A gateway based on ARM is presented to achieve mutil-protocol conversion among different electronic control units. To guarantee its real-time ability and stability, the μC/OS-II embedded operation system was adopted. The first-in-first-out data queue is used to balance the communication rate among the different communication protocols which consist of the Controller Area Network, TCP/IP and RS-232. The gateway can be used in remotely manipulation between the console with Ethernet and remote underwater vehicle with other serial communication protocols.

Nitrite ion concentration is an important parameter in aquaculture water. To measure nitrite ion in the water environment accurately, the paper proposes nitrite remote monitoring system based on Ethernet. MCU MSP430 is used as the field detection instrument, and ARM9 processor is used to build the Ethernet gateway. Field data can be sent to the gateway from MCU by RS485 bus. Embedded operation system Linux where the TCP/IP stack is transplanted is transplanted to the gateway hardware platform. Based on that web server is constructed on the gateway. So the remote monitoring for nitrite concentration can be achieved through the IE browser

Induced polarization method is one of common methods for electrical prospecting of geophysical. The paper is to analyses and research application of embedded technology for induced polarization instrument and design multifunctional transceiver instrument. The paper is to realize hardware part of induced polarization instrument by regarding ARM processor as hardware core by combination of current intelligent power module (IPM), induced polarization analog signal processing and 24-digit △-∑ high-precision A/D conversion chip (CS5532), etc. It can transplant embedded operation system (uClinux) on embedded ARM processor and formulate drive program which matches hardware circuit and application program to fulfils various functions including data acquisition, data processing & display, data storage & transmission required by induced polarization instrument under uClinux system management.

A fault testing device for the electronic instrument of certain type military equipment is developed in this paper. The PC104 bus, modular instrumentation and signal processing technology are integrated in the device. It consists of PC104 bus peripheral system, signal condition circuit, electric distribution cabinet, interface unit, connection cables and peripheral dedicated signal fixture. Based on Windows CE embedded operation system, the application program is implemented with Visual C++ programming language. The device could detect and locate the fault on replaceable unit of modular board and functional block, and could also assist serviceman and technical support personnel in performing quick fault testing and equipment maintenance.

Aim at the demand of analytical automation of sampling pretreatment, we designed an automatic sampling system which used ARM9 for microprocessor. The system designed in this paper is based on the processor of S3C2440 and the Windows CE operating system, and completed the work of programming in Visual Studio 2005. It uses stepping motors and precision pump as implementing agencies, and TA8435H as the stepping motor’s driver, uses LCD touch screen as human-computer interface. We accomplished software development in a customized Windows CE6.0 operating system. The paper mainly makes the detailed introduction to this system’s hardware platform design and software design based on WINCE embedded operation system.

Since both the parents need to work and look after their babies/infants simultaneously, the families bear more workload. Thus, this paper presents an innovative infant monitoring system consisting of an embedded system platform with a Linux kernel embedded operation system using the TCP/IP protocol, a CMOS image sensor, and peripheral control systems. The key feature of the system is that it can be used to monitor the living environment and the activities of the babies and/or infants through a web browser at any time from any place in the world. In order to increase the accuracy of the temperature sensor, the measured values from the digital temperature sensor were calibrated using regression analysis methods, resulting in an accuracy of ± 0.1°C, a correlation coefficient of 0.996, and a standard deviation of 0.124. The experimental results show that the proposed concept and the resulting system are feasible.
