The first interprofessional course, which included the 8 undergraduate health programs at the Faculty of Medicine, the University of Chile was implemented in 2015. For 700 students, 35 teachers were trained as facilitators. The use of several strategies to train facilitators in interprofessional health education, such as working in small groups, role-playing, case analysis, personal development workshops with experts' participation, teamwork skills, feedback, videos, and reading articles, proved to be helpful. Facilitators highlighted the use of syllabi as a fundamental tool for teaching and coordination. This guide describes the experience in interprofessional health education teacher training from 2015 to 2019, highlighting the following lessons learned: the importance of support from university authorities, raising awareness of the faculty about interprofessional health education and collaborative practice, creating a teachers’ coordination team including representatives from all health programs, and ongoing monitoring and feedback from participants.

Palavras-chave: Educação Interprofissional; Universidade; Extensão Comunitária University extension and health education: tutorial group experiences in the Through Work Program in Interprofessional Health Education (PET-Health) Abstract: University extension is an educational component that allows theoretical-practical learning, maximizing classroom teaching. “Through Work Program in Interprofessional Health Education” (PET-Health) is a program that aims to improve and specialize in service and encourage collaborative practice. This study reports the activities of a PET-Health tutorial group from the Feira de Santana State University during the first year of the program. This article is an experience report developed by students (undergraduates in Pharmacy, Medicine and Dentistry), two teachers (tutors, bachelors in Dentistry and Physiotherapy), and five health professionals (tutors, four nurses, and one dentist) in the municipality of Feira de Santana (Bahia state, Brazil), with the Diabetic and Hypertensive Care Center as the practice scenario. The actions were carried out from April to December 2019, and the results were systematized in two axes: promotion of teaching-service-community integration and development of teaching and health preceptorship. In axis 1, training workshops, meetings, interprofessional and health education actions, and standard operating procedures were developed. In axis 2, the activities developed allowed the participants to approach active teaching methodologies and encourage the construction of articles and presentation of papers at events. AbstractThe process of interprofessional health education happens when two or more professions work together, learning among themselves, with the other and about the other. Abstract Background Interprofessionality is a tool for optimizing the human resources available towards the consolidation of a resolutive healthcare. However, applying it is a challenge due to the fragmented training of health professionals. Objective to describe the experience of planning and executing an interprofessional health education activity. Methods An educational workshop was developed aiming at interprofessional health practice. A clinical case was distributed, which addressed the story of an elderly person who suffered a stroke and lived with the sequels of this episode in addition to emotional trauma from the experience. Each professional was asked to define a therapeutic proposal for the case and one of them was invited to present his proposal and complement it based on the suggestions of the other members. Results the workshop enabled the perception that, in isolation, no profession would be able to fully contemplate the patient's needs. Therefore, it encouraged the use of integrated action between different professionals by demonstrating that punctual and disjointed actions would not be sufficient to act effectively in the care and needs related to the individual's health. Conclusions the final product of this workshop resulted in a consistent activity contemplated by multiple perspectives, experiences and knowledges which would not be so successful if planned in isolation by a single professional group. Key messages Due to its low cost, interprofessional action responds to the new health needs of contemporary times and its implementation is of great value in combating the fragmented trend in health training. The interprofessional view is a common ground to health not only where the study took place but worldwide, consolidating itself as a valuable asset to the construction of integral healthcare.
