To improve the efficiency of the remote monitoring system for logistics transportation, we proposed a remote monitoring system based on wireless sensor network and GPRS communication. The system can collect information from the wireless sensor network and transmit the information to the ZigBee interpreter. The monitoring system mainly includes the following parts: Car terminal, GPRS transmission network and monitoring center. Car terminal mainly consists by the Zigbee microcontroller and peripherals, wireless sensor nodes, RFID reader, GPRS wireless communication module composed of a micro-wireless monitoring network. The information collected by the sensor communicates through the GPRS and the monitoring center on the network coordinator, sends the collected information to the monitoring center, and the monitoring center realizes the information of the logistics vehicle in real time. The system has high applicability, meets the design requirements in the real-time acquisition and information transmission of the information of the logistics transport vehicles and goods, and realizes the function of remote monitoring.

Slope Condition

As it is impossible to conduct real-time monitoring on slope condition of highways, a remote monitoring system has been specially designed. Making use of GPRS technology, Labview and solar power, the system has realized nobody monitor on slope anchor system, automatic collection of slope pressure and displacement data. It enjoys advantages such as high-accuracy, real-time monitoring and high-reliability. Among existing effective monitoring ways, massive man-power is needed for on-field work, but real-time monitoring is still left to be achieved.

In view of the methods on remote monitoring of the rivers and lakes water quality are relatively single and low efficiency in supervision at present, this page puts forward a kind of design method of the internet of things system about remote monitoring system based on GPRS/3G technology. The system can realize multi-point data integration, processing, integration and real-time results releasing, with GPRS/3G remote data communication technology as the core, and send the information accesses to the buoys placed on the waters surface, mobile intelligent instruments, and the water quality monitoring ark placed on the water bank via GPRS/3G module to the superior intelligence analysis system, which realizes the real-time display in the GIS map, water quality evaluation, bloom forecast, decision-making, etc. Practice has proved that this system is stable and reliable, and provided the effective monitoring of the rivers and lakes water quality and management decision of algae blooms emergency for the environmental protection department.

By studying the occurrence and distribution of landslide disaster, remote monitoring system for landslide hazard was developed which using STM32 microcomputer and GPRS comunication technology. The changes of slope inclination, slope displacement and rainfall were acquained in real time. Experimental results showed that the use of the system on the slope of geological disaster monitoring is convenient and with stable performance.

<p>Harmful Algae Blooms (HAB) are now a topic of increasing interest due to the consequences they trigger on the quality of aquatic ecosystems and human health. Cyanobacterial (blue-green algae) proliferation, recurrence and distribution in water bodies around the world is caused by the sum of different climatic and anthropic factors. Manual sampling techniques are not sufficient to satisfy an adequate monitoring; hence, new strategies are needed to its continuous monitoring and possible prediction in affected areas. Real-time sampling techniques provide continuous recording and immediate data reception, which facilitates HABs monitoring with a very fine spatial-temporal resolution. However, these emerging tools are in their very early development stage and some relevant issues still constrain their applicability by many water management agencies. The objective of this work is to implement the same Remote Monitoring System (RMS) architecture in two different water bodies in Iberian Peninsula and to test its suitability for HABs monitoring. To this end, we deployed two plug-and-play nodes based on YSI technologies, two customised nodes based-on Libelium Waspmote and one Libelium weather station in the freshwater As Conchas reservoir, in NW Spain, and the shallow L'Albufera brackish water lagoon in Eastern Mediterranean shoreline.  After that, we evaluate the representativeness of the collected data by performing a Pearson correlation test between the deployed nodes and satellite images. The results show that the more heterogeneous the environment is, the more nodes must be deployed in different areas for a longer time to obtain a realistic view of the water body status. Therefore, this study provides critical and empirical data to implement a profitable and effective real-time monitoring system in other HAB-affected areas.</p><p><strong>Acknowledgements</strong>: This work was supported by the Spanish Fundación Biodiversidad, Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge (CianoMOD Project, CA_CC_2018).</p>
