Mesembryanthemum crystallinum is considered a drought and saline stress-tolerant plant with many biological activities that has been revalued as cool flavouring plant. The objective of this work was to assess optimum mode of cultivation of M. crystallinum to produce edible parts under greenhouse conditions. Therefore, three soilless media were evaluated: peat, vermiculite and hydroponic culture. Pot culture in peat did not result to be a good substrate for iceplant, with little biomass production. However, vermiculite and hydroponics allowed optimum growth of M. crystallinum, with a significantly greater yield in plants grown in vermiculite irrigated with nutrient solution. In fact, plants cultivated in vermiculite enhanced leaf area and leaf fresh weight, together with high foliar concentrations of N, Mg, Mn, Fe, Na, clorophylls and carotenoids. Furthermore, increased succulence and Na concentration of edible parts of glacier lettuce grown in vermiculite can offer more interesting taste, consistence and nutrient content for consumers. Higlights Hydroponic and vermiculite cultures led to optimum crystallinum growth. Peat pot culture did not seem to be an adequate substrate to cultivate crystallinum. Ice plants grown in vermiculite presented highest leaf fresh yield and high foliar N, Mg, Mn, Fe, Na, chlorophyll and carotenoid concentrations.

The method of preliminary chemical activation of mineral raw materials was used in the conducted studies for the complex processing of pyritic slags. The influence of preliminary chemical activation of kaolinite clays of Alexeevsky deposit in the solution of sodium hydrogen carbonate on the separation of kaolinite and quartz fractions was studied. The temperature of 150 oC, the duration of 120 minutes, and the concentration of sodium bicarbonate solution of 120 g/dm3 should be considered the optimum mode of activation. As a result of activation, the phase composition of the kaolinite fraction changed: the percentage of kaolinite fraction decreased; new phases of muscovite and sodium aluminosilicate appeared; the amount of quartz increased.

In  hybrid LRU algorithm was built to execute parameterized priority queue using Least Recently Used model. It helped to determine the object in an optimum mode to remove from cache.  Experiment results demonstrated ~30% decrease of the execution time to extract data from cache store during object cache extraction process.  In the era of modern utility computing theory, Serverless architecture is the cloud platform concept to hide the server usage from the development community and runs the code on-demand basis.  This paper provides Hybrid LRU algorithm by leveraging Serverless Architecture benefits.  Eventually, this new technique added few advantages like infrastructure instance scalability, no server management, reduced cost on efficient usage, etc.  This paper depicts about the experimental advantage of Hybrid LRU execution time optimization using Serverless architecture.

This chapter deals with the management of bone loss in open fractures with particular reference to the tibia. This is a challenging problem and requires input and expertise from orthopaedic and plastic surgery specialists in limb reconstruction. The different sizes, shapes, and location of the defect will have diverse implications, and management must be individualised. Individualisation of treatment entails an assessment of the local, systemic, and patient-related factors such that the optimum mode of treatment is chosen. The techniques available include autogenous bone grafting, with or without prior induced membrane creation, vascularised free transfer of bone, and bone regeneration by the Ilizarov method.
