Objective: To assess the leadership styles of the assistance Nursing professionals and their associated sociodemographic and professional factors. Materials and methods: An analytical and cross-sectional study. The sample comprised 75 Nursing professionals and 170 Nursing assistants selected for convenience. The Multifactorial Leadership Questionnaire was applied to assess leadership and the organizational result variables. Results: The predominant leadership styles were as follows: transformational (mean of 3.43) and transactional (3.40), which presented high correlation rates with satisfaction, efficacy and additional effort. The leadership style least perceived by the staff was corrective/avoidance (2.10). In transformational leadership, behavioral influence and inspirational motivation presented better scores in the leaders’ self-perception. Age, marital status and having children evidenced statistically significant differences with the transformational and transactional leadership styles; work experience was significant with transactional leadership. Conclusions: In their work, Nursing professionals denote encouraging practices that are inherent to transformational leadership, which is related to changes in the organizational culture, leads to motivating and inspiring the subordinates to transcend the routines and increases their satisfaction and commitment to their duties, thus being an important factor in health institutions.

The aim of this study is to investigate the influence of age and experience on the leadership styles of the managers, in the three selected banks of Kashmir division viz J&K Bank, SBI and HDFC. The study focuses on two leadership styles, namely transformational and transactional leadership styles. The study reveals that the transformational leadership style is the dominant leadership style among managers of all age and experience groups. Furthermore, the study reveals that the age and experience have no significant influence on leadership styles, although with the increase in age and experience transformational leadership style is exhibited more by the managers.

Purpose While substantial a number of research studies have examined the effect of leadership styles on work-related behaviour, the interaction effect of transactional-transformational leadership on work-related behaviour has been rarely investigated in a developing context. Thus, this study aims to examine the interaction effect of transactional-transformational leadership on employee commitment in Ghana. Design/methodology/approach The study used descriptive and cross-sectional survey designs. Cross-sectional data was obtained from 360 employees in the aviation industry of Ghana and analyzed using descriptive statistics, correlation and hierarchical regression techniques. Findings Transactional leadership style has a significant positive effect on employee commitment. However, when transformational leadership was added on transactional leadership base, there was no augmentation effect of transformational leadership style in predicting employee commitment. The results further indicate that there was a negative interaction effect of transactional and transformational leadership styles on employee commitment. Practical implications The findings imply that organizational leaders can improve employee commitment by purely resorting to transactional leadership behaviours. Leaders can also enhance employee commitment by augmenting transactional leadership behaviours on transformational leadership, as the reverse has no augmentation effect. Originality/value This study considerably complements existing leadership literature by establishing how a transformational leadership style can augment and/or interact with transaction leadership style to influence employee commitment in a developing country.

This study is based on the idea that transformational and transactional leadership style is very important for employees because job satisfaction is achieved with good cause employees are willing and motivated to provide a positive influence on the success of the organization that supports organizational goals effectively and efficiently. Therefore, this study aims to determine whether the transformational and transactional leadership styles simultaneously significant effect on employee performance. The theory is used to analyze the problems is about transformational leadership, transactional leadership style, employee performance. This research was conducted in the Harian Waspada Medan, especially in the civil service. Research approach is a quantitative approach to the type of associative research. The results obtained and also become keseimpulan this study include that the transformational leadership style has no significant effect on employee performance. While transactional leadership style variables have a significant effect on employee performance. Variable transformational and transactional leadership styles simultaneously significant effect on employee performance.

This study investigated the mediating effect of organizational climate on the relationship between transformational and transactional leadership styles on innovative behaviour. 1 1 15th International Entrepreneurship Forum (15th IEF) Conference Conference Theme The Globalisation and Internationalisation of SMEs AND New Ventures: Travels with Eclectic Charlie, Digital Mary, Networked Nadia and Impactful Shona. Venice, Italy 14–16 December 2016. The effect of each component of transformational and transactional leadership styles on innovative behaviour was also investigated. A sample of 3,180 respondents from 52 South African companies participated in this research. Four main hypotheses and six sub-hypotheses were tested using multiple regression analysis. The results revealed that indeed organizational climate mediates the relationship between transformational and transactional leadership styles on innovative behaviour as well as their components. The study substantiated the expected positive relationship between transformational leadership style and innovative behaviour. Furthermore, the results showed that among the components of transformational leadership styles, inspirational motivation and intellectual stimulation influence innovative behaviour positively. This study showed that in an environment conducive to innovation, the transactional leadership style has no influence in enhancing employees’ innovative behaviour. This study provided new insight into the nature of the relationship between leadership styles, organizational climates and innovative behaviour.

Real leadership is needed in the automotive industry’s competitive environment to guide subordinates so that they share goals, attitudes, values, and work towards the achievement of organisational strategies. Macroenvironmental changes such as the slowdown in the South African economy, labour unrest, high unemployment levels, a weakening currency, and new vehicle price increases have had a detrimental effect on automotive retailers and can be blamed partially for dealers struggling to reach targets in recent years. This perpetually fluctuating external environment promotes corresponding internal automotive dealership changes and strategies. This might mean changes to intangible resources like dealership processes, policies, procedures, or physical resources like people, demographics, materials and products. In both cases, strong leadership is required. The primary aim of this exploratory study was to determine whether sales managers exhibited a predominately transactional or transformational leadership style, and to understand current levels of work engagement of sales executives in motor dealerships’ new and used vehicle sales departments. A secondary aim was to examine the correlation between the prevailing leadership style (either transactional or transformational) of sales managers and the level of work engagement of sales executives. The research method included a formal quantitative, cross-sectional survey. Data was collected using questionnaires developed by international researchers in the field of transformational and transactional leadership and work engagement. The main findings of this research will contribute to current literature and knowledge relating to work engagement and its interdependence with transformational and transactional leadership.

PurposeThis paper aims to look into the role of transformational leadership and transactional leadership as predictors of employee creativity and organisational innovation. Employee creativity is examined as a potential mediator in the leadership styles–organisational innovation relationships.Design/methodology/approachA cross-sectional, quantitative design was adopted and structural equation modelling (SEM) techniques were used to analyse data collected from 369 employees working in 39 public coffee enterprises in Vietnam.FindingsTransformational leadership and transactional leadership were significant predictors of employee creativity and organisational innovation. Specifically, transformational leadership was instrumental to employee creativity and organisational innovation while transactional leadership was detrimental to these two variables. Additionally, employee creativity partially mediated the relationships between the two leadership styles and organisational innovation.Practical implicationsResults of this study benefit the management of organisations and policy makers by providing an insight of which leadership style will effectively suit public enterprises to promote employee creativity and foster organisational innovation.Originality/valueWhile there is a lack of studies investigating organisational innovation in organisational methods and that the interrelationships between leadership styles, employee creativity and organisational innovation are not fully understood, this study pioneers in examining relationships between leadership styles and organisational innovation that is being mediated by employee creativity. Figuring out that organisational innovation is more likely to be fostered by the positive influence of leadership behaviours and the improvement of employee creativity, in particular, the significant role of employee creativity represents important contributions of the current study.

The purpose of this research is to investigate the effect of transformational and transactional leadership styles on firms’ financial performance in a context of knowledge-intensive firms and the mediating role of exploitative and exploratory innovations in this relationship. To achieve this purpose, a quantitative research was conducted on 201 top executives working in knowledge-intensive firms in the context of an emerging country, namely Tunisia. The data analysis was performed via the structural equation modelling method. As a result, the empirical study revealed that the transformational leadership style is a key determinant of exploitative and exploratory innovations and firms’ financial performance. In this perspective, the two types of innovation partially mediate the link between transformational leadership and financial performance. However, transactional leadership affects only exploitative innovation. This original study offers a better understanding of the contribution of the transformational and transactional leadership styles on exploitative and exploratory innovations and the firms’ financial performance in a context of firms’ intensive knowledge. It offers a reading grid for managers of knowledge-intensive firms to better lead and identify key elements that may boost the firms’ innovation ambidexterity and performance.

This study aimed to determine the transformational and transactional leadership of nursing student leaders enrolled at the University of Cebu Banilad, Cebu City, Cebu, Philippines, as well as to use the findings as basis for an enhanced leadership training program. Data was gathered through a survey of 105 nursing student leaders. Data was analyzed using simple percentage, grouped frequency distribution, weighted mean, t-test for independent samples, Pearson product-moment correlation coefficient, and t-test for significance of Pearson r.The findings of the study include the following: (1) the respondents scored above average in transformational leadership style as well as in transactional leadership style; (2) There was no significant difference in the transformational and transactional leadership styles according to profile; and (3) there is significant relationship between transformational and transactional leadership styles of the student leaders, the extent of which is a high positive correlation.In conclusion, transformational leadership complemented transactional leadership, and vice versa. Scholarly works have shown that one of the outstanding factors of organizational commitment has been leadership, which relates to the style adopted by the leader and the impact it has on the commitment level of employees for performance. The aim of this research was to explore the effect of leadership styles on organizational commitment. Transformational, transactional, and laissez faire styles of leadership were examined. A cross-sectional survey of 151 employees at a public sector agency in Abuja, Nigeria, was conducted. The research employed a quantitative approach to the collection of data using questionnaire administration. All questionnaire items were assessed using the five-point Likert scale. Inferential statistics in research was carried out using multiple regression technique to substantiate the survey findings. Based on the Great man theory, Contingency theory and Behavioural theory, the study confirms that transformational, transactional and laissez faire leadership styles and organizational commitment were statistically associated. In terms of contribution to the model, the explanatory variables jointly contributed 68.2 percent in explaining organizational commitment. On individual contribution, transformational leadership style contributed the most, 58.6 percent to the model while transactional leadership style contributed 11.8 percent to the model and finally laissez-faire leadership style contributed 11.2 percent to organizational commitment in the study context. The study therefore recommends that AEA should use continuous transformational leadership style practices to sustain high employee commitment and organizational effectiveness. Also, AEA should apply a bit of both transactional and laissez faire leadership styles from time to time depending on the situation of things at the workplace as there is no particular leadership style that is one-size fit all but depends on situation at hand. One realistic implication that could be learned from this study is that in order to minimize employee turnover, managers need to implement affirmative strategies that will benefit the establishment.
