The purpose of this research aims to fill in the gap in the religion-brand relationship, and explores what constitutes a cult-like allegiance to a brand, by examining subjects’ relationship to the Apple brand, comparing survey response by subjects who were “devotees” versus “indifferents” to Catholicism and to Apple. This paper uses Ninian Smart’s (1989) “Seven Dimensions of Religion” as a theoretical framework to develop scales of measurement among Apple and Catholic devotees. The contribution of this research is the development of Catholic and Apple scales. The Catholic scale extracted three factors and the Apple scale generated four factors in CFA.

Chapter 1 lays out the book’s theoretical framework. Accepting the claim that Israel is a neoliberalizing society, it asserts labor’s agency and its potential to thwart neoliberalism as part of a struggle taking place on the ideological or symbolic level too. It then proposes neocorporatism as a useful conceptual approach, and links this to union revitalization and concepts of power. These theoretical terms and concepts are used to anchor the three “spheres” of union activity which structure the book: union democracy, or workers’ relationship to their representative organization; the balance of power between labor and capital, and the way the potential clash of interests between them is viewed and played out; and the relationship of labor to the political establishment and wider political community. Finally, a short coda explains the research process and approach that led to the book.

The paper aims to identify barriers to e-Application in the agri-food supply chain in India and helps in developing mutual relationship of these barriers using interpretive structural modeling (ISM) technique. The barriers are identified using secondary sources and expert opinions. The paper is a blend of theoretical framework and practical application and employs structural analysis to draw an interventional roadmap to facilitate the use of e-Application in the agri-food supply chain. The research shows that there exists a group of barriers having a high driving power and low dependence requiring maximum attention. These barriers are strategically important for e-Applications. This paper provides a useful insight to the policymakers and stakeholders by focusing on those key barriers which are important for effective e-Application in the agri-food supply chain.

In the January 2018 issue of the IBMR, R. Daniel Shaw introduced the concept of hybridity to define how the Christian faith can connect meaningfully with people’s local rituals and practices. I researched how mature Lele Christians in Papua New Guinea evaluate their traditional concepts of sickness and healing. In this article I argue that hybridity provides a useful theoretical framework to understand how Lele Christians relate their Christian faith to their tradition. I also show that the concept finds good biblical precedent and is significantly moving forward the discussion about the relationship of Christianity and culture.

Health communicators at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) have developed an integrated model titled Crisis and Emergency Risk Communication (CERC) as a tool to educate and equip public health professionals for the expanding communication responsibilities of public health in emergency situations. This essay focuses on CERC as a general theoretical framework for explaining how health communication functions within the contexts of risk and crisis. Specifically, the authors provide an overview of CERC and examine the relationship of risk communication to crisis communication, the role of communication in emergency response, and the theoretical underpinnings of CERC. The article offers an initial set of propositions based on the CERC framework and concludes with a discussion of future directions.

Paisagem. Corpo. Coisa. Weaving streams of matter: ex-votos in Cirio de Nazare in Belém of Pará AbstractThe main purpose of the article is the analysis of so-called "ex-votos" in Cirio de Nazare (Belém-Pará). "Ex-votos" are devotional catholic artifacts, which express relationship of giving thanks or sacrifice in return for a blessing from deity and its agents, the saints of holy devotion, under the logic of the gift. This effort highlights three reference axes which express the possibility of expanding the understanding of the "ex-votos": "landscape", "body" and "thing", whose theoretical framework leads us through the perspective of overcoming the category "object", to the approaching of category "thing", as proposed by Tim Ingold, and so to the conclusion that the "ex-votos", considered as vitality flux, cannot be understood if worked up separately from the cosmos where circulating. Keywords: Ex-votos. This paper proposes a theoretical framework for investigating stakeholder theory in organizations. The organizations theory can be understood in three theoretical models: rationalist, natural and open systems. These models are presented to justify that organizations should be analyzed taking into account that social system aspects and the natural and open system models are employed. The applications of this paper rely upon the theoretical framework which is based on an extensive literature review comprising environment based theories. This paper would be of help to researchers examining the whole set of the relationship of organizations with their environment instead of only the relationships with external agents. Employing the theoretical basis presented in this analysis, the researcher will be able to identify both feasible theoretical sources for his/her studies and useful approaches for carrying on his/her investigations. The paper presents theories for explaining the organization's behavior and performance as being influenced by stakeholders who inhabit its environment. Resource dependence and institutional theory are employed to give theoretical support to the stakeholder. At the end of the paper, a diagram representing the theoretical framework is presented.

The objective of this research is to investigate the dynamics of English as a Second Language (here onwards, ESL) writing and to present a theoretical framework for empirical testing the proposed factors affecting ESL writing. The analysis of literature showed that ESL writing anxiety and the use of first/native language (L1) are among the key factors that significantly affect ESL writing performance of students at various academic levels. Additionally, it is also revealed that ESL writing self-efficacy is a factor that is related to ESL writing performance as well as ESL writing anxiety and the interference of the first language in ESL writing. The interference model, the linguistic interdependence model, common underlying proficiency hypothesis and the self-efficacy theory are the theories that theoretically support such empirical investigation. Therefore, it is proposed that ESL writing self-efficacy should be examined as a moderating variable in the relationship of ESL writing anxiety and the use of L1 with ESL writing performance in future research.
