Brassica campestris is the leading oilseed crop of Pakistan. It fulfills 20% oil requirement of Pakistan. This crop is affected by various biotic and abiotic factors. Among all other yield limiting biotic constraints, Alternaria blight, caused by Alternaria brassicae playes imperative role. In the current research fifteen advanced lines/genotypes (Punjab Canola, Faisal Canola, Shirale, Dunkeld, Rainbow, AC-Excel, Legend, Oscar, Cyclone, Con II, Con III, Bulbul 98, DGL, B.S.A, Toria selection) were sown at Department of Plant Pathology with three replications under Completely Randomized Block Design (RCBD) by maintaining the plant to plant (P×P) distance of 45 cm and bed to bed (B×B) distance of 75 cm. Two genotypes i.e. Punjab canola (48.83%), Faisal canola (50.06%) exhibited moderately resistant response. Similarly, eight commercially available fungicides namely Rally 40% WP (Myclobutanil 40%), Chlorotoxin (Azoxystrobin 5.4%+Chlorothalonil 45%), Alliette 80% WP (Fosetyli-Aluminium 80%), Success 70% WP (Metalaxyl 8% + Chlorothalonil 64%), Swing 72% (Metalaxyl 8% +Mancozeb 64%), Cytrol 75% (Thiophanate-methyl 35% + Chlorothalonil 40%), Antracol (Propineb 70%) and Score 250 EC (Difenconazole 250EC) were used with two concentrations viz. 0.25% and 0.50% of each fungicide under filed conditions with three replication and Randomized Complete Block Design. It was observed that both concentrations (0.25% and 0.50%) of swing played statistically significant role to inhibit the disease incidence. Therefore, it is concluded that Punjab Canola and Faisal Canola are statistically reliable advanced lines as compared to all other thirteen advanced lines/ genotypes. Likewise, the concentrations 0.25% and 0.50% of swing have statistically more potential to retard the disease incidence as compared to all other commercially available fungicides.

The infestation of disease-pest poses a considerable threat to rapeseed-mustard production in India. Alternaria blight [A. brassicicola (Schw.)] and downy mildew [Peronospora parasitica (Pers.) Kuntze] are the major diseases in lower Gangetic plains of India. As the rate of disease increase are dependent on weather factors, weather-based forewarning system may enable to guide farmers to take protection measures timely. The paper aims at to find the effect of weather on alternaria blight and downy mildew infestations. The weather data were compared with Percent Disease Index and the prevailing weather condition during peak disease intensity has been sorted out. It was observed that an increasing trend of last seven days average minimum temperature and relative humidity indicates more Alternaria blight and downy mildew infestation. The downy mildew (peronosporosis) is the most dangerous and harmful cucumber disease in the Far-Eastern region. Its harmfulness is the highest during the period of flowering – fruiting, because it may completely ruin the cucumber plants both in open and protected ground. Use of cucumber sorts with effective genes that are resistant to the disease is the most efficient way to fight cucumber peronosporosis. In this connection the publication adduces the facts of study the sorts and hybrids of different ecological and geographical origin from the genetic resources collection of the N.I. Vavilov All-Russian Institute of Plant Genetic Resources (VIR) in comparison with three zoned sorts of DV NIISH selection – Mig, Khabar, Amurchonok. The aim of researches – to identify the sort samples cucumber according to the main economically valuable traits and also to the degree resistance of genetypes to the main disease of the culture in the region – downy mildew (peronosporosis), for allow to select the source material for the creation of sorts and hybrids, highly productive and resistant to biotic and abiotic stress environmental factors in the monsoon climate conditions of Khabarovsk region. The perspective genetypes having both the resistance to the diseases and productivity are not revealed as a result of the evaluation of the collection of cucumber samples according to their susceptibility by fungus diseases and productivity. Slavyanskiy (Belarus) is more resistant to peronosporosis, especially in 2016 year conditions, although it was inferior to the damage degree of disease to the zoned sorts – Mig, Khabar, Amurchonok. This perspective sample is planned to be used as a source of donors of the main economically valuable traits in a further selective work.

Downy mildew symptoms caused by Plasmopara halstedii encountered in sunflower plantation are varied. This variation may be related to the resistance mechanism presented by plant to the invasion of the fungus. Our objectives were firstly is to evaluate symptom development after fungus race 710 inoculation on some vegetative stage of susceptible hybrid. Second objective is to evaluate the reaction some sunflower genotypes after fungus inoculation. The study was conducted under controlled conditions or under netting cages in the field. The development of downy mildew symptoms were affected by all factors studied. Shoot inoculation may present a good method to produce downy mildew symptom similar to the natural infection. Downy mildew symptom progression may be used to screen a genotype with a horizontal resistance.
