In recent years, using rejuvenator sealer materials (RSMs) to recover the performance of aged asphalt on the pavement is becoming more and more popular. In this paper, four different RSMs were made and applied to rejuvenate the aged asphalt which experienced a PAV 20H process. Then the dynamic rheological characteristics of different binders were tested by the dynamic shear rheometer (DSR).The results indicated that the four RSM can recover the stress relaxation and fatigue factor of aged asphalt. But the rutting parameter decreased with the introduction of four RSMs.

This paper is to study the mechanism of aging on the rheological properties of the asphalt and make correlations with the actual field behavior of the binder. The effects of ageing on rheological properties of asphalt has been studied by Dynamic Shear Rheometer(DSR). Significant differences of rheological properties and composition were observed between fresh and aged asphalt. The results show that aging at low temperature increases the complex modulus of asphalt, but has little effect at high temperature.

In this study the high polymer materials and Trinidad lake asphalt are used as a modifier mixed by a specific proportion of base asphalt AC-20. There are modified asphalt, containing viscosity, penetration degree, ductility, softening point and film aging tests in this study. We get the values of temperature scanning, creep scanning and frequency scanning by Dynamic shear rheometer. These values are used to assess the rheological characteristics of a variety of modified asphalt. Thus they provide various reference materials on the pavement.

Abstract Bitumen is a critical component in asphaltic pavements and is often the cause of many road failures. The commercial modifiers that are being used to enhance the properties of bitumen are quite expensive; therefore, this article is dedicated to explore the potential of local crumb rubber as bitumen modifier. Two grades of bitumen pen grade (60/70 and 80/100) were modified with local crumb rubber. Rheological properties of modified and unmodified bitumen were evaluated using Dynamic Shear Rheometer. The results indicated an increase in the rutting resistance of bitumen. This indicates that Local crumb rubber can be used to enhance the properties of bitumen.

The failures of the flexible pavements are not only caused by harsh climatic conditions prevailing in most of the tropical countries but also due to increase in traffic. The ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA) modification of the bitumen can strengthen the properties of binders and also improve the quality of bitumen used for pavements construction. This paper reports the changes in physical and rheological properties of unaged 80-100 grade bitumen modified with different percentages of EVA and compared with the properties of PG 76 binder. The penetration, softening point and viscosity properties were studied. The rheological properties were measured using dynamic shear rheometer and the test was performed at temperatures ranging from 46 to 76 ⁰C at intervals of 6 ⁰C. It was noted that, after modification, the properties of binders had improved. The results show that 5% EVA content by weight in modified binder is adequate in terms of physical and rheological properties studied. In addition, the properties of 5% EVA modified 80-100 grade bitumen are similar to PG 76 binder.

To explore the effects of different factors on the rheological properties of cariphalte modified asphalt, based superpave asphalt binder relevant norms, through the use of dynamic shear rheometer Shell 70# asphalt under different temperature, frequency and strain conditions and rheological properties of cariphalte modified asphalt carrying on a systematic study, and comparative analysis of the two anti-fatigue properties of asphalt in the middle and low temperature. The results show that: compared with 70# asphalt, cariphalte modified asphalt has better rutting resistance over a wide temperature range; at lower frequencies and high intensity pavement, cariphalte modified asphalt to better resistance to permanent deformation; better fatigue resistance at low temperatures, and more fatigue damage is not easy to achieve.
