In this study, the effects of blast furnace slag (BFS) and calcite on rheological properties of self-compacting concrete (SSC) in meso and macro scales were investigated. During the preparation of replicate samples, while BFS was replaced with the cement at the rate of 10%, 20%, 30%, and 40% by weight, calcite was added to the cement at the rate of 10%, 15%, 20%, and 25% by weight. The rheological properties (plastic viscosity and yield point) and mini-slump flow values of the cement paste prepared in meso scales were determined. The fresh flow consistency of concrete prepared in macro-scale was tested with L-box flowing test. As a result, upon evaluating the rheological parameters of the pastes according to the Bingham model, while the pastes with a plastic viscosity value close to 1 Pa·s (±100 MPa·s) and a mini-slump flow rate higher than 200 mm were observed to be more resistant to segregation and form a homogeneous flow consistency, their L-box flowing rates were determined to be homogeneous and high. Ideal SSCs were made by adding 20% and 25% calcite to 30% BFS and 40% BFS replaced mixtures respectively in this study. It was also concluded that ideal SCC could be produced with paste mixtures having 1 Pa·s (±100 MPa·s) viscosity and mini-slump flow diameter higher than 200 mm. With the increase in calcite addition rates in SSCs, the passing rate for the L box test has increased

Introduction:Although hundreds million tons of concrete wastes have been generated annually in China, the use of recycled aggregate for concrete is limited because of low density and high absorption due to adhered cement paste and mortar. Methods:A new method to produce high quality recycled aggregate by heating and grinding concrete rubbles to separate cement portions adhering to aggregate was developed recently. In this process by-product powder with the fineness of 400m2/kg is generated. By-product recycled fine powder consists of fine particles of hydrated cement and crushed aggregate. To use the recycled fine powder as concrete additives two series of experiments were performed to make clear of the effect of recycled fine powder. Results and Conclusion:Self-compacting concrete with recycled fine powder, granulated blast furnace slag and granulated limestone were tested for slump flow, compressive strength, modulus of elasticity and drying shrinkage. Reduction in super plasticizing effect of high range water reducer was found for concrete with recycled powder. Compressive strength of concrete with recycled fine powder was the same as those with granulated limestone, and lower than those with granulated blast furnace slag. Concrete with recycled fine powder showed lower elastic modulus and higher drying shrinkage than those with granulated blast furnace slag and granulated limestone. The recycled fine powder is usable for self-compacting concrete without further processing, despite the possible increase in dosage of high range water reducer for a given slump flow and in drying shrinkage. The addition of granulated blast furnace slag together with recycled powder to self-compacting concrete improved super plasticizing effect of high range water reducer and properties of concrete.

To investigate experimentally, the behavior of exterior beam-column joint and strength characteristics of Self Compacting Concrete (SCC) containing Viscosity Modifying Admixture (VMA), and Ground Granulated Blast Furnace Slag (GGBFS). Since there is no standard method of mix design is available for SCC. Hence mix design was arrived as per the rules of European Federation of National Associations Representing for Concrete (EFNARC). Marsh cone test was used to find the saturation of various kind of cements by adding the dosage of super plasticizer accordingly. In this investigation SCC was made by usual ingredients such as cement, fine aggregate, coarse aggregate, water and ground granulated blast furnace slag at various replacement levels (10%, 20%, 30%, 40%, and 50%), with that the Super Plasticizer (Glenium B233) and viscosity modifying agent (Glenium Stream 2) was used in appropriate amount for achieving the better flow in the concrete. The experiments were carried out by maintaining a constant water-powder ratio of 0.45. At various replacement levels the performance of freshly prepared SCC is checked by conducting tests such as slump flow, T50 slump flow, U-tube, L-box and V-funnel tests. Mechanical characteristics like Compressive, Split-tensile and Flexural strength examined. Also, the durability study for SCC after 28, 56 and 90 days curing was done by conducting a number of the tests like saturated water absorption, porosity, carbonation depth and alkalinity measurement

Self-compacting concrete (SCC) is able to provide the ability to be easily implemented without vibration and to achieve spectacular structures, by its high fluidity and its rheological stability. By against its formulation requires a large volume of cement, which is necessary to allow its flow. The current environmental considerations lead to reduce the production of clinker however, it is essential to use cementitious additions to replace cement, because of their high availability and their moderate price. Furthermore, their use contributes in a simple and economical way to solve the problems related to the environment. The objective of our work is to study the effects of the incorporation of mineral additions such as: blast furnace slag of El-Hadjar (BFS), and marble powder (MP) on the rheological parameters of selfcompacting mortars developed in different combinations in ternary system with a substitution rate ranging from 20% to 60%. According to this study, it been found that the substitution of cement by blast furnace slag and marble powder has negatively affected the rheological behavior of the mixtures. In addition, a considerable decrease in the rheological parameters has been achieved with a substitution rate of 20% of slag and 30% of marble powder. As well as an improvement of workability has been proven to self-compacting mortars and this is due to the increase of ternary cement replacement rate by marble powder from 20% to 30%.

In the article studies of oil-filled compositions with the addition of blast-furnace slag for strength at elevated temperatures are presented. The rheological parameters of the slag cement slag cement mortar, as well as the setting time, were studied. Conclusions are drawn about the prospects of further study of slag cementcontaining compositions.
