Research on the Heating Plan of Recovering Condensing Heat of Power Plant by Water Source Heat Pump Unit

This paper analyses the energy consumption of water source heat pump, shows that the performance coefficient of water source heat pump unit is directly related to the temperature of water resources, and discusses the feasibility of central heating by recovering condensing heat of power plant using water source heat pump unit. It analyzes the energy saving benefit of water source heat pump unit is significant compared with traditional heating. Using the technology recovers waste heat of power plant, which can not only decrease the energy waste on the direct discharge of waste heat and water, but at the same time, it is a new air conditioning system without environmental pollution.

The concepts of developing efficient and reliable schemes for the use of waste heat of low-potential energy resources in heat transformers (HT) are considered. Examples of using HT in several non-ferrous metallurgy plants in Russia and Kazakhstan are given: the production of nickel, zinc and ferroalloys. In the case of nickel production, two schemes are proposed for consideration: for summer and winter modes. The main object of study is a nickel production scheme using a lithium bromide absorption chiller (AbCh). Recycled water is the main source of utilized low-grade waste heat for AbCh. The cold obtained in AbCh is necessary for the technological process. The basic parameters were calculated under various extreme conditions, the energy effect of the modernization of the circuit was estimated, and equipment was selected. Studies have shown the feasibility of introducing AbCh into circuits with a large amount of waste heat. Low-grade heat utilization of nickel production using heat pump unit (HPU) in winter allows to obtain heat energy for heating water from the heating network and raw water for feeding the boiler house of a thermal power plant.Another example of HT use is a heat pump unit (HPU) in the production of zinc and ferroalloys. HPU is designed to heat feed water before chemical water purification and at the same time “cool down” the circulating water, which is then used on a series of electrolysis, replacing purchased artesian water. In winter, the heat produced at HPU is used for heating, ventilation and hot water supply, which allows to dispense with the services of a third-party thermal power plant.

TEWI (total equivalent warming impact) index, a comparatively scientific method to evaluate the environmental impact of air-conditioning cold and heat source, is introduced. Taking some engineering in Hunan Province for example, the TEWI analysis was performed on the environmental impact assessment of four air-conditioning cold and heat source plans. Also the first investment and energy consumption were analyzed. The results indicate that: water loop heat pump unit, due to investment recovery period with only 2.9 years and carbon emission reduction up to 22.68%, has significant economy and environmental protection, which is followed by water source heat pump; the screw chilled water units plus gas boiler is poor. Gas direct-fired machine has certain economic advantage, but its environmental performance is general. Among four schemes, the proportion of indirect effects of CO2emissions from fossil fuels used to generate energy to operate the equipment throughout its lifetime are all larger, respectively is 95.1%, 95.2%, 100% and 89.9%. It fully showed the importance of developing clean and renewable energy, reducing energy consumption and increasing performance coefficient of refrigeration and air conditioning device.

In the summer of 2014, the air-conditioning performance of four different snow-utilizing facilities in Niigata and Nagano Prefectures in Japan were evaluated. Systems with a snow storeroom, a rice depot and spa resort, showed the advantages of stable and flexible air temperature control with high deodorizing and dedusting effects. The investment will be earned back in less than 10 years. The system with a snow mound, shiitake mushroom greenhouses, showed that the annual cost is cheaper than that of the heat pump unit. A highway lavatory with daily snow delivery was not cost effective.

It is the new way of the thermal power plant energy conservation to recycling plant circulating water waste heat for heating with the heat pump technology. The recovery of low temperature waste heat is the background. And lithium bromide absorption heat pump is the object of this study. The impact of changes in temperature parameters on the performance of heat pump unit is analyzed. As a theoretical basis for the design of the heat pump system and power plant heat pump unit’s optimal operation provide a reference. The result provides a theoretical reference for the optimal operation of the heat pump system design and power plant heat pump units.
