The research seeks to develop and test a theoretical model to explain the implementation and influences of human resource information systems (HRIS's) for a Malaysian higher education institution. Data was gathered from 103 respondents in the institution using a survey questionnaire. Results show that system factor, through information quality, and institution-based trust, through situational normality and structural assurance, contribute to user satisfaction. User satisfaction and situational normality predict user-perceived HRIS benefits. Findings aid researchers and practitioners in human resource function when explaining user-perceived benefits and satisfaction with HRIS implementation. The research advances understanding of the role of HRIS in supporting human capital performance and enhancing productivity.

Purpose—The purpose of this study is to assess the impact of Information Systems (ISs) implementation in Greek industry. The main issues that are explored through this survey in regards to IS adoption are the financial and nonfinancial benefits that are derived due to IS adoption. The study also investigates the effect that IS adoption had in several business areas in regards to the factor of financial performance. Design/methodology/approach—The survey that was conducted was questionnaire based. Of the 96 valid responses that were received, 83 of them implemented at least one IS. Those 83 responses were analyzed statistically. Several statistical tools were used for that, such as: nonparametric χ2 tests for homogeneity, Cronbach Alpha method for the reliability of the questionnaire, and Mann–Whitney U tests. Findings—The results suggest that the majority of industry in Greece has implemented—at least—the ERP to conduct their business. In addition, most of them use a combination of not more than three ISs. The respondents are also satisfied by the financial impact of IS adoption. Inventory and warehouse management, along with customer service, were most positively affected by IS implementation. On the other hand, returned products reduction and the relationship with the suppliers were less positively affected by IS adoption. Research limitation/implications—The study has a limitation of being conducted in North Greece and not in the whole country. Originality/value—The paper constitutes an empirical research in regarding the financial and nonfinancial contribution of IS adoption in Greek industry. There are rather limited studies that have been conducted in Greece regarding IS implementation and the impact it poses in business affairs. The financial crisis along with the political instability that Greece has faced in the last decade makes it interesting to explore the influence of IS adoption in manufacturing enterprises. Usually, those studies are conducted in more developed countries where the financial and political environment is more stable.

Abstract Background Clinical workflows require the ability to synthesize and act on existing and emerging patient information. While offering multiple benefits, in many circumstances electronic health records (EHRs) do not adequately support these needs. Objectives We sought to design, build, and implement an EHR-connected rounding and handoff tool with real-time data that supports care plan organization and team-based care. This article first describes our process, from ideation and development through implementation; and second, the research findings of objective use, efficacy, and efficiency, along with qualitative assessments of user experience. Methods Guided by user-centered design and Agile development methodologies, our interdisciplinary team designed and built Carelign as a responsive web application, accessible from any mobile or desktop device, that gathers and integrates data from a health care institution's information systems. Implementation and iterative improvements spanned January to July 2016. We assessed acceptance via usage metrics, user observations, time–motion studies, and user surveys. Results By July 2016, Carelign was implemented on 152 of 169 total inpatient services across three hospitals staffing 1,616 hospital beds. Acceptance was near-immediate: in July 2016, 3,275 average unique weekly users generated 26,981 average weekly access sessions; these metrics remained steady over the following 4 years. In 2016 and 2018 surveys, users positively rated Carelign's workflow integration, support of clinical activities, and overall impact on work life. Conclusion User-focused design, multidisciplinary development teams, and rapid iteration enabled creation, adoption, and sustained use of a patient-centered digital workflow tool that supports diverse users' and teams' evolving care plan organization needs.

This teaching case discusses the aftermath of an implementation failure and resultant legitimacy crisis in a national blood bank service. The implementation of the new blood bank system was abandoned after significant loss of public money. This was followed by a review with the Auditor General and a subsequent debate in the public accounts committee of the national parliament. The case follows how the organisation repaired its legitimacy after the implementation failure and how it gained further legitimacy when planning a new implementation. This case helps the students in understanding diverse assessment of legitimacy, appreciating the contextual influences on legitimacy claims, and being able to analyse how legitimacy is managed by the organisation in its institutional context.

The use of technology in organizations does not always produce the expected effects, because the cause-effect relationship in efficiency, productivity and therefore competitiveness is not linear. The available resources, ways of access and their capacities in terms of storage, processing and speed of response are known, however they are not always assimilated by the agents of the productive sector as they should to promote effective results and business agility. The research procedure adopted was a critical-descriptive analysis of a real case. Based on the bibliographic review on Business Processes reconfiguration and follow-up of an implementation project in a Brazilian company, a Business Model reconfiguration with ERP system implementation case was described and evaluated. The purpose of this article is to present a success case of Information Systems implementation project, to demonstrate the long way to go before reaching the results that makes such a project a successful project and to examine the impacts in the human resource perception. The research resulted in the description of an ERP implementation case, its evaluation based on perceptions, followed by critical discussion about barriers and risks inherent to projects of this nature. Although information technology has advanced a lot in the last decades in resources and functionalities, its cost has been significantly reduced, and its acquisition has been greatly facilitated, implementation is not a trivial activity. The article can serve as a guide for characterization of risks and sensitive aspects in reconfiguration projects for organizations that wish to achieve effectiveness in this type of project.

Currently, government and commercial organizations are increasingly dependent on the use of various information systems. Investments in information systems fi their place in enterprises of various sizes, from small to large. The main goal, which forces enterprises to imple ment information systems, is the need to obtain centralized access to information and facilitate the procedure for its receipt, storage and processing in order to increase productivity and increase the efficiency of production activities. Currently, information systems are a tool for standardizing business processes and offer a variety of functionalities based on best prac­tices. At the same time, the implementation of the system is a difficult task (there is a very high percentage of unsuccessful projects), requiring great efforts, careful reflection and good planning, as well as a detailed analysis of the factors that are critical for the successful im­plementation of the system. Right now, the urgent need for finding new tools and opportunities to increase the number of successful projects. The article is devoted to critical factors affecting projects for the implementation of information systems in enterprises. The scientific works of domestic and foreign scientists and practitioners are analyzed and reviewed in order to identify factors that are called critical success factors that directly affect such projects in order to determine which critical factors were empirically recognized as “critical”. To evaluate each factor and the relationship between them, the author uses statistical analysis. The study also uses both quantitative and qualitative analysis of data obtained from scientific papers. The data collected were analyzed and 10 key success factors identified. Critical success factors are an effective and important tool for achieving the goals of projects for the implementation of information systems in enterprises, which will contribute to the correct decision-making and improve the effectiveness of projects and, as a result, the achievement of strategic goals that bring long-term benefits to the enterprise.

Agile techniques that utilize iterative development are broadly used in various industry projects as a lightweight development technique which can satisfy the continuous changes of requirements. Short repetitions are used that are required for efficient product delivery. Traditional and old software development methods are not much efficient and effective to control the rapid change in requirements. Despite the benefits of Agile, criticism on agile methodology states that it couldn’t succeed to pay attention to architectural and design issues and therefore is bound to produce small design-decisions. The past decade has observed numerous changes in systems development with many organizations accepting agile techniques as a viable methodology for developing systems. An increase in the number of research studies reveals the growing demand and acceptance of agile methodologies. While most research has focused on acceptance rate and adaptation of agile practices, there is very limited knowledge of their post-adoption usage and incorporation within organizations. Several factors explain the effective usage of agile methodologies. A combination of previous research in Agile Methodologies, Diffusion of Innovations, Information Systems implementation, and Systems Development has been carried out to develop a research model that identifies the main factors relevant to the propagation and effective usage of agile methodologies in organizations.
