As with other engineering design tasks, mine design involves setting design objectives and constraints (the feasible solution space) and finding the optimal design alternative. Mine engineers often struggle to incorporate the preferences of local community members into their evaluation of mine design alternatives because the mining literature lacks tools to quantify such risks during mine planning. This paper presents an approach to evaluate community acceptance (i.e., community preferences for the alternatives) using discrete choice models and decision-based design during mine planning. Using discrete choice models and a rigorous framework, engineers can estimate the cost of social risks as a function of the probability that individuals in the host community will prefer a particular design alternative. They can then estimate the overall utility of a particular design alternative to the project proponents. This paper illustrates the proposed approach with a strategic mine planning exercise for a gold mine. The framework can be a useful tool for designing mines for sustainability, if combined with effective community engagement and management’s commitment to creating shared value.

Cerebral palsy (CP) is a physical disability in childhood with impaired development of movement and posture due to disorders of the fetal or infant's brain. The measurement results of the spastic HCP children at YPAC Surakarta show that 8 attributes have difficulty grasping the precision type and 9 attributes of the power type. To solve this problem, hand tools called wrist hand orthoses are needed to restore hand function. This study aims to design alternative designs and make prototypes of wrist hand orthoses using the 3D printing process. The research stages began by collecting activity daily living (ADL) data and anthropometric data, taking a participatory approach to produce design alternatives, selecting design alternatives with the PUGH's concept selection method. The chosen design alternative will be printed through the additive manufacturing process. Testing with the 2015 human grasping database showed an increase in grasping time in 13 types of ADL activities from 17 ADLs.

Cat is an animal that has the instinctive need to express certain behaviours either by playing.Cats are too long or they are always in the cage of course will experience more reticent silent. Cats as an animal thats agile, certainly miss playing in nature But, for cat lovers release the cat to play ouside the house of course very heavy because it has a variety of risks. One of the actions is common practice to invite to play in the house. But the cat still need of nature.Playgrounds inside the house but have facillities such as outside the home to help the cat lovers to take his cat to play. So, its necessary to design the playground cat. With their methods of design and planning that has been done among the data collection, data analysis, concept design, alternative design, design development of alternative design and the final design was selected at the end of the design playground it can be the result of playing in the form of products which have the facilities and the needs of cats and has a feel like in nature and design shaped footprints of a cat. So it can be a communication on the consumer to know this playground especially to cats.

Lalu penelitian ini ditutup dengan kesimpulan dan saran AbstractTool carrier is one of a product that needed in daily life. There is many variety of tool carrier, one of the tool carrier is for carry medical instruments. One of who needs a tool carrier for medical instruments is independent midwife. At the moment, independent midwife doesn’t have tool carrier that could ease them in carrying their medical instruments. Independent midwife needs tool carrier that have mobility because their work doesn’t only in clinic, also in patient’s house.Based on that data, bag has chosen for carrying medical instruments’ independent midwife. Researcher did a research that have connection with the bag for independent midwife medical instruments. Data were collected from literature, case of study along with interview and observation on independent midwife, and competitor from bag for independent midwife. After every data collected, analysis data needed to do. To get design synthesis, analysis should be completed. If design synthesis and concept of bag for independent midwife were done, then begins to make design alternative bag of medical instruments for independent midwife. From the alternative bag of medical instruments questionnaire needed to do to get recommendation for final design. Then this research closed with conclusions and suggestions.

The term peripheralization indicates a process that can generate social, physical, and environmental degradation in urban areas. In the light of the new urban geography and the socio-economic trends taking place globally, there is a risk that the typical decay of a peripheral condition may affect city in their entirety, regardless of spatial proximity to its centre. Then, regeneration interventions should be targeted primarily at areas with a significant peripheralization risk, understood as a combination of potential degradation factors. Consequently, the decision-makers’ choice of the best design alternative should be informed by the knowledge of pre-existing vulnerability levels, and oriented towards the solution that maximizes their reduction. This is possible when the planning of interventions in the most vulnerable areas, through Urban Regeneration Programs, is able to take into account the results of the project alternatives economic evaluation. Such an approach constitutes the main novelty of the study. So, the aim of the work is to provide a decision support model for the evaluation of urban regeneration interventions effectiveness in areas of high peripheralization risk. To this end, the contribution defines a set of mitigation indicators and the assessment of the most effective design alternative through analytic hierarchy process (AHP). The proposed model was applied to an area of Marcianise Municipality, in Campania Region (Italy).
