The paper analyses the compensation-intention to quit relationship in one of the technical universities in Ghana. Employing a descriptive survey design, data on the variables are collected using one hundred self-administered valid questionnaires. Data collected were analysed by means of structural equation modelling. The results show there is no significant relationship between intentions to quit and salary, incentives, allowance and fringe benefits. However, there was an inverse relationship between the dependent variable and the predictors. The result implies managers of such institutions do not focus only on monetary, but non-monetary rewards packages drawing their compensation plan. This study provides avenues for reviewing compensation packages of technical universities in order to motivate its employees to help prevent high labour turnover. The paper is among the few that employs the structural equation modelling in its analysis.

Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) are regarded as engines of economic growth and major instruments of employment generation in Zimbabwe. However, they are hampered by a lack of resources, poor administration and the inadequate knowledge and training of employees. The primary objective of the research was to investigate the influence of organisational citizenship behaviour (OCB) and employee perception of equity (EPE) on organisational commitment (OC) in Zimbabwean SMEs. A survey design with a sample (n=464) was used. Research scales were operationalised mainly on the basis of previous work. Minor adaptations were made in order to fit the current research context and purpose. Seven-item Likert scales were used to measure OCB, EPE and OC through confirmatory factor analysis and structural equation modelling. Through structural equation modelling and path analysis, the results indicated that there are positive relationships between the posited research variables (OCB, EPE and OC). Practical recommendations are made to the managers in the SME sector to adopt professional codes of conduct at their workplace to enhance OCBs, EPE and ultimately, OC.

The study was largely quantitative and employed the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT) as its theoretical lens. The target population was 31,157 consisting of library staff and library patrons from four academic libraries in Ghana. Sampling tables and census sampling techniques were used to select a sample size of 767 respondents. Adopting a cross-sectional survey design, the study used a pre-tested questionnaire to collect data from the sampled respondents. Statistical analyses were carried out using the Statistical Package for Social Sciences. The structural equation modelling technique was further used to estimate the relationships and correlations between the theoretical constructs from the UTAUT to understand behavioural intentions and use behaviour of social media in the academic libraries. The study found that performance expectancy, effort expectancy and facilitating conditions have significant influence on the intention to use and subsequent use of social media in academic libraries in Ghana.

PurposeAlthough customer-perceived quality (CPQ) has been studied for years, very little is known about the implications of CPQ to informal retail stores particularly in collectivist and high uncertainty avoidance societies like Nigeria. More specifically, this study aims to investigate the indirect implications of CPQ to post-purchase behaviour primarily word-of-mouth (WoM) communication which is even more critical for customer acquisition in the research context. By so doing, it develops a contextualised model in which the emerging concept of commercial friendship (CF) is incorporated to mediate the relationship between CPQ and WoM communication.Design/methodology/approachUsing a survey-based design, data were gathered from 372 informal merchants’ customers. Structural equation modelling technique primarily PLS-SEM (partial least squares structural equation modelling) was used in analysing the data.FindingsThe data confirm that the multifaceted CPQ construct has an important implication for WoM through the mediation of CF. Supplementary analysis reveals that CF fully mediates one of the sub-components of CPQ, namely, personal interaction in relationship to WoM in addition to acting as a partial mediator between store policy, physical aspect and reliability and WoM.Originality/valueThe value of this study is that it draws attention to the special role that CF plays in the investigation of the relationship between CPQ and WoM communication in the research context. Additionally, it is a step towards extending and contextualising research about service quality perceptions and its outcomes in non-traditional Western contexts.

Tujuan pokok penelitian ini adalah untuk memperoleh bukti empirik mengenai pembentukan organisasi cerdas pada lembaga pendidikan tinggi. Paradigma baru organisasi adalah keharusan untuk menyesuaikan dengan lingkungan sehingga memerlukan perubahan melalui kepemimpinan dan demokratisasi. Lebih jauh, kita ingin melihat bagaimana pengaruh organisasi cerdas terhadap sikap profesional dosen.Penelitian ini dilaksanakan dengan menggunakan metode survei penjelasan pada Perguruan Tinggi Swasta di D KI Jakarta. Data yang dikumpulkan terdiri dari data sekunder yaitu melalui penyebaran kuesioner. Teknik Analisis data menggunakan  Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) dengan pendekatan Path Analysis (Analisis Jalur).Berdasarkan analisis dan pembahasan hasil penelitian ini, maka dapat disimpulkan beberapa hal sebagai berikut: (1) Tanggung jawab pimpinan memiliki pengaruh yang sangat signifikan terhadap organisasi cerdas, (2) Iklim demokrasi memiliki pengaruh yang signifikan terhadap organisasi cerdas, (3) Tanggung jawab pimpinan tidak memiliki pengaruh yang signifikan terhadap Iklim demokrasi, dan (4) Organisasi cerdas memiliki pengaruh yang signifikan terhadap sikap profesional.

Salah satu fungsi utama dari perpustakaan adalah pengemasan dan penyebaran informasi, bukanlah penciptaan informasi. Sehingga perpustakaan dituntut untuk memberikan layanan informasi yang lebih baik dan tepat guna. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh kualitas pelayanan terhadap kepuasan dan loyalitas serta pengaruh dari kepuasan terhadap loyalitas pengunjung di perpustakaan Daerah Kabupaten Sumenep. Sampel yang diteliti sebanyak 200 orang yang terdiri dari Siswa, Mahasiswa dan Umum. Data dianalisis dengan menggunakan analisis structural equation modelling (SEM). Berdasarkan hasil analisis dapat disimpulkan bahwa semakin baik kualitas pelayanan, maka semakin meningkat kepuasan pengunjung serta pengunjung akan semakin royal terhadap perpustakaan Daerah Kabupaten Sumenep. Key Word :      Perpustakaan, Structural Equation Modelling (SEM), Kualitas Pelayanan, Kepuasan Dan Loyalitas

Salah satu pemanfaatan perkembangan teknologi informasi di dunia pendidikan di perguruan tinggi swasta (PTS) yaitu dengan memanfaatkan dan mengimplementasikan sistem informasi akademik (SIA) berbasis web. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meneliti kontribusi teknologi dan infrastruktur (TI), desain (DS), sumber daya manusia (SD) dan budaya (BD) dalam pengembangan SIA berbasis web pada PTS di Palembang. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode kuantitatif, sedangkan teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan metode angket. Metode analisa data pada penelitian ini menggunakan Structural Equation Modelling (SEM). Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah PTS di Palembang yang memiliki SIA berbasis web yaitu Universitas Bina Darma dan STMIK Palcomtech. Sedangkan yang dijadikan responden yaitu mahasiswa, dosen dan staff. Hasil dari penelitian menunjukkan bahwa teknologi dan infrastruktur, desain, sumber daya manusia dan budaya berkontribusi terhadap pengembangan SIA berbasis web pada PTS di Palembang.
