The article contributes to the ongoing discussion of the potential of using eye-tracking recordings in ethnomethodological conversation analysis (EMCA) by exploring to what extent and under what circumstances such recordings may be useful for EMCA studies of multimodal social interaction. For this purpose, it analyzes examples of social conduct recorded by one video camera and one set of eye-tracking glasses. The article concludes that while eye-tracking recordings may, in some specific cases, provide new analytic possibilities for studying social action, they are by no means indispensable for EMCA research in multimodal social interaction, and making use of mobile eye-tracking equipment and recordings may compromise the data as well as the analytic procedure.

The spread of misinformation is a global phenomenon, with implications for elections, state-sanctioned violence, and health outcomes. Yet, even though scholars have investigated the capacity of fact-checking to reduce belief in misinformation, little evidence exists on the global effectiveness of this approach. We describe fact-checking experiments conducted simultaneously in Argentina, Nigeria, South Africa, and the United Kingdom, in which we studied whether fact-checking can durably reduce belief in misinformation. In total, we evaluated 22 fact-checks, including two that were tested in all four countries. Fact-checking reduced belief in misinformation, with most effects still apparent more than 2 wk later. A meta-analytic procedure indicates that fact-checks reduced belief in misinformation by at least 0.59 points on a 5-point scale. Exposure to misinformation, however, only increased false beliefs by less than 0.07 points on the same scale. Across continents, fact-checks reduce belief in misinformation, often durably so.

This paper examined the relationship between stock market development and performance of the Nigerian economy. The analysis scope covered a period of 10 years spanning from 2010-2020. The analytic procedure for the information was econometric. The estimation techniques used are co-integration, Granger Causality and Error Correction to check whether the exchange indices have impacted on the macroeconomic performance of Nigeria. The result showed that the constant parameter is negatively or inversely associated with LGDP.The coefficient of the constant parameter (B0) is –15038.18. This suggests that if all the explanatory variables are held constant, LGDP which is that the explained variable will increase by 15038.18 units. Conclusively, all variables might not have been reasons enough for a change in the Gross domestic product level, but the fact still remains that there is an affinity between them. The study recommends that the central bank of Nigeria (CBN) being the monetary authority should plan and implement policies that bring about an increase flow of investment funds and improves the extent of capitalisation to the economy.

The current research examines whether a visual syllabus aids in information retention compared to a traditional text-based syllabus. The data derive from two lower-division sociology classes, each having a different syllabus format. Utilizing a syllabus quiz during the first week of the class provides the data about whether syllabus format matters. The data suggest the visual syllabus class retained more information given that students exposed to the visual approach scored significantly higher on a quiz than the traditional syllabus class. The current research presents an overview of why visuals may help in information retention with emphasis on the importance of inclusive course material and nontraditional students; an explanation of the data, methods, and analytic procedure followed by the findings; as well as a critical evaluation of and points to consider when creating a visual syllabus.

This article investigates consumers’ motives for using closet sharing services to satisfy their desire for luxury fashion brands. A thematic analytic procedure is carried out in six phases. Qualitative data in the form of testimonials from both renters and lenders were collected from Style Lend’s blog, also known as “The Style Lend Insider.” Findings indicate that there are eight main categories of motives for sharing closets. These motives are fashion innovativeness, hedonic experience, economic, sustainability, utilitarian, social, need for uniqueness, and no burden of ownership. Our study also provides theoretical and practical insights into relevant stakeholders related to the collaborative fashion consumption of luxury brands.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to reveal the co-editing mechanism aiming at content creation, and an entry of online encyclopedia is taken as a case, for the purpose of promoting and enhancing the development of wiki-based digital humanities projects (WDHPs), specifically, the projects that focus on gathering contextual information in the culture heritage domain. Design/methodology/approach An exploratory study was conducted by three steps. A representative entry’s editorial records were reorganized to obtain a data set of discussion statements (n=608), based on which linked-structures were built, and PageRank algorithm was used to analyze the co-editing process. Skewness statistic was applied to measure the consensus of co-editing, and consensus evolution over time was explored. Linear or curve fitting was performed to analyze the correlation between consensus evolution and its influential factors. Findings In WDHPs, co-editing activity of content creation can be considered as a large-scale group discussion, consensus can evaluate the efficiency of co-editing, which evolves with time and is influenced by the number of statements, breadth and depth of argumentation structure. Taking “Mogao Grottoes” as an example, group discussions around 15 key issues dominate the content creating process, consensus is on a rise with time, finally reaches a relatively high level, and consensus evolution is more influenced by breadth than by depth of argumentation structure, which indicates that co-editing efficiency of “Mogao Grottoes” is fine and more argumentation in a depth manner should be guided. Practical implications For researchers of WDHPs, it is beneficial to apply online encyclopedia platform combining with consensus analysis to develop WDHPs. For designers of WDHPs, the elements related to argumentation structure can be absorbed into the design to promote co-editing in an effective manner. For DH researchers, the analytic procedure can be beneficial of revealing the interest of contributors in a specific DH field. Originality/value This research is novel in comprehensively understanding co-editing mechanism of content creation in WDHPs, resulting in a three-step analytic procedure of presenting co-editing process, evaluating and improving co-editing efficiency.

With the fast blast in specialized advancement, clinical field is creating like anything. For making right stable we need participation from every hand. As such, presently a day's clinical and building innovation, each are consolidated and making new developments in medicinal field. These advancements are edifying the life of human by method for providing appropriate treatment. Medicinal field arrived at an unprecedented area in diagnosing tumors after the revelation of CT and MRI. Ongoing bioengineering specialists worried in clinical picture division calculations to accelerate the doctor's analytic procedure. Tumor division from attractive reverberation imaging (MRI) data is an imperative anyway time eating manual venture completed by means of medicinal specialists. The an assortment of present mechanized ability tumor division strategies are being depicted here. Likewise, proposed another calculation to wind up mindful of the tumor territory and to figure its place dependent on morphological activity

Aim: Blood-based biomarkers related to immune- and neuroregulatory processes may be indicative of dementia but lack standardization and proof-of-principle studies. Materials & methods: The blood serum collection protocol as well as the analytic procedure to quantify the markers BDNF, IGF-1, VEGF, TGF-β 1, MCP-1 and IL-18 in blood serum were standardized and their concentrations were compared between groups of 81 Alzheimer’s disease patients and 79 healthy controls. Results: Applying standardized methods, results for the quantification of the six markers in blood serum are stable and their concentrations significantly differ for all analytes except VEGF between patients diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease and healthy controls. Conclusion: Analyzing a panel of six markers in blood serum under standardized conditions may serve as a diagnostic tool in primary dementia care in the future.
