Tuta absoluta comes from South America. In Europe it was reported for the first time in Spain in 2006. In Republic of Moldova, according to the literary sources, the tomato moth was reported for the first time in 2013 (in Chișinău). In the absence of some efficient prevention and combating measures of the Tuta absoluta pest it spread more and more, and became a pest of major concern for all the Moldavians farmers which deals with the cultivation of tomato crops in the protected areas. Following the phyto sanitary controls the most cases was found the central region of the country. For the monitoring of the tomato moth pest, in the protected area, was used the water universal trap, the ultraviolet light, the colored adhesive plates and sexual pheromones. As a chemical method of the tomato moth pest combating was used: the insecticide Afirm WG dose of 1. 50 kg/ha.

The paper provides the data on aphyllophoroid fungi of the State Nature Reserve «Kurgalsky» situated in the Kingisepp District of the Leningrad Region. The list includes 285 species annotated by data on their habitats, substrates and frequency. In total 25 species protected in the Leningrad Region and 3 species protected in Russian Federation were found in the protected area. Chaetodermella luna, Phlebia subochracea and Trechispora stevensonii are published for the first time for the Leningrad Region. The specimens of selected species are kept in the Mycological Herbarium of the Komarov Botanical Institute RAS (LE).

Tuta absoluta species originates from South America. It was signaled for the first time in Europe in 2006 in eastern Spain. In Romania it was detected for the first time in the western part of the country into a grange from Satu Mare county in 2009. After a year the attack of Tuta absoluta was signaled into a greenhouse from Curtici city, Arad county. Studying Tuta absoluta reaction at different chemicals and trying to discover which one is the most suitable and efficient to reduce or eliminate the population of the pest. Observations were conducted in greenhouses in Arad. They used different chemicals to reduce or eliminate the pest Tuta absoluta population. Chemicals had a positive effect to eliminate the pest population of Tuta absoluta. If it is discovered in an early stage of the attack, it can be controlled or eliminate by chemicals treatments.

Tuta absoluta - the tomato leafminer originated from South America was signaled for the first time in the South of Spain in 2006. In Romania Tuta absoluta was detected for the first time in the Western part of the country, into a grange from Satu Mare county in 2009. A year later, in the spring of 2010 its attack was signaled into greenhouses from Curtici, situated in Arad county. We studied the phytosanitary spreading area of Tuta absoluta, into solariums and greenhouses. Observations were made in the greenhouse from west of Romania. The tomatoes crops from greenhouse were verified to establish the frequency of pest attack. There were found insignificant pest attacks of Tuta absoluta in the first months, but in the last weeks we found major attack of this pest in tomato crops. Tuta absoluta is a specie whose area of distributions is expanding. Specialists in the field of plant protection should give special attention to monitoring this invasive pest.

The area known as Parque Ermida Dom Bosco on the shores of the Paranoá Lake, 7.8 km from the centre of Brasília (Rodoviária do Plano Piloto), Distrito Federal, Brazil, is a preservation area of Monumento Natural category (since 2019), and one of the few protected areas of the Distrito Federal without a floristic list. Collecting focused on the vascular flora and was undertaken as monthly, 1-day events from August of 2017 to August of 2018. Our study identified 293 species, of which half (50%) were distributed among just seven botanical families: Fabaceae (42 species), Asteraceae (31 spp.), Malpighiaceae (19 spp.), Myrtaceae (19 spp.), Lamiaceae (14 spp.), Poaceae (12 spp.), and Euphorbiaceae (8 spp.), a result that is congruent with the known Cerrado flora. Anemopaegma goyazense (Bignoniaceae) was recorded from a protected area in the Distrito Federal for the first time; other regional species with narrow geographic distributions recorded were Mimosa gatesiae (Fabaceae), Myrcia capitata and Myrcia federalis (Myrtaceae).

The Neotropical parasitoid wasp Dolichogenidea gelechiidivoris (Marsh, 1975) (Hymenoptera: Braconidae), one of the most important biocontrol agents of the South American tomato pinworm Tuta absoluta (Meyrick, 1917) (Lepidoptera: Gelechiidae), is reported for the first time from Africa, from tomato grown in open fields and greenhouses in several regions of Algeria. Color photos of specimens from Algeria, Spain and South America, as well as the holotype and one paratype are provided. Morphological and molecular details to better characterize and recognize the species are also provided. We speculate that D. gelechiidivoris arrived accidentally to Algeria from Spain, where it has recently been reported. The consequences for future biocontrol projects against T. absoluta in Africa are discussed.

ABSTRACT The fungi diversity in Brazil is not fully known yet, mainly in Serra de Maracaju, which is located in the central portion of the State of Mato Grosso do Sul, in the center-western region of Brazil. Samples were taken from different phytophysiognomies of the Cerrado, the dominating biome of that region, in areas where Cerrado and pasture alternate, in the municipality of Corguinho. Of the species identified, 18 are new citations for Brazil, as they are not included in the List of Brazilian Flora (fungi), and 36 are recorded for the first time for [the State of] Mato Grosso do Sul. As a total, 62 species were collected in nine excursions during 2014 and 2015. Out of this total, 15 species are deemed edible, four are toxic, ten are medicinal, two are used in bioremediation processes, and one is bioluminescent, according to the literature.

The list includes 138 species annotated by data on their habitats, substrates, and frequency. Representative specimen numbers are cited for selected species. Hyphoderma incrustatum (first record in the European Russia), H. occidentale (first record in the northwestern Russia) and Junghuhnia semisupiniformis are recorded for the first time for the region. The specimens are kept in the Mycological herbarium of the Komarov Botanical Institute RAS (LE).

SUMMARYEcuador, a country with nearly unparalleled levels of biodiversity and endemism, has one of the highest deforestation rates of South America. I examined whether governmentally protected areas in Ecuador have been effective at reducing deforestation. After estimating deforestation rates from existing land cover change data for 2000 to 2008, I used a matching approach to compare the rates of forest loss inside and outside protected areas, which corrected for geographic biases in the locations of protected areas. I tested for the effects of protected area age, size and level of protection on the rate of deforestation using generalized linear models. Governmentally protected areas still experienced deforestation – with no apparent effect of age, size and level of protection – of nearly 10,000 ha per year, but deforestation rates were lower inside compared to outside protected areas. Governmental protection led to the avoidance of additional deforestation of 2600–7800 ha of natural forest per year. Actions to mitigate deforestation in Ecuador are of global importance and as such it is promising that protected areas can help diminish deforestation, although the effectiveness of Ecuador's protected areas can still be improved upon.

Light emitted or reflected up to the sky can interact with clouds or fog changing Night Sky Brightness (NSB). So the evaluation of NSB in any place can be affected by this meteorological features and needs to be analyzed. To evaluate this effect, data of NSB obtained with the Catalan Light Pollution Network (XCLCat) has been analyzed accurately and shows how the effect is completely different in urban and protected areas. The study, including for the first time independent cloud coverage data from ceilometer in combination with Sky Quality Meters (SQM), shows how in a city NSB increases dramatically and in a protected area the sky appears darker than in cloudless situation.

The harpacticoid copepod fauna of the Laguna Navío Quebrado, La Guajira, a protected area of the northern Colombian coast, was studied from plankton samples obtained at littoral areas covered by vegetation (macrophytes and mangroves), and at limnetic habitats close to an oyster bank. A total of 14 species of harpacticoid copepods are reported from the surveyed area. Nine of these species are new to the Colombian copepod fauna: Schizopera knabeni Lang, 1965, Cletocamptus helobius Fleeger, 1980, Quinquelaophonte quinquespinosa (Sewell, 1924), Sarsamphiascus hirtus (Gurney, 1927), Parategastes herteli Jacobi, 1953, Enhydrosoma lacunae Jakubisiak, 1933, Metis holothuriae (Edwards, 1891), Robertsonia propinqua (T. Scott, 1894) and Nitokra taylori Gómez, Carrasco & Morales-Serna, 2012. The first two species have not been hitherto recorded from South America and the last one is reported for the Americas for the first time. Nine of these species are also new records for the Caribbean Sea. This is the first report on the marine benthic harpacticoid Copepoda from northern Colombia. A complete species list plus brief diagnostic descriptions of the new records for the Colombian harpacticoid copepod fauna are provided together with morphologic remarks, notes on the variability of some species and their distribution.
