Introduction. Diseases of the gastrointestinal system, and especially diseases of esophagus, are a rare cause of sudden unexpected death in any age group. Black esophagus is an acute necrotizing inflammation of the mucosa of the lower parts of esophagus, diffusely affecting its entire circumference. This inflammation could be a source of profuse bleeding and cause sudden unexpected death. Case Outline. A case of 76-year-old male was presented herein. He has been treated for hypertension and diabetes for several years. As a consequence of stroke, which happened several months prior to death, he had been hemiplegic and immobilized. He died in hospital, suddenly and unexpectedly. The autopsy showed the acute necrotizing esophagitis, as well as the acute gastric and duodenal erosions of mucosa. These were the causes of fatal blood loss. Conclusion. Acute necrotizing esophagitis should be recognized during autopsy and related to the immediate cause of death as well as to concomitant diseases of other organs, which either potentiate or facilitate presentation of this disease.

Forensic DNA testing can play a critical role in homicide investigations. Selecting the appropriate evidence on which to perform DNA testing requires foresight and reasoning based on experience and science. Although successful DNA testing can occur using many substrates, including blood, hair, and sweat/epithelial cells, positive results can also result from testing various unorthodox samples. The authors report on a triple-murder investigation where DNA testing of dog feces at the crime scene matched DNA testing of feces found on the shoe of a suspect resulting in successful prosecution of the case.

Abstract Background Major pelvic trauma (MPT) with traumatic hemipelvectomy (THP) is rare, but it is a catastrophic health problem caused by high-energy injury leading to separation of the lower extremity from the axial skeleton, which is associated with a high incidence of intra-abdominal and multi-systemic injuries. THP is generally performed as a lifesaving protocol to return the patient to an active life. Case report A 12-year male patient exposed to major pelvic trauma with bilateral THP survived the trauma and multiple lifesaving operations. The anterolateral thigh flap is the method used for wound reconstruction. The follow-up was ended with colostomy and cystostomy with wheelchair mobilization. To the best of our knowledge, there have been a few bilateral THP reports, and our case is the second one to be successfully treated with an anterolateral thigh flap. Conclusion MPT with THP is the primary cause of death among trauma patients. Life-threatening hemorrhage is the usual cause of death, which is a strong indication for THP to save life.

Cardiac arrest is the leading cause of death globally, and heart disease is known to be a major risk factor for cardiac arrest. In practice, an arrest is presumed to be of cardiac origin unless it is known or likely due to non-cardiac causes. The prognosis of the patient following cardiac arrest is generally poor. Although thrombolytic therapy is well known to be the treatment for myocardial thrombosis, it is not routinely recommended in cardiac arrest due to its potential bleeding adverse effect. We described a case report of successful thrombolytic therapy in cardiac arrest patient Bangladesh Journal of Medical Science Vol.19(2) 2020 p.319-321
