The construction of an individual educational trajectory changes due to a change in approaches to the personal and professional potential of the future teacher. Provided that the acquisition of professional skills by a teacher has not required constant training throughout life, then the modern environment requires a systematic updating of skills and advanced training. In fact, approaches to training and the role of the teacher in the educational environment are changing. Based on an integrative literature review, the trends of individual educational tools for the development of the personal and professional potential of a future teacher within EU have been investigated. The academic paper has revealed significant differences regarding the disclosure of personal and professional potential of future teachers within EU. Differences include: teachers’ training, the establishment of additional requirements for teachers in addition to curricula, regulating teachers’ mobility, professional and personal support, continuing professional development. The article has stated that induction and mentoring for new teachers is widespread within EU and legally established in most European countries. The investigation attests to the fact that induction may play a key role in supporting teachers’ professional development. Induction programs combine elements of mentoring, training, peer review, and scheduled meetings with school principals and colleagues to provide personal, social, and professional support. Induction activity is connected with increased self-efficacy and job satisfaction. Mentoring programs are designed taking into consideration the school context. Pupils’ knowledge, classroom pedagogy, assessment of pupils and harmonization of curriculum standards differ significantly between primary and secondary schools. Supporting measures to promote teachers’ participation have been developed in almost all EU countries.

A continuing professional development (CPD) program for pharmacists practicing in community and team-based primary care settings was developed and evaluated using Moore’s framework for the assessment of continuing medical education. The program had three components: online lectures, a two-day training workshop, and patient case studies. Knowledge (pre-post multiple choice test); attitudes, readiness, and comfort with applying pharmacogenomics in their practices (pre-post surveys); and experiences of implementing pharmacogenomics in practice (semi-structured interviews) were assessed. Twenty-one of 26 enrolled pharmacists successfully completed the program, and were satisfied with their experience. Almost all achieved a score of 80% or higher on the post-training multiple choice test, with significantly improved scores compared to the pre-training test. Pre- and post-training surveys demonstrated that participants felt that their knowledge and competence increased upon completion of the training. In the follow-up, 15 pharmacists incorporated pharmacogenomics testing into care for 117 patients. Ten pharmacists participated in semi-structured interviews, reporting strong performance in the program, but some difficulty implementing new knowledge in their practices. This multi-component CPD program successfully increased pharmacists’ knowledge, readiness, and comfort in applying pharmacogenomics to patient care in the short-term, yet some pharmacists struggled to integrate this new service into their practices.

This article gives an overview – in the form of a “review of reviews” – of existing knowledge in the research on teacher induction programs in primary and secondary schools. The article is based on seven reviews. The article describes the various elements that can make up teacher induction programs in primary and secondary schools, and shows that such programs – with their various content and contexts – can contribute to the professionalization of teaching. This includes the development of insight, self-efficacy, and self-esteem. Induction training can counteract burnout, strengthen teacher resilience and thereby facilitate continuing professional development and a firm foothold in the job as a teacher.

In English Language Teaching, the complexity of competencies and skills required for maximum achievement calls for a highly structured training programme which caters for a Continuing Professional Development(CPD)  of EFL teachers. Hence, it has become more important than ever to involve teachers in the decision making and designing of their CPD programmes. The present paper, then investigates how effective is continuing teacher training to teacher professional development in Algeria. In an attempt to answer this question, an investigation was carried out on a sample of 56 secondary school teachers of English in RELIZANE, Algeria. Using observation and interviews, teachers and teacher trainers were examined on their different standpoints to CPD. The research findings revealed that the participants expressed the same need for a continuing professional development regardless their expertise. But, their perceptions regarding their role in their CPD reflected their dependence on the institutional training programmes. Indeed, it was found that teachers rarely reflected on their education or kept track of their development as teachers.

The professional development of teachers is an important component of quality standards for any educational system, as teachers’ engagement in continuing professional development (CPD) activities are related with aspects of professional commitment and satisfaction. In this study, we explore how perceived demands of a national educational reform in the Philippines are associated with different indicators of senior high school teachers’ professional development. A survey of 289 teachers recruited to teach senior high school for the first time in the Philippines indicated that perceived demand was not associated with CPD participation intentions, but that perceived demand related to job requirement and to career planning had different associations with attitudes towards CPD. These different associations can be viewed as adaptive responding to the uncertainties in their changing work environment. The implications for conceptualizing the context of teachers’ professional development, and the external factors that strengthen or weaken teachers’ positive attitudes towards CPD are discussed.

The article presents the results of a study of the practice of teachers professional development in the context of digitalization of education carried out in order to identify the features of teachers professional development and the main conceptual ideas implemented in different countries. The article examines the practice of teachers professional development in other countries as well as in a number of Russian regions. The analysis of pedagogical literature and scientific articles was carried out using the method of apperception and the descriptive method. The use of apperception method allowed us to expand information about the existing professional development practices implemented in different countries and regions. The use of descriptive method in working with scientific literature made it possible to select articles based on keywords, descriptors. In this study, the following phrases were used as descriptors: professional development of teachers, concepts of professional development of teachers, advanced training of teachers, practice of professional development of teachers. As a result, practices of teachers professional development have been identified that have both similar conceptual ideas and some national or regional features. Two of the conceptual ideas reflected in almost all countries are particularly noteworthy: that of continuity and that of personalization of teachers professional development in the context of education digitalization. Implementation of these ideas makes it possible to ensure continuous professional development of a teacher taking into account his or her professional experience, expertise, professional competencies and interests, as well as the interests and demands of the educational organization in which he or she works. The implementation of these ideas is carried out through integration of formal and non-formal education, as well as through self-education and self-development of teachers in the context of education digitalization.

The objectives of this study were to investigate teachers’ professional development, the obstacles faced by the teachers, teachers’ efforts to resolve the obstacles, and school support for the teachers in continuing professional development. To reveal the phenomenon, qualitative case study design was used. This study combined observation, questionnaires, and interviews in data collection. English teachers, vice-principal of the curriculum, teachers who taught other subjects, and students who had been taught by the English teachers were the participants of this study. Findings revealed that English teachers’ professional development was good. The results also revealed that teachers’ scientific publications were in the poor category. Innovative works for both English teachers were in the average category. Lack of time and information were the obstacles faced by the English teachers in continuing professional development. Teachers attempted to resolve the obstacles by looking for information needed through the internet. They also had discussions with other teachers to gain information for their knowledge. The school frequently conducted some programs related to teachers’ professional development and allowed them to attend professional development activities held by other institutions.

Teacher professional development (TPD) is the modern aspect of teaching learning process. To do effective teaching, the teacher should be trained, excellent as well as up-date according to the change of time. The main purpose of this paper is to explore realities of the teachers’ professional development of the teachers in community campuses of Tribhuvan University (TU). There is great importance of TPD in the teachers of the community campuses since it helps the teacher to develop various kinds of professional skills, knowledge, new techniques and modern technology of teaching. Similarly, there is the great role of TU for the TPD of the teachers of community campuses. As the affiliation university it should organize subject wise teachers’ training time and again. Similarly, it should hold seminar, workshop and conference on the burning issues of teaching and learning. Teachers’ professional development is the demand of the present time and promoting teachers’ capacity is the most important aspect of the quality education. This article is based on the theme of the mini research which is approved by University Grants Commission (UGC) Nepal.

Abstract Objective: The aim of the paper is to explore existing and emerging opportunities for academic mobility and ESL teachers’ professional development, to present the review of theoretical assumptions about intercultural competence, to provide recommendations on using effective strategies at group and individual levels to increase the effectiveness of ESL teachers training in general and intercultural competence formation in particular. Methodology: This paper explores existing and emerging opportunities for academic mobility and ESL teachers’ professional development, presents the review of theoretical assumptions about intercultural competence. Findings: Effective strategies of intercultural competence formation at group and the individual level were examined. Value Added: The use of theoretical and practical conclusions of this paper would enhance the effectiveness of ESL teachers’ training in general and intercultural competence formation in particular. Recommendations: This paper provides recommendations on using effective strategies to achieve successful intercultural communication at group and individual levels.

The purpose of the study is to determine the optimal type of training in the course of teachers’ professional development and to identify the expected results of this process. A questionnaire survey of secondary school teachers from 3 cities and 25 districts of the Republic of Sakha was conducted. Based on the obtained results and conclusions, the recommendation is made to develop courses with an analytical structure, focused on the organization of advisory support throughout the course, solving cases in the school context, review of strategies suitable for handling the actual learning task. Moreover, this structure is suitable for both online and offline learning courses. Also, a separate course on the development of professional ethics of a teacher in distance and offline learning formats is required. This can be seen as an urgent task of the modern teacher’s activity, which leads to the success of the implementation of state policy in the educational field

AbstractThe article analyzes foreign experience in continuing professional development of teachers. It has been found that the system of continuing professional development of teachers in foreign countries has its own conceptual peculiarities determined by relevant contextual factors. It has been specified that all systems are characterized by personality-oriented approach to professional development of teachers, available organizational and pedagogical conditions for development, flexibility, diversity of forms and training content. Such an approach can enhance professionalism of teachers, their ability to provide students with high-quality and effective teaching in accordance with the needs of a market economy. It has been outlined that professional development of teachers is the most effective at the level of an educational institution in the course of daily teaching activities, provided the forms of this process organization are diverse. The key factor, which influences effectiveness of continuing professional development is the teacher’s ability to reflect, motivation, responsibility and academic mobility within professional development. It has been clarified that a number of countries apply national mechanisms for recognizing the results of teachers’ professional development, their certification. We believe it necessary to creatively use foreign innovative experience to enhance continuing professional development of teachers in Ukraine, namely, to create a multi-level system of continuing professional development of vocational education teachers and introduce motivational mechanisms for stimulating their professional growth.
