The impact of study quality on the image of a higher education institutionBirutė Galinienė, Algirdas Miškinis, Albinas Marčinskas, Greta Drūteikienė SummaryIssues concerning the image and reputation strengthening of higher education institutions have recently been given an important consideration in Lithuania and other European countries. In the article we will discuss the fundamentals of the university education quality and image strengthening in theoretical premises, and illustrate them using data of studies performed at the Vilnius University. The present study aimed to map the evidence to provide an overview of actions implemented/executed and scales used in public higher education institutions to promote worker health. A scoping review based on the PCC (Population, Concept, and Context) mnemonic was conducted in PubMed, CINAHL, Scopus and Virtual Health Library (VHL). Population included workers from a higher education institution, the concept referred to studies focusing on the assessment of quality of life and health promotion actions and the context to higher education institutions. Electronic searches were held on December 2019. A qualitative synthesis of the data extracted from included studies (i.e. author, year, study design, sample, country, aims, action implemented/performed, thematic focus, evaluation) was performed. Electronic searches retrieved 3,330 articles that were screened by tittles and abstracts. Of these, 34 studies were fully appraised, of which four reported that actions implemented/executed related to sedentariness, posture and stress. The studies show 49 scales were identified to measuring at least one quality of life item. Through this scoping review the available evidence to provide an overview of actions implemented/executed and scales used in public higher education institutions to promote worker health. Future studies should consider more rigorous designs and objective measures to measure the quality of life of these professionals, and develop target interventions based on factors associated with the work. It is also necessary to evaluate whether the strategies work.

Purpose – Given the importance of quality assurance and enhancement of curriculum in a higher education institution, it is vital to have a systematic process to measure students’ performance objectively and effectively for continuous improvement in the programme/curriculum. The purpose of this study is to analyse the process of setting up an Outcome-Based Education (OBE) system in a business school of a private higher education institution in Malaysia. The importance and challenges of the OBE system are discussed, while some recommendations for common issues are suggested. Methodology – Document analyses and observations were conducted on ten undergraduate programmes in the business school of a private higher education institution, from 2015 to 2019. These mechanisms are to assess and discuss the processes needed in implementing OBE; while the importance and challenges of having an OBE system in the business school are included. Findings – To have a smooth-running process of implementing an OBE system, proper planning needs to be in place. Data from the OBE system and its utilisation are essential to ensure continuous quality improvement to the curriculum and to give assurance to relevant stakeholders about the quality of graduates. There are several steps that are discussed in this paper to give pointers and guidance to other education institutions in setting up of the OBE process. However, it is undeniable that investment of time and effort is needed to ensure the smooth-running of the OBE establishment and maintenance. Significance – This study is essential to provide a guideline to relevant parties in setting up an OBE system in education institutions. An OBE system is needed to measure students’ performance objectively and effectively while enriching students’ learning experiences. This study will give pointers to the management of the education institution, policy makers, accrediting bodies and academics on implementing an OBE system in the education institutions.

The article analyzes the reflective paradigm of education as a promising strategy for Ukrainian higher education reforming. Its mission, purpose, objectives, content, functions and criteria are disclosed. Proved the priorities of the reflexive education paradigm related to the reflexive competence formation of the personality, represented by a set of components, adequate to reflective activity. The structure of reflexive competence which contains motivational-value (motives, needs, personal interest, desire, tendency to engage in reflexive activity, approach to pedagogical reflection as a value); cognitive (system of reflexive knowledge, which is the theoretical basis of reflective competence and represent a system of concepts and ideas associated with self-knowledge, self-awareness, understanding and perception of the individual student, interaction with students); operational-activity (system of reflexive skills connected with self-knowledge and understanding of another, with self-assessment and evaluation of other people, with self-interpretation and interpretation of another, with analysis and development of pedagogical technologies) components, was grounded on the basis of structural-activity trait and types of reflection. According to the structure of reflexive competence, the criteria of its formation are defined (stimulating-axiological, cognitive, praxeological). Adjusted diagnostic toolkit containing standardized and proprietary methods. The genesis of the reflective competence of future teachers in the period of vocational training in higher education is revealed. The concept of “reflexiogenesis” as a process of gradual development of reflexive competence components in the direction of their complication and extension of the range of realization of different types of pedagogical reflection synthesized in contextual reflection is introduced into scientific circulation. Proved that the initial stage of formation of reflective competence (the first course of study at a higher education institution) associated with the formation of reflection not as a professional quality, but as a basic personal education; with in the next step (the second, the thirdcourse of study at a higher education institution), there is a formation of pedagogical reflection as a professional-personal quality of the teacher; in the process of educational and professional activity (the fourthcourse of study at a higher education institution) the formation of reflexive competence as a holistic, integrated professional-personal quality of the future teacher.
