The study was conducted as descriptive-sectional to investigate the age of menarche and the influencing factors of female students studying in the preparatory class of a state university. The universe of this research was the female students between February 2014-May 2015 in school of foreign languages at a state university. The study was held with all universe instead of sampling selection. 738 female students were voluntary participated into the study. Data were collected by the survey form. The menarche age of the participants is 13,3±1,12 (10-17) years old, and there is statistically significance between menarche age and body mass index (p<.001). The other statistically significance was available between menstrual period and weight change (p<.05). It has been found that the menarche age decreases as the students’ weight and BMI increases and the duration of the menstruation cycle increases. Factors affecting students’ menstruation order were investigated and it was determined that only weight change affects menstruation order. In the study, significant results were found between body mass index and age of menarche.

AbstractUsing data from the 1994-1996 CSFII/DHKS, we identify and assess factors affecting the decision to consume pork and conditional on consuming pork, the decision of the amount of pork intake. Branded and generic advertising of pork play a prominent role in both decisions. Beef advertising, however, does not significantly affect either the probability of consuming pork or the amount of pork intake. Key health, attitudinal and lifestyle factors are smoking status, dietary status, body mass index, the importance of nutrition in buying food, and trimming visible fat from meat. These factors however impact the probability of consuming pork rather than the amount of pork consumed. Region, urbanization, race, age, income, and seasonality also affect pork demand.

ABSTRACT Objective Food addiction, an increasingly prevalent disorder, involves multiple physiological and psychological factors. It is often associated with obesity and psychiatric disorders. This study aimed to determine the main factors affecting food addiction in women. Methods In total, 383 adult women were evaluated using an anamnesis form to record participant demographic information and anthropometric measurements, along with the Yale Food Addiction Scale, Beck Depression Inventory, and body perception scale. We created a model according to Beck Depression Inventory, body mass index, age, body perception scale, and marital status, which were thought to influence Yale Food Addiction Scale. Results Mean participant age was 30.13±10.84 years. Food addiction scores of the participants showed significant positive correlations with body weight, body mass index, and depression scores, and significant negative correlations with the body perception scale scores (p<0.05). The results revealed that the Yale Food Addiction Scale score is affected by the Beck Depression Inventory and body mass index. Increase in Beck Depression Inventory and body mass index increased the Yale Food Addiction Scale score by 0.054 and 0.076 units, respectively. Conclusion The main factors affecting emotional eating in women are coexistence of high scores of depression and high body mass index. It is determined that people can have depression, food addiction and obesity at the same time.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the risk factors affecting dyslipidemia in women according to age group.Methods: This secondary analysis study used data from the Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (KNHNES), 2014~2017. The participants were 10,573 women aged 30 years and older. Data were analysed using descriptive data, x<sup>2</sup> statistic, and complex sample multiple logistic regression analysis.Results: Prevalence of hyper-LDL cholesterolemia was estimated at 10.8% (30~49 years old), 42.3% (50~64 years old) and 62.0% (over 65 years old). Prevalence of hypertriglyceridemia was estimated at 6.8% (30~49 years old), 13.1% (50~64 years old) and 14.7% (over 65 years old). Risk factors of hyper-LDL cholesterolemia were hypertension, menopause, body mass index, smoking, drinking status in women aged 30~49 years old. Risk factors of hyper-LDL cholesterolemia were hypertension, menopause, body mass index, waist circumference, smoking, drinking status in women aged 50~64 years old, and hypertension in women over 65 years old. Risk factors of hypertriglyceridemia were hypertension, menopause, body mass index, waist circumference, smoking in women aged 30~49 years old. Risk factors of hypertriglyceridemia were hypertension, body mass index, waist circumference, smoking, energy percent from fat in women aged 50~64 years old, and smoking in women over 65 years old.Conclusion: The results of this study revealed the important role of hypertension, menopause, body mass index, waist circumference, smoking, drinking status and energy percent from fat on dyslipidemia according to age group in women. Based on these results, different approaches considering women's age group should be prepared in order to prevent and manage dyslipidemia.

BACKGROUND: Mastalgia is a common complaint in females aged 30–50 years. Mastalgia varies in degrees of severity. The quality of life of women may be adversely affected by severe mastalgia. It was associated with disturbance in sexual, social, and physical activities and behaviors. AIM: The main objective of this study is to investigate factors affecting mastalgia. METHODS: This is an analytical cross-sectional study. Conducted on 148 females attending the Family Medicine outpatient clinic. Mastalgia was assessed by new breast pain score. RESULTS: The mean age of patients was 32.6 and their mean body mass index (BMI) was 24.8. The majority of the cases were highly educated 48% and working 58.1%. There was a highly statistically significant difference between females with mild pain and those of moderate to severe pain regarding to BMI as the mean of BMI in patient with mild pain was 22.7 ± 2.5 while it was 27.6 ± 3.1., there was highly statistically significant difference between both groups as regards to the type of the contraception used that means females who used hormonal contraception had more pain. After logistic regression the only remaining significant factor was BMI 0.001. CONCLUSION: There are many factors affecting mastalgia as BMI, type of contraception, menstrual regularity, menstrual duration, breast pain duration, and premenstrual symptoms. But BMI is the most important factor affecting mastalgia.

AbstractBirthweight affects neonatal mortality and morbidity and has been used as a marker of foetal undernutrition in studies of prenatal effects on adult characteristics. It is potentially influenced by genetic and environmental influences on the mother, and effects of foetal genotype, which is partially derived from the maternal genotype. Interpretations of variation in birthweight and associated characteristics as being due to prenatal environment ignore other possible modes of materno-foetal transmission. Subjects were adult twins recruited through the Australian Twin Registry, aged 17 to 87 years, and the sample comprised 1820 men and 4048 women. Twins reported their own birthweight as part of a health questionnaire. Body Mass Index (BMI) was calculated from self-reports of height and weight. Correlations between co-twins' birthweights were high for both monozygotic (r = 0.77) and dizygotic (r = 0.67) pairs, leading to substantial estimates of shared environmental effects (56% of variance) with significant additive genetic (23%) and non-shared environmental (21%) components. Adult BMI was mainly influenced by genetic factors, both additive (36% of variance) and nonadditive (35%). The correlation between birthweight and BMI was positive, in that heavier babies became on average more obese adults. A bivariate model of birthweight and adult BMI showed significant positive genetic (rg = 0.16, p = 0.005) and environmental (re = 0.08, p = 0.000011) correlations. Intra-uterine environmental or perinatal influences shared by cotwins exercise a strong influence on birthweight, but the factors which affect both birthweight and adult BMI are partly genetic and partly non-shared environmental.
