This manuscript addresses the feasibility and significance of using a sine function to modify the system error of a normal linear feedback control to achieve more efficient capabilities in terms of energy-saving. The associated mathematic modeling and assessment were demonstrated by presenting a case analysis on the capabilities of controlling water level for a single tank. The principle of robust control and the theories and detailed algorithm of Lyapunov stability were applied to assess the result derived by novel nonlinear feedback in the form of sine function for optimizing the robustness of the PID (Proportional–Integral–Derivative) controller and economizing energy. Two control simulations are compared: nonlinear feedback control using a sine function and conventional fuzzy control. The results reveal that using the nonlinear feedback controller, a reduction of up to 32.9% of the average controlled quantity is achieved, and the performance index is improved by 24.0% with satisfactory robustness. The proposed nonlinear feedback control using a sine function provides simplicity, convenient implementation, and energy efficiency.

Controlled dynamic systems with an entropy operator (DSEO) are considered. Mathematical models of such systems were used to study the dynamic properties in demo-economic systems, the spatiotemporal evolution of traffic flows, recurrent procedures for restoring images from projections, etc. Three problems of the study of DSEO are considered: the existence and uniqueness of singular points and the influence of control on them; stability in “large” of the singular points; and optimization of program control with linear feedback. The theorems of existence, uniqueness, and localization of singular points are proved using the properties of equations with monotone operators and the method of linear majorants of the entropy operator. The theorem on asymptotic stability of the DSEO in “large” is proven using differential inequalities. Methods for the synthesis of quasi-optimal program control and linear feedback control with integral quadratic quality functional, and ensuring the existence of a nonzero equilibrium, were developed. A recursive method for solving the integral equations of the DSEO using the multidimensional functional power series and the multidimensional Laplace transform was developed. The problem of managing regional foreign direct investment is considered, the distribution of flows is modeled by the corresponding DSEO. It is shown that linear feedback control is a more effective tool than program control.

Non-linear Marangoni waves, which are generated by the long-wave oscillatory instability of the conductive state in a thin liquid film heated from below in the case of a deformable free surface and a substrate of very low conductivity, are considered. Previously, the investigation of traveling Marangoni waves was restricted to the analysis of the bifurcation and stability with respect to disturbances with strongly different wave vectors. In the present article, for the first time, the modulational instability of traveling waves is investigated. We derive the amplitude equation for the modulated traveling wave, which describes non-linear interaction of the main convective pattern with the perturbations with slightly different wavenumbers. The amplitude equation differs from the conventional complex Ginzburg–Landau equation as it contains an additional term of the local liquid level rise. Linear stability analysis reveals two modulational instability modes: the amplitude modulational and the phase modulational (Benjamin–Feir) ones. It is shown that traveling rolls are stable against the longitudinal modulation for the uncontrolled convection. We also investigate the influence of the non-linear feedback control, which was applied previously to eliminate subcritical excitation of traveling rolls. Computations reveal both the modulational modes under the non-linear feedback control. The obtained results show that the modulational instabilities significantly influence the region of parameters where the non-linear feedback control is efficient for stabilization of waves.

Fractional analysis provides useful tools to describe natural phenomena, and therefore, it is more convenient to describe models of satellites. This work illustrates rich chaotic behaviors that exist in a fractional-order model for satellite with and without time-delay. The proof for existence and uniqueness of the satellite model’s solution with and without time-delay is shown. Chaos control is achieved in this system via a simple linear feedback control criterion. Chaotic attractors and chaos control are also found in a time-delay version of the proposed fractional-order satellite system. Various tools based on numerical simulations such as 2D and 3D attractors and bifurcation diagrams are used to illustrate the variety of rich chaotic dynamics in the satellite models.

Energy storage is a basic physical process with many applications. When considering this task at the quantum scale, it becomes important to optimise the non-equilibrium dynamics of energy transfer to the storage device or battery. Here, we tackle this problem using the methods of quantum feedback control. Specifically, we study the deposition of energy into a quantum battery via an auxiliary charger. The latter is a driven-dissipative two-level system subjected to a homodyne measurement whose output signal is fed back linearly into the driving field amplitude. We explore two different control strategies, aiming to stabilise either populations or quantum coherences in the state of the charger. In both cases, linear feedback is shown to counteract the randomising influence of environmental noise and allow for stable and effective battery charging. We analyse the effect of realistic control imprecisions, demonstrating that this good performance survives inefficient measurements and small feedback delays. Our results highlight the potential of continuous feedback for the control of energetic quantities in the quantum regime.
