Anxiety as a Main Cause of Church Conflicts Based on Bowen Family Systems Theory

I propose that an examination of churches with Bowen Family Systems Theory suggests that ineffective handling of anxiety within the church as a system is a main cause of conflicts within congregations. In this paper, by examining two case studies with Bowen Family Systems Theory, I demonstrate that inattention to anxiety within the church as a system is a main cause of conflicts within congregations. I will then propose pastoral strategies to address church conflicts.

Understanding power struggles in the Pentecostal church government

This article highlights the power struggles that the Pentecostal church experiences in its church governance. These power struggles become very contentious to a point where members take each other to legal courts, which ends in multiple schisms that tarnish the image of the Pentecostal movement. Most literature on church conflicts approach power struggles as caused by personality disorders. This article seeks to highlight a different approach where power struggles are more a result of structural factors than personal ones emanating from a hybrid nature of polity in the Pentecostal church and other structural factors of conflict like finances, education and leadership. Finally, an educational pastoral care methodology is proposed for this article.

Pope Benedict XII (1334-1342)

This book offers a unique overview on the career and work on Benedict XII, the third pope of Avignon. Benedict XII (ca. 1334-1342) was a key figure of the Avignon papal court, renowned for rooting out heretics and distinguishing himself as a refined theologian. During his reign, he faced the most significant religious and political challenges in the era of the Avignon papacy: theological quarrels, divisions and schisms within the Church, conflicts between European sovereigns, and the growth of Turkish power in the East. In spite of its diminished political influence, the papacy, which had recently moved to France, emerged as an institution committed to the defense and expansion of the Catholic faith in Europe and the East. Benedict made significant contributions to the definition of doctrine, the assessment of pontifical power in Western Europe, and the expansion of Catholicism in the East: in all these different contexts he distinguished himself as a true guardian of orthodoxy.

Problems of Determination and Evolution of Inter-Church Conflicts (on the Example of the Orthodox-Greek-Catholic Conflict in Ukraine at the End of the 20th - early 21st Centuries)

At the end of the twentieth century. the realization that the inexhaustibility of the conflict-related nature of religion affects not only the less affected by the modernization of the civilizational habitats of the planet, but also the main regional actors of this process, is gaining more and more strength. After the advent of S. Huntington's work, even the most consistent critiques of the theory of collision of civilizations as the main conflict axis of contemporary global development are still forced to recognize the seriousness of the religious factor and release him some part of the space in their own theoretical constructions and in their understanding of the present.
