Good spatial ability skills are an important component of an engineer’s ability to create and interpret engineering drawings, which is demanding in thinking, being a problem-solving process. The ability of an engineer to visualize in 3D is a cognitive skill that is attached to success in basic engineering drawing subjects. Engineering and technology education students need good spatial ability skills to understand several topics in basic engineering drawings like orthographic projection, axonometric drawing, sectional view, and hidden details drawings. This study aims at improving spatial ability skills using a solid pair model among first-year technical education students of Kaduna State College of Education Gidan Waya. A Quasi-experimental research design was used for the study, a standards pre and post-test were used to conduct a visualization transformation assessment to measure the students’ level of spatial ability skills. The study shows that after treatment using a solid pair model, the student without prior knowledge in basic engineering performed above average, likewise students with prior knowledge in the control and experimental group performed above average. The results indicate that a solid pair model was effective for improving spatial ability skills among first-year technical education students. This study implies to educators that there is need to appropriately enforce the use of a solid pair model for effective teaching and learning of basic engineering drawing. It is, therefore, affirmed that the use of a solid pair model in teaching basic engineering drawings should be enhanced with other teaching methods. Marwa, N. This study title Effect of fixed facilitator model on NCE Technology Education Students’Attitude and Academic Performance in Niger State, Nigeria. The study used quasiexperimental design. The total population was 942, while the sample size was 216educational technology from two colleges of Education in Niger State. The test instrumentdeveloped by the researcher for the study was the Student‘s Performance AssessmentInstrument (SPAI) and Technology Education Student Attitude Questionnaire (TESAQ)which contained 50 questions. The statistic used were t-test independent sample cumulativemean and the finding of the study standard deviation. The findings of the study revealed thatNCE students performed better when taught with fixed facilitator model compared to theircounter parts taught with lecture method. Based on the results obtained the researcherrecommended that: the instructors of Technology Education should endeavor to use fixedfacilitator model in teaching Technology Education in college of education.

First year students take time to adjust to college life. A number of priorities are considered in order to survive in the tertiary level. One of which is complying with the academic requirements. The study described the study skills of the first year students in the College of Education, La Salle University, Ozamiz City, Philippines. The framework used in identifying the study skills of the first year students was adopted from Lucas and Corpuz (2007:4).These study skills were correlated to the students’ academic performance using Kendall’s Tau B, Chi-square, and Multiple Regression tests. There were 128 first year students who were taken as respondents of the study. The study reveals that the first year students have the skills in organizing and planning their work, preparing assignments or projects, and note-taking and reading. The students’ skills in organizing and planning one’s work; working with others and utilizing resources and feedback; note-taking and reading; and preparing an assignment/project correlate with their grades. The best predictor of students’ academic performance is note-taking and reading. First year college students need to develop the habit of studying their lessons, reading, and taking down notes to improve their academic performance.Keywords: Education, study skills, academic performance, descriptive design, Philippines

Various means to predict the success rate of students have been introduced by a number of educational institutions worldwide. The aim of this research was to identify predictors of success for tertiary education students. Participants were 353 students enrolled on Business and Computing programmes between 2009 and 2014, at a tertiary education provider in New Zealand. Enrolment data were used to determine the relationships between completion of the programme and prior academic achievement, age, ethnicity, gender, type of enrolment, and programme of study. These variables, as well as the overall GPA of the programme, were used to examine their relationship with the first year GPA. Results showed that pre- and post-enrolment data can be used for prediction of academic performance in ICT programmes. Based on the significance of some variables, tertiary education institutions can identify students who are likely to fail, these students can therefore be considered for additional support in the early stages of their study, in order to increase their chances of succeeding academically.


Individual differences can be attributed to learning styles across students. It is the goal of this research to determine the students’ preferred learning styles and how well they performed academically. This study is a descriptive-correlation method of research on the learning style and academic performance of teacher education students. The results revealed that: First-year teacher education students have varied learning styles with social learning style as the most dominant. This implies that the first-year teacher education students prefer to learn in groups or with other people; The rating of the first-year teacher education students ranges from 1.6-2.0 which is equivalent to “very good” in the adjectival rating based on the grading system of the university, and The correlation analysis using the Pearson’s Product Moment Correlation of Coefficient result to a p-value which is greater than the level of significance (0.05) for all learning styles which means that there is no correlation between students' chosen learning techniques and their academic success.

This study deals with students’ pronunciation errors in English consonants. It was conducted under the consideration that pronouncing English words played an important role. A descriptive qualitative was used as the research method. The subject of this research was forty seven students of first year of English Language Education Study Program at Pamane Talino College of Education, Landak Regency, West Kalimantan. Pronunciation test and interview were used to collect data. The result reveals that the students got difficulties in pronouncing /θ/, /ð/, /ʃ/, /ʒ/, /tʃ/ and /dʒ/. Then, the factors affecting the students’ pronunciation are interference, phonological system and motivation.

Abstract This study investigated the effect of e-examination on Biology students’ academic performance in Akwa Ibom State College of Education, Afaha Nsit. A quasi-experimental research design was adopted to study a sample size of 165 out of 408 first Year Biology (NCE 1) students in 2015/2016 academic session. Two research questions and two null hypotheses guided the study. While two research instruments namely: Computer Appreciation Test (CAT) and Biology Performance Test (BIOPET) were used for data collection. Whereas Mean was used in answering the research questions, t-test statistical technique was used to test the hypotheses at .05 level of significance. Major findings revealed that there was significant effect of writing examination electronically on students’ academic performance; and that no statistical difference existed between male and female students’ performance who wrote exam electronically. Subsequent upon these findings, it is recommended amongst others that students of the Institution should be introduced to the electronic mode of writing examinations through series of tutorials and hands-on experience in order to create more familiarization as the electronic mode of exam writing is gradually coming to stay in Nigerian tertiary education system.
