Relevance of the research is caused by wide spreading of Building Information Modeling throughout the world for over 20 years. BIM adoption in Kazakhstan was started relatively recently and has not yet come up to common use among design engineers as well as constructors and investors.

Building Information Modelling (BIM) has become an attention-grabbing topic among researchers and industry players around the world including Malaysia. As the construction industry always plaguing with issues related to massive waste generated from construction and demolition process, encouraging BIM implementation is considered as one of the available technology-based alternatives to encounter these issues. BIM is a type of technology that offers the development of construction project before the real construction process, which allows the identification of any issues earlier, throughout the design and planning phases. Currently, numerous researches have been focusing on the benefits offered by BIM to the construction industry. However, there are still several construction players who lack awareness of BIM's contribution, especially towards sustainability. The purpose of this paper is to explore the awareness of contractors in Malaysia on the contribution of BIM towards sustainability, namely economic, environmental and social. A total of 133 contractors from grade G1 to G7 were involved in a survey. The results revealed that majority of the respondents were aware on BIM contributions towards environmental sustainability, besides other two sustainability pillars, economic and social. Thereby, there is a need to educate and provide realistic information to the construction industry stakeholders, as a process to create a better understanding and wider exposure, and to convince them to implement BIM technology.

<p>Building Information Modeling methodology is the current interest for many didactic programs around the world. May be the Master program can be an opportunity to understand the whole BIM concept in the AEC industry. In the Master BIM in Pisa, Italy we are teaching an approach that is not only “tech”. In the Building Information Modeling methodology, the digital representation receives a new strategic task in the world of construction: reducing the gap between the “res aedificanda” and its simulation via object-oriented graphics. Developing research on this way means to offer new powerful opportunities to re-think the link between “the fact” and “its representation”. There is a strong link between graphics approach and cognitive paradigms in design architecture. If the Building Information Modeling could be an answer for the actual needs of the world of AEC, digital design in BIM becomes the way to think the whole project “as one”. In the BIM graphics environment, the digital drawing changes the sign in ontology. To sum up, we are moving beyond vision to "experience" the design before it is built: we design the constructive ontology according to our experience of the “fabrica”. Modeling the interaction means represent the process through the time.</p>

The construction industry is one of the oldest industries in the world and one that continues to change with client demand. In recent decades, innovation in the construction industry has greatly improved, increasing productivity. Innovation in construction refers to the generation and implementation of new ideas to enhance the performance of construction processes and to gain economic, environmental, and social benefits. Modern innovative digital technologies in construction include application of virtual reality (VR)/augmented reality (AR), blockchain, 3D printing, building information modeling (BIM), and off-site manufacturing. This chapter will explore the application of these innovative digital technologies in construction. It will particularly include recent case studies and examples from the New Zealand construction industry.

Nowadays, Smart Cities are one of the most debated and discussed subjects related to urban development. Various technological and innovative processes are being integrated into society’s everyday life, aiming at fulfilling the new demands for a sustainable growth that is led by the citizens, by and large. In this context, the infrastructure sector figures as one of the most important points to reach that goal. This paper seeks to study the applicability of the Building Information Modeling (BIM), and of the Geographic Information System (GIS) to Smart Cities, highlighting the main potentialities and challenges of the utilization of these processes. The study will be realized through a literature review of the most relevant works, focusing on the integration of technologies and placing the concepts of City Information Modeling (CIM) in the discussion. It is our understanding that the adoption of CIM concepts by city managers, and by the entire construction sector, could be an important step in the development of Smart Cities around the world.

In connection with development in the world and, in particular in Ukraine, practices of planning of building objects and creation of project documentation with the use of BIM (Building Information Modeling) and by the credible height of researches of accordance of project documentation and existent objects to the requirements of normatively-legal acts, there is a necessity of introduction in the field of realization of judicial building examination of methodologies of research of building objects and corresponding project documentation created after BIM, preparation of specialists for work with the complexes of planning BIM. In the article, the existent state and perspective use of BIM considered for verification of accordance to the requirements of normatively acts of the both projected and existent building objects, which can be used by forensic experts during realization of corresponding researches.
