Objective. Conjoined twin is a rarely seen congenital anomaly together with severe mortality and morbidity. The more common types of conjoined twins include the thoracopagus type, where the fusion is anterior, at the chest, and involves the heart. We are reporting one case of conjoined thoracopagus twins diagnosed by ultrasonography at 11 weeks. Case Report. In a multigravid pregnant woman who has been admitted to our clinic with a diagnosis of conjoined twins, thoracopagus, by ultrasonography at an 11-week gestation, termination of the pregnancy was performed. Conclusion. Making an early diagnosis with ultrasonographic examination gives the parents a chance to elect pregnancy termination.

In the present case study we are reporting a case of thoracoomphalopagus conjoined twins. A 24 years old gravida two para 0+1 carrying thoracoomphalopagus conjoined twins was diagnosed by ultrasonography at early second trimester with single placenta attached posteriorly and low lying. The mortality and morbidity of conjoined twins are high so making the early diagnosis with ultrasonographic examination provides the parents a chance to elect for pregnancy termination.

Conjoined twins are a very rare complication of monochorionic monoamniotic pregnancies, associated with severe mortality and morbidity. Ultrasonography has made early diagnosis of conjoined twins possible, allowing prompt management and counselling of parents. The diagnosis should be suspected when monozygotic fetuses are shown to consistently hold the same fixed position relative to each other. The location and extent of fusion between the twins determine the potential for surgical separation and postnatal survival. The authors report a case of conjoined thoraco-omphalopagus twins, diagnosed by ultrasonography at 10 weeks of gestation. Due to high complexity of fetal fusion, termination of pregnancy was performed upon patient´s request.

A patient at her 38+ wks of pregnancy as a ultrasonographically diagnosed case of conjoined twin admitted in our department with ruptured membrane. Two live female babies joined at the chest were delivered by caesarean section. The parents refused a separation operation and the mother and the babies were discharged from hospital at 6th post natal day. A review of the literature suggests that early diagnosis by a combination of ultrasound and MRI is essential for management as it provides prognosis for viability and process of surgical separation and also the opportunity for early counseling of parents and termination if indicated. Mucormycosis refers to several different disease caused by infection in the order of mucorales. Rhizopus species are the most common causative organism. Most mucormycosis infections are life-threatening and risk factor such as diabetic ketoacidosis and neutropenia, are present in most cases. Severe infection of the facial sinuses, which may extend into the brain, is the most common presentation. We describe our clinical experience with a case of mucormycosis of the maxilla. Early diagnosis and prompt treatment can significantly reduce the mortality and morbidity of this lethal fungal infection. MedicineToday 2015 Vol.27(1): 38-40

Persistent stapedial artery is a rare congenital anomaly that occurs by a failure in the involution of such artery. Most patients with persistent stapedial artery are asymptomatic. The imaging diagnosis is made principally by means of multidetector computed tomography. In the present case, persistent stapedial artery was an incidental computed tomography finding. The authors discuss the embryogenesis, computed tomography findings and the importance of an early diagnosis of such anomaly.

Background. Conjoined twins are a rare complication of monozygotic twinning and are associated with high perinatal mortality.Case. Here we present a case of conjoined twins in a triplet pregnancy diagnosed at 13 of weeks gestation. With the aid of 3D ultrasound and MRI images, the parents were counseled regarding the management options, including continuation of pregnancy, termination of pregnancy, or selective fetocide. They chose selective fetocide of the conjoined twins and went on to deliver the remaining triplet at term.Conclusion. This case represents to our knowledge the only MRI images of conjoined twins in a triplet pregnancy and demonstrates how 3D imaging can be used to better counsel patients about management options.

Interstitial pregnancy is rare form of ectopic pregnancy that can expand up to 18 weeks leads to massive haemoperitoneum hence early diagnosis is imperative to decrease mortality and morbidity. Present case diagnosed as interstitial pregnancy at laparotomy when she had taken for hysterotomy after two failed courses of medical abortion. Clinicians should bear in mind the limitations of various investigations and should have a higher degree of suspicion for interstitial pregnancy Any deviation from normal response to administration of medical abortificient, such as failure to abort, should instigate the diagnosis of ectopic (interstitial) pregnancy by expert radiologist.

Vein of Galen Aneurysmal Malformations (VGAMs) are severe and rare congenital brain vasculature anomalies, which causes high mortality and morbidity in fetuses, neonates, and infants. It can be identified in the pregnancy period with fetal echocardiography. We report a case of VGAMs with severe cardiac manifestations in the fetus of a pregnant woman at the 28th week of gestational age.
