The way children portray emotions in their drawings of human and nonhuman topics is assumed to reflect their artistic, emotional, and cognitive development. This study was designed to investigate the development of expressive drawings during childhood and into adolescence, using a large age range (5–15 years) and sample size (N=480), so as to provide a precise and comprehensive view of age-related changes in children’s ability to produce expressive drawings. More specifically, we focused on children’s developing ability to use the techniques of literal and metaphorical expression, either alone or in combination. We also examined the effects of sex, topics (house, tree, or person), and the depicted emotion (happiness or sadness) on the use of each expressive technique. The main findings were that there is a developmental shift between childhood (5–10 years) and adolescence (11–15 years) in the use of expressive techniques, from simple (literal) to more complex forms of expression (metaphorical).

Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to present the Swiss Cooperative Storage Facility, a high bay, high density, automated, and oxygen reduced off-site storage facility which serves five research libraries from the German speaking part of Switzerland; it opened in February 2016. Design/methodology/approach – It describes the complete process of evaluating and planning this innovative facility. Findings – It explains the way the cooperation of the five libraries in highly federalist Switzerland was achieved, what principles guided its organization, and how the libraries prepared their holdings for this off-site storage. It shows the construction as an ecologically driven green building with economical advantages. Originality/value – The project seems to be the second automated and oxygen-reduced library storage facility worldwide, after the British Library’s Additional Storage Buildings, and the depth and detail of the evaluation phase is new.

In 1949, the Norwegian historian Halvdan Koht opened his book The American Spirit in Europe: A Survey of Transatlantic Influences (from which the title for this review article is borrowed) with the following lines: America in this book means the United States of America. The subject of the book, however, is not America. It is rather Europe. The plan of the book is to present a comprehensive view of the effect of American activities, struggles and efforts upon European life and progress.

It is impossible to do justice in one review article to a researcher of the stature of Christopher Dobson. His career spanned almost five decades, resulting in more than 870 publications and a legacy that will continue to influence the lives of many for decades to come. In this review, I have attempted to capture Chris's major contributions: his early work, dedicated to understanding protein-folding mechanisms; his collaborative work with physicists to understand the process of protein aggregation; and finally, his later career in which he developed strategies to prevent misfolding. However, it is not only this body of work but also the man himself who inspired an entire generation of scientists through his patience, ability to mentor, and innate generosity. These qualities remain a hallmark of the way in which he conducted his research—research that will leave a lasting imprint on science.

AbstractStudying seizure semiology is the first step in evaluating any patient with epilepsy which leads the way to further investigations and management, particularly in differentiating focal and generalized epilepsies. While the usefulness of semiological analysis has been confirmed through decades' worth of research and clinical practice, there remains some instances when the line between focal and generalized semiological features is blurred leading to difficulties identifying the type of epilepsy at hand. This in turn can lead to delayed or wrong diagnoses with significant implications. In this review article, we explain the role of semiology in epilepsy, specifically in differentiating focal versus generalized epilepsies and cover the semiological features for both groups. We also discuss the occasional overlapping semiology between the two groups and provide case examples.

Indian agribusiness firms are facing increased challenges to manage their corporate brand because many negative implications of agribusiness activities on society are now under public scrutiny. Agribusiness firms are being blamed for environmental degradation, use of excess fertilizers and pesticides, and for promoting unhealthy foods. Such issues pose challenges to corporate brand building efforts of agribusiness firms. In recent years, the Indian agribusiness sector is witnessing a growing trend of using CSR activities to attenuate such negative impacts of agribusiness activities on the corporate brand building efforts of agribusiness firms. This chapter, through theoretical and empirical literature, explores the emerging brand-CSR relationship and uses of CSR as corporate branding strategies in the context of Indian agribusiness firms. The chapter highlights that instead of the traditional community-oriented CSR activities, key beneficiaries-oriented strategic CSR initiatives could be the way forward for sustainable corporate branding strategies in agribusiness.

The constant changes that young university students face determine the way in which they establish their priorities, whether personal, academic or social. Among these priorities is having a healthy life from a planning of activities that allow them to manage time and consolidate habits. It is there where resilience allows the young person, despite the difficulties that the environment poses, to overcome the challenges of the stage of the life cycle in which he/she finds him/herself. It is hoped that, within the university context, teachers will accompany young people in their personal growth process with a resilient perspective, in order to consolidate a life project based on healthy living habits. Keywords: Resilience. Vacuum crystallization with subsequent solid–liquid separation is a suitable method to produce and separate the temperature-sensitive protein lysozyme. The conventional process is performed batch-wise and on different devices, which in turn leads to disadvantages in terms of energy efficiency, contamination risk and process control. This publication therefore focuses on the application of the previously multistage process to a quasi-continuous, integrated single plant. The transfer occurs successively and starts with the substitution of the batch vessel by a process chamber. Afterwards, the filtration scale is increased and the formerly deployed membrane is replaced by an industrial filter cloth. Based on the results of these experiments, the complete process chain is successfully transferred to an integrated laboratory plant.

Abstract More than three decades have passed since utilization of radiofrequency (RF) ablation in the treatment of cardiac arrhythmias. Although several limitations and challenges still exist, with improvements in catheter designs and delivery of energy the way we do RF ablation now is much safer and more efficient. This review article aims to give an overview on historical advances on RF ablation and challenges in performing safe and efficient ablation.
