The study examines demographic variables' role in academicians' proactive work behaviour (PWB) in private universities. Independent sample t-test and one-way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) were performed using self-reported data from 287 academicians. Results show that academicians demonstrated moderate proactivity level. Male demonstrate higher proactiveness compared to females. Married workers score higher on PWB. An academician who holds a managerial position tends to be more proactive compared to others. Furthermore, Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) holder displays a higher level of productivity. The findings offer practical suggestions to the university to address the situation and delegate job assignments based on individual differences. Unpaid housework among married working couples is largely done by women in Japan, causing health losses due to work-to-family conflict. However, monetary values for the poor health condition of working mothers with multiple roles have not been explored. The purpose of this study is to examine the impacts of health conditions on life satisfaction (LS) among middle-aged Japanese men and women and attach a monetary value to self-assessed poor health (SAPH). The well-being valuation approach applied monetary values to health losses among middle-aged working persons, using a total of 6,779 married workers drawn from a nationwide 6 wave (2007, 2009, 2011–2014) longitudinal data from the Japanese Life Course Panel Survey of Middle-aged Persons. Female workers having multiple roles as employees and housewives, who spent at least 35 hours per week on market work are defined as women with multiple roles. LS was used as a proxy of individuals’ subjective well-being. Considering the endogeneity between SAPH and LS, I used the two-stage residual inclusion approach with generalized residuals. Major findings are (1) health losses of women with multiple roles were 1.47 times of the equivalent household income; larger than those of men with multiple roles, and (2) health losses of women with multiple roles can be reduced by around 9.5% of the equivalent household income if the spouse shares the housework by engaging in frequent cleaning of the house. Taking health losses of women with multiple roles into consideration, middle-aged men should reconsider the allocation of work attributable to the attitudes toward gender roles.

Abstract Zoonotic tuberculosis is a major form of TB affecting humans and many animal species. Infected cattle pose a threat to public health. The aim of the study was to characterize the risks of exposure to bovine tuberculosis by slaughterhouse workers in Brazzaville. A survey was carried out among 57 workers from three slaughterhouses in Brazzaville (Mpila, Kanga Mbanzi and La Fougère) using questionnaires and field observations. The results of the profile revealed that the majority of staff are made up mainly of people over 40 years old (40.6 ± 8.4) i.e. 50.9% and 96.5% male. Married workers represent a third of respondents (29.8%) and live in families made up of 4.9 ± 2.4 people. Workers with secondary education are the majority (66.7%). The average number of years of work in slaughterhouses in Brazzaville is 18.9 ± 9.5 years. The survey also showed that many workers, 52.6%, have never received training to work in slaughterhouses. A tier of workers (31.7%) have no knowledge of animal tuberculosis, in particular its modes of transmission or its clinical signs. The premises are; normal, regularly cleaned, but are not disinfected. Despite the common occurrence of injuries, 73.7% of those surveyed said that they were not subjected to medical checks. To this, we must add, the lack of work clothes adapted by some (29.8%). All of these shortcomings constitute significant risks of contamination from zoonoses, and tuberculosis in particular. Thus, the study recommends strengthening the capacities of professionals in slaughterhouses, their medical follow-up and improve infrastructure. Finally, the fight against zoonotic tuberculosis requires a multisectoral framework involving doctors and veterinarians in the context of the "One Health" approach.

Purpose The researchers wanted to examine work-family enrichment using the antecedent variables of proactivity, work-family self-efficacy (WFSE) and family permeability, Design/methodology/approach The researchers selected married individuals working full time with at least one child younger than the age of 16. Respondents were drawn from the IT sectors in the large southern Indian cities of Bengaluru and Hyderabad. Data were collected using self-administered questionnaires. Respondents answered questions about their proactive personality, WFSE, family permeability, WFE and job satisfaction, in addition to demographic variables around age, gender, children and dual-earner status. Findings The results show the influence of work-family enrichment (WFE) on job satisfaction. The authors said the strong correlations between the three personality-based antecedents and WFE made it essential for managers to consider each individual worker’s personality traits, as well as to produce work policies and job specifications that helped people to manage their work-family interrelationships. Originality/value The authors say the research has made three unique contributions to work-family literature. First, they have explored individual preferences and personality variables that result in greater enrichment. Second, the study has advanced WFE literature by considering family permeability as a preference. Finally, the study has answered the calls of previous researchers to look at variables like work-family self-efficacy as additional resources that help enrichment.
