The primary purpose of vehicle insurance is to cover the vehicle against damage, personal injury, and third-party liability. In addition to this, some insurance companies also provide value-added services such as roadside assistance and other services in return of the amount called as premium which attracts a large number of customers. However, our study shows that vehicle owners give maximum importance to the cost of insurance in terms of the annual premium. Primary data has been collected through questionnaire and analysed to ascertain about the factors responsible for taking out vehicle insurance, choice between private and public sector insurance companies, preferred insurance companies among the major players in the field, factors that play a role in the customers’ choice of a particular insurance company, customers’ opinion about the affordability of the premium to be paid, customers’ satisfaction with their chosen company, whether customers consider fast and efficient service as a deciding factor, and whether the brand value of the company plays a role in the customers’ choice.

AbstractIn a case brought before the A1 Ain Court against a local insurance company, the plaintiff claimed the cost of repairing the engine of her vehicle which was insured with the defendant insurance company. The plaintiff claimed that the engine of her vehicle had exploded accidentally and suddenly and without any apparent reason. She therefore claimed the cost of repairing the engine from the insurance company. The insurance company refused to pay on the ground that the explosion of the engine was a mechanical defect which was excluded from the terms of the insurance policy. Therefore, the insured was not entitled to be reimbursed for the repair of the engine of her own vehicle, because it was not involved in any accident with a third party. The Court of First Instance delivered a judgment in favour of the insured. This judgment was upheld by the Appeal Court and thereafter by the Abu Dhabi Supreme Court of Cassation who held that the explosion was accidental, sudden and for reasons unknown to the assured. This damage was covered by the insurance policy and the insurance company was therefore liable to compensate the insured for the repair costs even though the damage was not caused by an accident with a third party.

This study aims to analyze and compare the efficiency between conventional life insurance companies and Islamic life insurance companies in Indonesia over the period of 2014-2018. The sample of this study was taken from 10 conventional life insurance companies and 10 shariah life insurance companies that were selected based on the purposive sampling technique. Measurement of efficiency in this study was conducted using the method of data envelopment analysis (DEA) based on Bankers-Charnes-Cooper (BCC) and Charnes-Cooper-Rhodes (CCR) models of the value-added approach. This was followed by testing the hypothesis using a different Mann-Whitney U-test. Input variables used are assets, capital, general and administrative costs, and commission expenses. Meanwhile, the output variables are premiums and investment income. The results showed that conventional life insurance companies are more efficient than Islamic life insurance companies based on the BCC and CCR models. Furthermore, the results of different tests using the Mann-Whitney U-test showed an insignificant difference in efficiency between conventional life insurance companies and Islamic life insurance companies during the study period. The results of the comparison of the average efficiency value with the DEA method indicated that the efficiency level of a conventional life insurance company was better than a shariah life insurance company.========================================================================================================Studi Perbandingan Efisiensi antara Asuransi Jiwa Konvensional dengan Syariah Menggunakan Data Envelopment Analysis. The practice of pharmacy is evolving from a product-related focus to one that is more patient-oriented and outcome-directed. This new focus can reduce the cost and/or improve the quality of care. Pharmacists often detect and resolve medication-related problems, though few reimbursement incentives exist for the amount of time and effort it takes. With statutory restrictions on the total use of pharmacy technicians and state-mandated OBRA patient counseling and prospective drug utilization review, community pharmacists are pressed for time more than their hospital colleagues to document their daily interventions for improving drug therapy for their patients. PharmD students can assist the community pharmacist in documenting these medication-related problems. Documentation of these "cognitive" or "value-added services," including their outcome on cost and care, is critically necessary for future reimbursement consideration by third-party payers. Murabahah is a particular kind of sale that compliant with shariah. In this scheme, the seller expressly mentions the cost he/she incurred on the commodities for sale and sells it to another person by adding some profit thereon which is known to the buyer. It is one of the most popular modes used by Islamic banks. With its fixed margin, it offers the seller a more predictable income stream. This study aims to analyze the implications of the determination of the profit margin for the murabahah financing at an Islamic microfinance called Baitul Qiradh Amanah. Primary data was collected mainly through interviews and observation. The observation was conducted for about two months. During the observation process, co-researcher was directly involved as a trainee at the Baitul Qiradh. Interviews were conducted to clarify some unclear information that was obtained through observation. To strengthen the primary data, the secondary data is also utilized through books, magazines, and other studies. The secondary data is then compared with the findings from the field which is then analyzed using content analysis. The results showed that the profit margins in the initial of profit determination unilaterally bring both positive and negative implications for the clients and the Baitul Qiradh itself. The positive implication is (1) the Baitul Qiradh is able to predict its profit and (2) the clients are prevented from the risk of inflation or economic crisis. While the negative implications are (1) eliminating bargaining power of clients and (2) affect to customer satisfaction that leads to the decrease of the number of customers of the Baitul Qiradh.
