Human health, in addition to social and spiritual well-being, is determined by its physical condition, which reflects the functional capabilities of the body, features of physical development and ensures working capacity in any activity, including academic workload, which is extremely important for students in higher educational institutions. The purpose of the study is to assess the health status of students at the School of Biomedicine of the Far Eastern Federal University. Material and methods. The health status of 184 medical students (147 young women and 37 young men) was assessed using a sociological survey (questionnaire) and a study of the component composition of the body using bioimpedancemetry. Results. The low physical activity, detected in 68% of students and bad habits (smoking tobacco) have been established to negatively affect students’ health. Among smokers, 75% of students live in dormitories on the university campus. According to the results of bioimpedancemetry, significant deviations from the age norm were noted in terms of body mass index (BMI) (50% of cases) and fat mass (FM) (71% of cases). Significant gender differences in the individual components of the body were not identified. Discussion. The most aggressive factors that significantly affect the health of students are unbalanced nutrition, lack of compliance with the regime of study and rest, lack of sleep and stay in the fresh air, lack of physical activity, lack of motivation for a healthy lifestyle. Significant deviations in BMI and FM, identified by bioimpedancemetry, indicate the risks of developing arterial hypertension, metabolic syndrome, and nutritional status disorders. Medical students need to give recommendations for increasing motor activity and changing diet. Conclusion. The results of the study can be used in the future to determine the functional state of students and develop preventive measures to preserve the health of medical students.

Australia appears to be lagging behind countries in North America and Europe regarding the participation of women in engineering, science and technology courses and careers. This chapter reports on a current project undertaken by a regional university to build a mentoring and support network among female Science, Engineering and Technology students, staff and industry professionals. As well as the context and history of the project, the chapter describes the activities undertaken and the challenges faced in making the project sustainable. Factors critical to the success of the project are identified and include securing funds and commitment from senior management, having a multi-disciplinary team with strong leadership and effective support, and using information technology to enhance personal networks and to promote activities.

The study ains to detemine the role of information and communication technology in education. The information and communication technology in general, including computers ( literacy) and information literacy, which means students recognize the teams used in information and communication techology. In the Qur’ran there are so many commads, statement, suggestions, satires and so on that subtantially lin islamic teachings to science and technology. The results of this study found that the role of information technology in education, in addition to helping students in learning also had a quite influentia r ole for teachers especially in the use of facilities to enrich teaching skills, and the Qur’ran as a quide and quidance for the development of science and technology in order to strengthen faith and improve human well being

Abstract: Malaria remains a major infectious disease that affects millions of people. Once infected with Plasmodium parasites, a host can develop a broad range of clinical presentations, which result from complex interactions between factors derived from the host, the parasite and the environment. Malaria has historically been a very serious health problem and currently poses the most significant threat to the health of Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology students, data shows that more than 70% percent of pediatric cases are due to malaria. Methodology: Hence, the study aimed to fit malaria incidences dataset for the period 1st January, 2013 to 31st December, 2015. Data on monthly malaria incidence was obtained from the Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology health service. Gamma, Weibull and Lognormal Distributions were employed to fit the malaria incidence dataset using R-software. Results: High malaria incidences were observed in the months of August, September and November. AIC values results showed that lognormal distribution had the lowest AIC value of 185.9875 followed by the Gamma distribution with a value of 187.8815 and then the Weibull distribution with a value of 188.7271. This confirmed the lognormal distribution to be the best fitting distribution for the malaria incidence dataset Conclusion: The Poisson regression model did not accurately fit the data on malaria incidences due to over dispersion in the data but lognormal distribution was a better fit compared to gamma and Weibull distribution.

Good learning is learning that is equipped with appropriate learning media to achieve learning goals. Conformity includes suitability of the needs of students, local environmental conditions, and the ability of teachers. A good learning media is media that can facilitate the achievement of learning objectives. Learning to write speech texts for junior high school class IX students requires learning media as a means of supporting the ease of achieving learning goals. Along with the development of science and technology, students' needs for learning media are also growing. Students prefer and are more interested in IT-based learning media (science and technology) in the form of audio-visual media. Students prefer to see/observe objects to stimulate ideas in writing speech texts.

In industrialized societies, techno-optimism is a belief that human ingenuity, through improved science and technology, will ultimately provide remedies to most current and future threats to human well-being, such as diseases, climate change, and poverty. Here we examine (a) whether techno-optimism is found among Midwestern corn and soybean farmers and (b) how this confidence in human ingenuity influences their support for climate change adaptation. By examining data from a survey of nearly 5,000 grain farmers in the Midwestern United States, we found that greater techno-optimism can reduce farmers’ support for climate change adaptation and increase their propensity to express a preference to delay adaptation-related actions. This study advances our understanding of how social and cognitive factors influence farmers’ attitude toward climate change. Findings from this study can also help extension educators to develop outreach programs that are sensitive to farmers’ views about the ability of science and technology to solve climate change–related issues.
