The present study were carried out to assess the hygiene practices and food safety among street food vendors in the city of Chandigarh. It includes 100 samples of vendors.  Fifty vendors were mobile and other 50 was fixed vendors. A self planned questionnaire was used for data collection for the vendors. The questionnaire included questions about demographic information, hygiene practices and food safety. Thirty eight percent of vendors used stalls, but did not uphold their stalls well.  Eighty-three per cent of the vendors had thrown garbage in the open vessel and 14.0% used dustbin for dispose garbage. Personal hygiene was also observed which indicated that the vendors never wear the head covers, handled food with bare hand and they did not wear overcoats/aprons as well. Street food vendors were not aware of hygienic and sanitary practice.

 Background: To assess the periodontal health status among Koraga tribal community residing in Mangalore Taluk.Methods: The study subjects comprised of 400 Koraga tribal’s in the age range of 20-55 years living in Mangalore Taluk. The data regarding oral hygiene practices prevalent in the tribal population was collected by interviewing. Intra oral examination was carried out by using mouth mirror and CPI probe and included simplified oral hygiene index (OHI-S), community periodontal index (CPI), loss of attachment and dental aesthetic index (DAI).Results: Of the total population examined, 81% brushed once daily with 34% of the subjects using tooth paste and brush as oral hygiene aid while, the rest of them used a combination, with other indigenous methods. Majority of them used tobacco in the smokeless form (36%). The oral hygiene status was poor in 56% of the subjects. The present study showed that majority of the Koragas suffered from various gingival and periodontal diseases as assessed by community periodontal index. The dental aesthetic index indicated that 37.5 % of study subjects had very severe malocclusion.Conclusions: This group of people has a poor oral hygiene and periodontal status because they are deprived of the awareness and availability of treatment facilities. Their inappropriate oral hygiene practices, inadequate dental health resources and low socio-economic status are the major factors in this population to cause increased prevalence of periodontal disease.

The objective of this study is to explore the relationship between the current food safety knowledge of street food vendors and their hygiene practices in Tra Vinh city. Fifty street food vendors were randomly selected and the survey was conducted using a face-to-face interview method through the questionnaire. The results showed evidence of a slight relationship between the food safety knowledge of the street food vendors and their hygiene practices (r = 0.27, p > 0.05).  Based on the demographic information, the education might be the most important factor for a better understanding of the variability of the food safety  knowledge (F = 3.54, p < 0.05), but not that of the hygiene practices (F = 0.78, p > 0.05). Until recently, the training of food safety knowledge has been conducted with the expectation that street food vendors would prepare and store food safely in case they would have adequate food safety and hygiene knowledge.  However, our study shows that the current training way has not been effective due to the fact that the behavior of street food vendors who were trained was not different from the behavior of street food vendors who were not trained

Aims: The aims of this study were to gain an understanding of pregnant women s oral hygiene practices and to assess the oral and dental health status. Materials and Methods: A semi - structured questionnaire was completed by 100 pregnant women of the gynecology department of Dr. Akhter Jahan Mirza Hospital, Dhaka. Results: The women in this study 40% were in 19-22 years age group. Forty eight percent (48%) women of the subjects were having up to high school level education & 28% had low income of Sixty Thousand to One Lac taka yearly. In relation to oral hygiene habit before pregnancy majority of the women (56%) stated that they brush their teeth once a day, 19% use dental floss and 14% use mouth rinse once a day. During pregnancy women seemed to be slightly more concerned about oral hygiene but not significantly. Only 66% brush their teeth and 17% floss their teeth and 18% use mouth rinse once a day during pregnancy. The major problem in their mouth noticed by the women during pregnancy was bleeding gums (58%). Conclusion: This study feels the necessity of giving special attention to pregnant women s oral health in Bangladesh. Women should be educated on good oral hygiene practices so as to minimize prevalence of poor maternal oral health during pregnancy.
