Diversification is a basic economic principle that helps to hedge against uncertainty. It is, therefore, intuitive that both risk aversion and ambiguity aversion should positively affect the value of diversification. In this paper, we show that this intuition (1) is true for risk aversion but (2) is not necessarily true for ambiguity aversion. We derive sufficient conditions, showing that, contrary to the economic intuition, ambiguity and ambiguity aversion may actually reduce the diversification value. This paper was accepted by Manel Baucells, decision analysis.

Forests are under immense stress globally. Economic growth is one reason for this: its impacts can lead to deforestation and put tremendous harvesting pressure on forests. In light of increasingly popular – and growth-based – bioeconomy strategies, the need for more wood is likely to accelerate. Degrowth, in contrast, rejects economic growth as the central economic principle, arguing that the material throughput of countries in the Global North must shrink to achieve global sustainability. Although the concept has gained importance, there have been no attempts to link degrowth with the forest sector. This article argues that degrowth principles are beneficial for basing the forest sector on sustainable grounds, while the degrowth movement also needs to define its relationship to the forest. Against this backdrop, this contribution sets the cornerstone by linking the Swiss forest sector to central degrowth principles, and discussing possible interrelations and mismatches. Finally, a future research agenda for degrowth and the forest sector is presented.

Abstract This paper aims to study a kind of interrogative in Yi which surfaces as an AA form commonly viewed as AA/Reduplicative Question. It explores the interrogative motivation, question type, generative mechanism and syntactic derivation of AA Question. We first assume that (i) AA question in Yi is a kind of alternative question, which is reduced successively from A-or-not-A and A-not-A question and (ii) the [+Q] feature of AA question does not result from reduplication but from other reasons. To justify these two assumptions, we use tests including adverb tests, modal tests, tag question tests, SFP tests, Q & A tests, and cross-language investigation and sociolinguistic survey. The findings include (i) the [+Q] feature of AA question results from the existence of an abstract interrogative morpheme, (ii) the phenomenon of reduplication is just a kind of byproduct with the syntactic derivation of AA question and (iii) AA question, diachronically speaking, is essentially a kind of alternative question, which is reduced successively from A-or-not-A and A-not-A question to meet the economic principle of language.

This essay explores how, in each of Jacques Derrida’s late encounters with psychoanalysis, he critiques the limit of a certain economic principle of the Freudian death drive, opening up its deterministic logic to a principle of indetermination. The essay draws out three key terms—aneconomy from Archive Fever, indirection from “Psychoanalysis Searches the States of Its Soul,” and undecidability from Glas and The Death Penalty seminars—to show how Derrida suggests a move beyond an “economy of the possible,” thereby showcasing the potentiality of a properly deconstructive psychoanalytic thought. With these three movements, the essay traces the implications of Derrida’s “principled” critique of the economy of the death drive for his consideration of the death penalty.

The basis for the environmental safety of agricultural products should be the production of products in accordance with natural resources. In other words, it is the idea of a closed cycle, where organic livestock fertilizers are both an ecological and economic principle of production. Species diversity in the ecosystem is also an important factor in environmental safety. These are different ways of crop rotation, regulating the formation of weeds and their destruction by mechanical means, rather than by chemical means, laying hedges and habitats. These measures protect nature and do not disturb its ecological balance. Ecological agriculture aims to consider and use the soil more efficiently. For example, wetlands are better used for grassland farming rather than ploughing these sites. Also long overdue is the problem of state support of domestic farmers who produce the cleanest ecological products, more similar in composition to organic products. Guided by the principles of landscaping in agriculture, it is possible to obtain products that will not bring harm, will be high-quality and useful.

The paper attempts to analyze the impacts of gold price, oil price, exchange rate, consumer price index, and BI rate to Jakarta Islamic Index using VAR- VECM analysis. The result shows that in long term all variables have a significant impact to JII. Gold price has negative impact to JII 4,1% and stable after 12 months, oil price has positive impact 1% and stable after 21 months, exchange rate has positive impact 3,8% and stable after 17 months, consumer price index has positive impact 0,5% and stable after 21 months, and BI rate has negative impact 6,2% and stable after 15 months. BI rate also gives the biggest impact‟s contribution into JII. This result is very contradictory with Islamic economic principle “No-Riba Oriented”.
