Retroperitoneal liposarcoma (RPLS) is a rare tumor. Early diagnosis and treatment are difficult due to absence of specific clinical presentations. We report a case of a 66-years-old woman who succesfully underwent complete surgical resection for a giant retroperitoneal liposarcoma. The complete surgical resection is the most important predictor of local recurrence and overall survival. We believe that complete surgical resection involving adjacent organs is a curative treatment to increase overall survival, especially in the presence of invasion of large tumors.

Retroperitoneal sarcomas are extremely rare malignant tumors. The most common type of sarcomas arising in the retroperitoneum are liposarcomas, occurring mostly in the sixth and seventh decades of life. The only potentially curative approach to liposarcomas is the complete surgical resection of the tumor with negative microscopic margins. However, retroperitoneal liposarcomas exhibit a propensity for local recurrence and distant metastasis despite the negative surgical margins, thus requiring additional therapy. Eribulin demonstrated a benefit in terms of overall survival in patients with advanced or metastatic liposarcoma. We report two cases of patients, both submitted to concomitant right nephrectomy, who experienced a long-lasting control of recurrent retroperitoneal liposarcoma before being submitted to eribulin-based therapeutic regimens (23 and 24 treatment cycles completed, respectively).

Peritoneal tuberculosis (PTB) is a common type of extrapulmonary tuberculosis; however, due to variety of clinical presentations, diagnostic challenges do occur. The nonspecific features of this disease can lead to diagnostic delays and the development of complications. In addition, PTB can mimic a malignancy, especially in women who present with ascites and elevated cancer antigen (CA) 125 levels. A high index of suspicion is an important factor in an early diagnosis. Moreover, an early diagnosis and the initiation of antituberculous therapy are essential for preventing morbidity and mortality. Fortunately, most of these patients respond very well to standard antituberculous therapy. Here, we have reported the case of a young female patient who presented with chronic ascites, mild abdominal tenderness, and later, scrofula. Ultimately, she was diagnosed with PTB based on her test results. We expect that this case report will contribute to the existing literature on this subject.

Background: Pink spots in teeth were first described by Mummery in 1920, and were related to resorption. Resorption is a pathologic process that often eludes the clinician with its varied etiologic factors and diverse clinical presentations. Resorption can be generally classified as internal and external resorption. Internal resorption has been described as a rare occurrence as compared to external resorption. Case report: This article describes a pink spot that was diagnosed as a progressing resorption process. Early diagnosis enabled a successful management of the lesion. Conclusion: Early diagnosis and treatment of an internal resorption, clinically seen as a pink spot, in a primary central incisor may prevent its fast progress and subsequent loss.

AbstractObjectives:To demonstrate the different clinical presentations of tuberculous otitis media and the management of selected cases.Case report:We report four cases of tuberculous otitis media with different clinical presentations, encountered between 1998 and 2002. None of the cases showed improvement with local or systemic antibiotics. The diagnosis, complications and management of these cases are discussed. Conclusions:A high index of clinical suspicion of tuberculous otitis media is required in patients who do not respond to standard antibiotic therapy for (nontuberculous) chronic middle-ear infection. Early diagnosis and treatment of tuberculous otitis media is important to avoid irreversible complications, surgical intervention and propagation of the disease.

Primary cardiac tumors (PCT) are rare with high mortality rate and low survival. There are several treatment approaches in the PCT management. Complete surgical resection is the main base of treatment and there is disagreement on adjuvant chemotherapy or radiotherapy after surgical resection. In this case report, complete remission of the relapsed non-metastatic cardiac synovial sarcoma was observed after salvage chemotherapy and complete surgical resection.

Retroperitoneal liposarcoma (RPLS) is a rare mesenchymal tumor which accounts for 0.02–0.7% of all malignancy. The presentations of these tumors are non-specific and early diagnosis is often missed. We are reporting a rare case of 17-year-old girl who came to us with complaints of abdominal distension and other non-specific symptoms but after few hours of admission, she had acute abdomen with hemodynamic instability. She underwent emergency laparotomy and found to have a giant 25 × 20 × 10 cm ruptured retroperitoneum tumor causing hemoperitoneum. The tumor involved left ovary and fallopian tube as well. Complete resection of tumor with left salpingooophorectomy was done. The patient was kept in intensive care unit and discharged in good health after 15 days. This presentation of RPLS has not been reported yet and may demand early diagnosis and management of these tumors. The histopathology revealed dedifferentiated liposarcoma with rhabdomyosarcomatous differentiation. The patient is completely fine at 16 months of follow-up while writing this report. Again, heterologous dedifferentiation of liposarcoma with spindle cell component is a rare morphologic spectrum. Liposarcomas can have various histologic types. In dedifferentiated types, the line of differentiation needs to be identified to decide further line of treatment. Therefore, thorough histopathological analysis and immunostaining is needed. Treatment includes complete surgical resection. Role of radiotherapy and chemotherapy is debatable and is still under trial. Dedifferentiated RPLS with rhabdomyosarcomatous differentiation is a rare tumor and its presentation as acute abdomen and hemoperitoneum has never been reported previously.

Purpose: To report an unusual case of frontal sinus keratocyst. Case Report: A 31 year old woman presented with a history of swollen right eye and visual field impairment. The ophthalmological examination revealed right superior eyelid edema and some degrees of proptosis. CT scan with iodine injection evidenced the opacification of the right frontal sinus with superior orbital wall lysis. Complete endoscopic surgical resection of a mass containing foul smelling keratin material was performed via Draf type III. The patient became symptomatic after 6 years. Imaging studies showed neo- osteogenesis in the far lateral end of right frontal sinus. Frontal trephination was done and the remnant of keratocyst was removed and the septum interfacing the cell and the right frontal sinus was walled down entirely. Conclusion: Although frontal sinus keratocyst is benign but can spread to the surrounding structures leading to several complications. Therefore, complete surgical resection is necessary to avoid recurrence.
