For flexible 3D positioning of a complex 3D mechanism, it is needed to measure 3D displacement of the end-effecter of the mechanism in high precision and by non-contact method. It was common to use plural sensors or scales together to measure the 3D displacement. However, it is difficult to calibrate the sensitivities of the plural sensors or scales. A novel 3D displacement measurement is proposed using an optical system in which lens focuses are collected at the center of the sphere, which has been used for the radius measurement of the sphere. Instead of facing in the XY direction that has high sensitivity, new ideas are necessary for the measurement in the Z direction of the optics where focuses are collected at the center of the sphere. The displacement in the XY direction and the one in the Z direction can be measured at the same time by using a ring-shaped laser beam instead of a simple ray.

Up to now, in the traditional biomedical paradigm the terms "sex" and "gender" have either been used synonymously and the insertion of gender among the determining elements of conditions of wellbeing/disease has been difficult, and obstructed by disciplinary rigidities that retarded the acceptance of an approach which had already been largely found to be valid in other areas of research. The effected simplification demonstrated its limitations in describing the theme of health; but if, on the one hand, there has been a growing awareness of a subject which can in no way be considered "neutral", on the other hand there continues to be insufficient attention, both in theoretical analysis and in empirical research, given to female differences. The article is intended to support that the sick individual is a person, with his/her genetic heritage, his/her own cultural acquisitions and personal history, and own surrounding life context; but these and similar factors have not traditionally been taken into consideration by official medicine and welfare systems, despite a hoped-for socio-health integration.

Crude oil as one of the main sources of energy is also the main source of income for members of OPEC. So, the volatility of crude oil price is one of the main economic variables in the world and analysis of the effect of its changes on key economic factors has been always considered as significant. The reason might be the high sensitivity of oil price to political, economic and cultural issues worldwide and consequently its volatility on the one hand, and the high influence of the volatile prices on macroeconomic variables. On the other hand, for different reasons such as oil price volatilities and income from oil export, economic planners and policy makers in Iran have been mainly focused on the promotion of non-oil exports especially during the last few decades. Therefore, methanol as one of the most commonly used petrochemical products has a high potential for production and export of non-oil products in Iran. For this reason, in the present study there was an attempt to examine the relationship between the prices of Iran’s crude oil and methanol using FIGARCH model and based on the weekly time series data related to the research variables. The results of the study showed that the long memory parameter is equal to 0.32 which is meaning the shocks caused by volatility of methanol market and crude oil price to the methanol price were lasting and meaningful and were revealed in the long term.

There is a growing interest in the relative benefits of the different social learning strategies used to transmit information between conspecifics and in the extent to which they require input from asocial learning. Two strategies in particular, conformist and payoff-based social learning, have been subject to considerable theoretical analysis, yet previous models have tended to examine their efficacy in relation to specific parameters or circumstances. This study employs individual-based simulations to derive the optimal proportion of individual learning that coexists with conformist and payoff-based strategies in populations experiencing wide-ranging variation in levels of environmental change, reproductive turnover, learning error and individual learning costs. Results demonstrate that conformity coexists with a greater proportion of asocial learning under all parameter combinations, and that payoff-based social learning is more adaptive in 97.43% of such combinations. These results are discussed in relation to the conjecture that the most successful social learning strategy will be the one that can persist with the lowest frequency of asocial learning, and the possibility that punishment of non-conformists may be required for conformity to confer adaptive benefits over payoff-based strategies in temporally heterogeneous environments.

In this paper, a novel and facile method to achieve fluorescent nanosized-diamond based nanowire (NW) is reported. One-dimensional (1D) organic NW has received tremendous attention due to its superior chemical functionality and size-, shape-, and material-dependent properties. In addition, nanosized-diamond is comprehensively studied and investigated due to superior tunable fluorescent properties, cost-effectiveness, facile manufacturing and high biocompatibility. Through thermal treatment, sulfur-modified nanosized-diamond was fabricated by mixing oxidized nanosized-diamond and dibenzyl disulfide at 900∘C. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and zeta potential were employed to characterize sulfur-modified nanosized-diamond. After that, porous anodic aluminum oxide template-assisted cathodic electrophoretic deposition method was used to achieve sulfur-modified nanosized-diamond NW. Scanning electron microscopy and transmission electron microscopy were applied to present the one-dimensional structure of the NWs. The optical properties of sulfur nanosized-diamond NW were characterized via ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy and photoluminescence spectroscopy. Finally, the as-synthesized sulfur-modified nanosized-diamond NW-based optical sensor was fabricated to detect vitamin B[Formula: see text] with high sensitivity and selectivity.

In recent years, the optical accelerometer based on the optical trapping force effect has gradually attracted the attention of researchers for its high sensitivity and high measurement accuracy. However, due to its large size and the complexity of optical path adjustment, the optical force accelerometers reported are only suitable for the laboratory environment up to now. In this paper, a miniature optical force dual-axis accelerometer based on the miniature optical system and a particles cavity which is prepared by Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems (MEMS) technology is proposed. The overall system of the miniature optical levitation including the miniature optical system and MEMS particles cavity is a cylindrical structure with a diameter of about 10 mm and a height of 33 mm (Φ 10 mm × 33 mm). Moreover, the size of this accelerometer is 200 mm × 100 mm × 100 mm. Due to the selected light source being a laser diode light source with elliptical distribution, it is sensitive to the external acceleration in both the long axis and the short axis. This accelerometer achieves a measurement range of ±0.17 g–±0.26 g and measurement resolution of 0.49 mg and 1.88 mg. The result shows that the short-term zero-bias stability of the two orthogonal axes of the optical force accelerometer is 4.4 mg and 9.2 mg, respectively. The main conclusion that can be drawn is that this optical force accelerometer could provide an effective solution for measuring acceleration with an optical force effect for compact engineering devices.

The present paper addresses the issue of determining the best international practices for developing soft skills among students of different specialties through carrying out a theoretical review. Basing on literature on present-day theory the authors make an attempt to explain soft skills dichotomies, summarize existing approaches to classifying soft skills, consolidate and document best international practices for soft skills development among potential employees of different specialties including bachelor students, master students, doctoral and postdoctoral students. The data obtained in the theoretical analysis reveal that the possible ambiguities in the interpretation of the concept of “soft skills” are caused, on the one hand, by the dichotomic perception of their nature by present-day researchers and educators and, on the other hand, by the absence of the common language which makes it difficult to provide a more unified definition most satisfactory to all concerned. The authors are convinced that soft skills have a cross-cutting nature and regard them as personal and interpersonal meta-qualities and meta-abilities that are vital to any potential employee who is going to make positive contributions not only to his/her professional development but to the development of a company he/she is going to work for. The results of the conducted theoretical review clearly indicate that the absence of the unified understanding of the concept of “soft skills” is reflected in the existence of different approaches to classifying soft skills, let alone, the selection of didactic tools for developing soft skills among potential employees.
