AbstractThe impact of Newtonian heating on a time-dependent fractional magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) Maxwell fluid over an unbounded upright plate is investigated. The equations for heat, mass and momentum are established in terms of Caputo (C), Caputo–Fabrizio (CF) and Atangana–Baleanu (ABC) fractional derivatives. The solutions are evaluated by employing Laplace transforms. The change in the momentum profile due to variability in the values of parameters is graphically illustrated for all three C, CF and ABC models. The ABC model has proficiently revealed a memory effect.

This paper presents a comparison between two design methodologies applied to permanent magnet synchronous machines for hybrid and electric vehicles (HEVs and EVs). Both methodologies are based on 2D finite element models and coupled to a genetic algorithm to optimize complex non-linear geometries such as multi-layer permanent magnet machines. To reduce the computation duration to evaluate Induced Voltage and Iron Losses for a given electrical machine configuration, a new methodology based on geometrical symmetries and magnetic symmetries are used and is detailed. Two electromagnetic models have been developed and used in the design stage. The first model was the stepped rotor position finite element analysis called abc model which considered the spatial harmonics without any approximation of the waveform of flux linkage inside the stator, and the second model was based on a fixed rotor position called dq model, with the approximation that the waveform of flux linkage inside the stator was sinuous. These two methodologies are applied to the design of a synchronous machine for HEVs and EVs applications. Design results and performances are analyzed, and the advantages and drawbacks of each methodology are presented. It was found that the dq model is at least 5 times faster than the abc model with high precision for both the torque and induce voltage evaluation in most cases. However, it is not the case for the iron losses computation. The iron loss model based on dq model is less accurate than the abc model with a relative deviation from the abc model greater than 70% at high control angle. The choice of the electromagnetic model during the optimization process will therefore influence the geometry and the performances of the obtained electrical machine after the optimization.

The works on degradation of light emitting diodes (LEDs) with quantum wells (QW) were analysed. The calculation model of the relation between LED luminous flux and duration of LED current flow and current density was proposed. It allows us to forecast service life of such radiators with the pre-set electric modes and temperature. It is demonstrated that: – Reduction of quantum yield of LED with QW based on high-bandgap semiconductors with longterm flow of forward current occurs due to generation of point defects in the QW areas; – The dot defects occur as a result of interaction between hot electrons and semiconductor atoms caused by subthreshold displacement out of the lattice dots; – The dot defects create non-radiative recombination centres with particular concentration in the energy gap of a semiconductor, as a result of which intensities of recombination flows in QWs and in barriers between QWs redistribute towards the non-radiative component of the ABC model.

Literature-Based Discovery (LBD) aims to help researchers to identify relations between concepts which are worthy of further investigation by text-mining the biomedical literature. The vast majority of the LBD research follows the ABC model: a relation (A,C) is a candidate for discovery if there is some intermediate concept B which is related to both A and C. The ABC model has been successful in applications where the search space is strongly constrained, but there is limited evidence about its usefulness when applied in a broader context. Through a case study of 8 recent discoveries related to neurodegenerative diseases (NDs), we show the limitations of the ABC model in an open-ended context. The study emphasizes the impact of the choice of source data and extraction method on the resulting knowledge base: different "views" of the biomedical literature offer different levels of accuracy and coverage. We propose a novel contrastive approach which leverages these differences between "views" in order to target relations between concepts of interest. We explore various parameters and demonstrate the relevance of our approach through quantitative evaluation on the 8 target discoveries. The source data used in this article are publicly available. The different parts of the software used to process the data are published under open-source license and provided with detailed instructions. A prototype of the system is also provided as an online exploration tool.

Background/Purpose: Developing and Maintaining quality in higher education is an essential aspect of the sustainability of universities. National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), India has developed a new model of HEIs assessment and accreditation from July 2017. Based on its assessment, NAAC announces the final result in the form of Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) between 0 to 4.0, which is a combination of evaluation of qualitative and quantitative metrics with three parts including peer team report, graphical representation based on quantitative metric, and institutional grade sheet. Out of more than 380 universities assessment out of about 950 universities as on 30/042021, only 9 universities have been graded as A++ letter grade by NAAC. Objectives: Study on Criteria wise performance of top nine A++ scored Indian Universities according to NAAC Accreditation, full scores obtained in various criteria with reasons, compare research performance and analyse it using ABC model of research productivity, the effect of organizational leaders as role models on the research output, and to critically analyse the organizational SWOC based on NAAC data and outcome. Design/Methodology/Approach: Analysis of information collected from self-study reports of NAAC A++ graded universities, comparing and analyzing criteria wise, and analyzing research productivity of these universities and their leaders using ABC model of annual Research performance framework. Findings/Result: Out of nine NAAC A++ graded universities, five universities got full scores in the Curricular Aspects criterion. The universities are ranked based on their overall scores in the accreditation process. Based on the scores obtained in different criteria, the strengths and weaknesses of these universities are studied. These nine universities are further ranked based on their annual research performance and the leaders/Vice-chancellors research annual research productivity by considering the last five years research productivity. It is observed that many vice-chancellors failed to contribute to universities research outcomes as role models and motivators to other researchers of these universities. A comparative study on research performance-based grading is found to be ambiguous and little disparity is observed on key indicator-based university grading. Based on observations, some general recommendations are suggested. Research limitations/implications: This study used the data from the Self-study Report, Peer Team Report, and Grade Report of respective universities kept for public reference in the NAAC website in accordance with the new accreditation framework, downloaded on 30/04/2021. Originality/Value: This paper compares the research performance of nine NAAC A++ accredited universities of India using their last 5 years’ research data and identifies the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and challenges of these universities for further improvement. The qualitative model presented in this work recovers the onset of the four fields that correspond to those of each floral organ whorl of Arabidopsis flower, suggesting a mechanism for the generation of the positional information required for the differential expression of the A, B, and C identity genes according to the ABC model for organ determination during early stages of flower development. Our model integrates a previous model for the emergence of WUS pattern in the floral meristem, and shows that this pre-pattern is a necessary but not sufficient condition for the posterior information of the four fields predicted by the ABC model. Furthermore, our model predicts that LFY diffusion along the L1 layer of cells is not a necessary condition for the patterning of the floral meristem.
