As more educational programs transition to online and hybrid programming, there is a need to explore longer term outcomes of graduates of these programs. This mixed-methods survey study compared characteristics and perceptions of hybrid- and on-campus-pathway graduates from an entry-level OT program. Overall results indicated that both groups of graduates are similar in all areas, suggesting hybrid education is a suitable educational delivery model for OT students. Abstract Date Presented 04/12/21 OTs and other health care professionals learn about assessment and intervention for pain in their entry level educational programs. The aim of this study was to identifying gaps and strengths in interdisciplinary health profession curricula as it relates to pain and subsequently the opioid crisis. Participants completed a survey and a focus group. Results show a mutual desire among faculty and students to implement additional pain education. Three Stages

This study aimed to understand the role that parents play in sharing or limiting their child’s access to information about coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). A subset of data from an international mixed methods online survey study was analysed to elucidate the findings from Brazil. An online survey, conducted between April and June 2020, gathered closed and open text views from parents of children aged 7–12 years old. Quantitative data were analysed using descriptive statistics. Qualitative open text data were analysed using the three stages of the Bardin content analysis framework: pre-analysis (data organisation and initial full-content reading); exploration of the material (thematic coding to identify major motifs and develop thematic categories) and interpretation (treating the data as significant and valid). The sample consisted of 112 (89%) mothers and 14 (11%) fathers. The analysis of the parents open text resulted in two categories: ‘How parents share information with their children about COVID-19’ and ‘How parents limit information to their children about COVID-19’. Some parents reported adopting an honest and open approach on how they shared information with their children, whilst some parents chose to minimise their child’s access to information about the pandemic over concerns of the mortality related to COVID-19.

The exploratory mixed-methods study of 490 OT graduate students revealed that high levels of reported stress along with limited coping strategies impacted students’ perceived occupational engagement and quality of life. Students identified mindfulness as an effective coping mechanism; however, its reported use did not appear to alter quality of life. This mixed-methods study explored the perspectives of current OT students from under-represented groups and OT faculty and staff. Surveys and interviews were used to gather data on OT students' experiences during the OT admissions process within their OT program and OT faculty and staff perspectives on inclusion in their OT program. Results highlight supports and barriers to inclusion and support various efforts to increase representation of students from under-represented groups within OT education. Introduction: Twitter is growing in popularity and influence among emergency physicians (EP), with over 2200 self-identified EP users. As Twitter’s popularity has increased among EPs so too has its influence. While there has been debate about the value of Twitter as an effective educational delivery tool, little attention has been paid to the nature of the conversation occurring on Twitter. We aim to describe how influential EPs use Twitter by characterizing the language, purpose, frequencies, content, and degree of engagement of their tweets. Methods: We performed a mixed-methods analysis following a combined content analysis approach. We conducted qualitative and quantitative analyses of a sample of tweets from the 61 most influential EPs on Twitter. We present descriptive tweet characteristics and noteworthy themes. Results: We analyzed 1375 unique tweets from 57 unique users, representing 93% of the influential Twitter EPs. A majority of tweets (1104/1375, 80%) elicited some response in the form of retweets, likes, or replies, demonstrating community engagement. The qualitative analysis identified 15 distinct categories of tweets. Conclusion: Influential EPs on Twitter were engaged in largely medical conversations in which most messages generated some form of interaction. They shared resources and opinions while also building social rapport in a community of practice. This data can help EPs make informed decisions about social media engagement.
