Attention to the safety of children and adolescents as an effective stratum of society is inevitable. The stratum which the future of every city and country is in their hands. Nowadays, children in addition to nutrition, clean air and a shelter, need a safe and healthy open space to play and communicate with the environment. Flaws of urban spaces do not allow children to experiment and bring them to digital devices and solitaire games. The result is nothing but the growing individualist kids with a spirit of isolationism, a topic that can be called a threat to the health of the community. The present study is a small step towards recognizing the issues of the sense of security of children in the parks of Mashhad. In this research, the physical characteristics and space design, which include pass way quality indicators, lighting, urban furniture, and ultimately the security of space in parks of region 1 of Mashhad municipality will be analyzed. In this study, the research method is descriptive-analytical and with the understanding of effective physical indices on security through field, documentary and library studies, and comparing the contribution of these indices to other physical indices in similar samples, we explain the importance of these indices. Based on the data the most important physical factors affecting the improvement of security of children’s urban parks are the attention to the lighting index of all parks at nights, and also the reduction of out-of-sight locations and inducing fear in the design of the parks.

This document presents a case study of acoustic analysis in an open-plan office. Since Mexico does not have a standard for evaluating acoustic conditions in offices, it is relevant to compare different acoustic evaluation methods used for open-plan offices. According to several studies, one of the main acoustic characteristics for open-plan office spaces is speech intelligibility. Therefore, the purpose of this document is to compare psychoacoustic parameters to evaluate speech intelligibility in open-plan offices. We analyzed physical factors as reverberation and speech clarity in different office points, as well as semantic factors based on subjective methods with standardized values of the quality of speech intelligibility. The study was carried out under real open-plan office conditions in a library in a university in northern Mexico. The study factors of interest were type of sound, sound source, and location of the listener, with Reverberation Time (RT), Speech Transmission Index (STI) and Loss of consonant articulation (%ALCons) as the measures of impact on intelligibility. This case study provides additional evidence of the relationship between intelligibility and the position of sound sources; also, it was noted that location of listeners influenced analyzed intelligibility parameters. On the other hand, this case study offers information concerning to use psychoacoustic parameters for subjective classification of quality of the speech intelligibility to evaluate how is background noise perceived in open-plan office users. However, it is noteworthy that this study represents a single office with its own interior and space design characteristics.

Abstract The purpose of the study is to determine the condition of Taman Nostalgia in terms of vitality (the quality of function, physic (environment), and meaning). The study implements descriptive approach, by which the study presents and describes the condition of Taman Nostalgia based on the phenomenon found in the field. The data are collected through documentation, observation, and interviews and are analyzed using descriptive approach and Project for Public Space. The results showed that the condition of Taman Nostalgia in terms of vitality has decreased due to several causes, such as the direct connection between relaxing area and garden area, the location and capacity of the plaza which is limited and not functional, direct connection between playground and plant area, the absence of space marker and the division of sub space in the parking area, the placement of jogging track separated and not connected to the centre of park activity, unattractive culinary area and its forming activities, limited space of sports centre, and unavailability of supporting facilities. Likewise, seen from the aspects of forming quality of the area, the park showed the absence of management concerning the aspect of needs (comfort, relaxation, passive/active engagement, and discovery), user rights (access and ease of achievement, freedom of action, claim, and change), and meaning (legibility, relevance between cultural norms and the user, individual connection, group connection, connection to larger society, biological connection, and connection to other world).

This research aims to study the physical factors affecting public park access in the unrest area, Municipality of Yala, Thailand. The sample consisted of 392 park users, covering 8 park sites. The data were collected from January to March 2018. The research found that the highest number of respondents in the park was found in the working age group of between 23 and 60 years old, with most studying at the undergraduate level. These respondents used the park for exercise (50.5%), relaxation (32.7%), and both activities (16.8%). The most frequent periods spent at the park were the 5-6 pm for exercise (51.52%) and rest (53.09%), with the length ranging from 30 to 60 minutes. The most favorite day is Saturday for leisure (66.67%) and exercise (57.22%) with the most popular park for exercise and relaxation being the Yala Municipality Youth Center and Chang Puek Park, respectively. This study also suggested that the most important factors are the distance (79.17%) and accessibility (80.41%) and that there is a high likelihood of exercising in Yala municipality, irrespective of its condition.
