection algorithm.

In order to solve the shortcomings of traditional Sobel edge detection operator, such as low accuracy of image edge location and rough edge extracted, an improved edge detection algorithm based on Sobel operator is proposed. Firstly, in the aspect of the accuracy of edge detection, the direction template is increased from two directions of horizontal and vertical to eight directions; secondly, in terms of the rough edge extracted and the noise sensitivity, combined with the operation of mathematical morphology, the edge can be refined, and at the same time, some part of the noise can be suppressed. The experiment results show that the improved edge detection algorithm has a better accuracy in image positioning, and a certain ability to suppress noise. Finally, the detected image edge of the image is more delicate and clear than the traditional Sobel operator.

We proposed an improved mathematical morphology edge detection algorithm, aimed at the significance of car location in car license plate recognition system. The first step is the true color image pre-processing, an improved mathematical morphology edge detection algorithm is used to detect the edge of the car image and after the image binarization, the morphology method is used to fill the image, and then get the candidate area after corrosion expansion after open operation. Then, according to the area of the candidate region than the circumference and vertical projection used in comprehensive analysis, the license plate area can be located accurately. The experimental result shows that the method is an effective anti-noise car plate lisence location algorithm.

Airport runway debris detection decides security of plane and passengers. The relative merits of the various types of sensor and the effects of adverse environmental conditions on their performance, a novel fuzzy weighted morphology algorithm of detection about runway debris is approved. The experimental results show that the proposed algorithm, compared with a few classic algorithms of edge detection, which can achieves the image edge precisely and reduce noises, better retain the image details, and adaptively detect the complete and successive edges.

The image edge detection algorithm is one of the most important steps in the image processing, however, while the large amount of data is need to be dealt with in the detection process, it is difficult to meet real-time requirements by using the software method. In order to improve the speed of digital image processing, An embedded processing systems based on FPGA (field-programmable gate array) detection algorithm is proposed, which takes corrosion expansion algorithm of mathematical morphology as its theoretical basis to achieve the task of image edge detection, experiments result show the method is effective and feasible, and meets the real-time requirement of the image processing.
