Much has changed with regard to air pollution control since 1970 whenCongress revised the Clean Air Act to assume a form that, in very broad terms,it retains today.  From a legal point of view, while states1 still retained at thattime wide-ranging discretion to design the regulatory controls necessary toattain the air quality goals of the Act, that discretion was significantly limitedwhen Congress revisited the Act in 1977.  State discretion diminished to aneven greater extent, particularly with regard to the air pollutants ozone, carbonmonoxide, and particulate matter, when President George H.W. Bush signedthe Clean Air Act Amendments of 1990.

This paper discusses the air quality control in the current legislation of the Republic of Serbia and compares it with the relevant EU legislation, Framework and Daughter Directives of the air quality monitoring and management. QA/QC components, instrumentation and methodologies of the air quality control in RS are not yet structured and harmonized with EU requirements. The limit and target values for air pollutants notified in EU legislation may be partly comparable with relevant requirements in RS legislation.

The US Clean Air Act, passed in 1970 with strong bipartisan support, was the first environmental law to give the federal government a serious regulatory role, established the architecture of the US air pollution control system, and became a model for subsequent environmental laws in the United States and globally. We outline the act’s key provisions, as well as the main changes Congress has made to it over time. We assess the evolution of air pollution control policy under the Clean Air Act, with particular attention to the types of policy instruments used. We provide a generic assessment of the major types of policy instruments, and we trace and assess the historical evolution of the Environmental Protection Agency’s policy instrument use, with particular focus on the increased use of market-based policy instruments, beginning in the 1970s and culminating in the 1990s. Over the past 50 years, air pollution regulation has gradually become more complex, and over the past 20 years, policy debates have become increasingly partisan and polarized, to the point that it has become impossible to amend the act or pass other legislation to address the new threat of climate change.

China’s current Air Quality Index (AQI) system only considers one air pollutant which has the highest concentration value. In order to comprehensively evaluate the urban air quality of Jiangsu Province, this paper has studied the air quality of 13 cities in that province from April 2015 to March 2018 based on an expanded AQI system that includes six major air pollutants. After expanding the existing air quality evaluation standards of China, this paper has calculated the air quality evaluation scores of cities in Jiangsu Province based on the six major air pollutants by using the improved Fuzzy Comprehensive Evaluation Model. This paper has further analyzed the effectiveness of air pollution control policies in Jiangsu Province and its different cities during the study period. The findings are as follows: there are distinct differences in air quality for different cities in Jiangsu Province; except for coastal cities such as Nantong, Yancheng and Lianyungang, the southern cities of Jiangsu generally have better air quality than the northern cities. The causes of these differences include not only natural factors such as geographical location and wind direction, but also economic factors and energy structure. In addition, air pollution control policies have achieved significant results in Nantong, Changzhou, Wuxi, Yangzhou, Suzhou, Yancheng, Zhenjiang, Tai’an and Lianyungang. Among them, Nantong has seen the biggest improvement, 20.28%; Changzhou and Wuxi have improved their air quality by more than 10%, while Yangzhou, Suzhou, and Yancheng have improved their air quality by more than 5%. However, the air quality of Nanjing, Huai’an, Xuzhou, and Suqian has worsened by different degrees compared that of the last period within the beginning period, during which Suqian’s air quality has declined by 20.07% and Xuzhou’s by 16.32%.

Introduction: Coal consumption for electrical energy at Steam Power Plant increase often with economic and population growth. Burning coal produces harmful pollutants such as PM2.5 and SO2 affecting public health problems and decline in social and economic conditions. Therefore, implement the strategies are needed to reduce risks and long-term impacts on the environment. The research aimed to analyze the risk and impact of air pollutants exposure and develop control strategies. Methods: This study used the methods of environmental health risk analysis, analysis of the level of understanding and perception, cost of illness analysis, and Strength, Weakness, Opportunities, and Threats analysis, Data obtained by survey, interviews using questionnaire instrument to 293 respondents, five experts to determine risk control strategies and the secondary data from Environmental Agency of Bekasi Regency. Results and Discussion: The result showed that most risk is 13-55 years old, and people who live less than two square kilometres from the power plant. The level of public understanding and perception resulted in moderate criteria. The average cost of illness is 14.51% of the average monthly income of each person. The recommendation strategies are implemented regulations of power plant location, providing guidelines for environmental controlling, air quality control regularly, tightening air quality standards, prioritizing air pollution control budgets, providing green space, implementing clean energy and renewable energy, and building capacity air quality control. Conclusion: The production of electrical energy on Steam Power Plant had an air pollution impact such as health problems, decreased income, and social disruption. Air pollution control includes structural and nonstructural strategies from internal and external Steam Power Plant to provide environmentally friendly energy production for the communities.

This paper provides a perspective of air pollution control regulations in the United States that affect the Wool Fiberglass Manufacturing Industry. In addition, it analyzes regulations specifically targeted towards formaldehyde emissions from these operations and evaluates what lies ahead under existing Clean Air Act requirements. This paper addresses only the regulatory climate in the United States. However, based on history, other countries such as Canada and European Union tend to mirror US laws that are eventually followed by other developing countries.

This report focuses on improving the air performance and air quality of the Bombardier Global 7500. A test rig is designed and built, with the intentions of simulating the inlet ducting of the Global 7500. The performance of the test rig has been measured, and the ducting is prepared for testing. Preparations have been made to test the effect that various air outlets have on the performance of the ducting. The temperature can vary throughout the cabin, causing discomfort for passengers, it is possible that the inlet ducting is responsible for this. Additionally, the effect of numerous air pollutants has been explored and a focus has been made to test particulate matter and carbon monoxide. The Honeywell HPM Series and the Adafruit MiCS5524 have been suggested for detecting particulate matter and carbon monoxide respectively. The ducting designed can be used for various air performance and air quality research in the future.
