Abstract Function-as-a-Service (FaaS) is an event-based reactive programming model where functions run in ephemeral stateless containers for short duration. For building complex serverless applications, function composition is crucial to coordinate and synchronize the workflow of an application. Some serverless orchestration systems exist, but they are in their primitive state and do not provide inherent support for non-trivial workflows like, Fork-Join. To address this gap, we propose a fully serverless and scalable design model ReactiveFnJ for Fork-Join workflow. The intent of this work is to illustrate a design which is completely choreographed, reactive, asynchronous, and represents a dynamic composition model for serverless applications. Our design uses two innovative patterns, namely, Relay Composition and Master-Worker Composition to solve execution time-out challenges. As a Proof-of-Concept (PoC), the prototypical implementation of Split-Sort-Merge use case, based on Fork-Join workflow is discussed and evaluated. The ReactiveFnJ handles embarrassingly parallel computations, and its design does not depend on any external orchestration services, messaging services, and queue services. ReactiveFnJ facilitates in designing fully automated pipelines for distributed data processing systems, satisfying the Serverless Trilemma in true essence. A file of any size can be processed using our effective and extensible design without facing execution time-out challenges. The proposed model is generic and can be applied to a wide range of serverless applications that are based on the Fork-Join workflow pattern. It fosters the choreographed serverless composition for complex workflows. The proposed design model is useful for software engineers and developers in industry and commercial organizations, total solution vendors and academic researchers.

This study seeks to explore the relationships between decision-making styles, academic performance, and gender of educated Chinese millennials. As the millennial generation of college graduates in China comes of age, they will move into leadership roles in public and commercial organizations. They will have influence over considerable financial assets as well as economic and public policy which translates into global impact. There is a gap in the existing literature on the topic. This study utilized online self-report questionnaires to gather data, and the general decision-making style test to assess respondents' decision-making models culminating in correlation analysis and t-test. Based on the findings of related research, the authors hypothesized that there would be a difference in the decision-making styles based on gender and that there would be a significant difference in academic performance based on the decision-making styles. The findings may be of interest to a variety of those interested in decision-making styles, Chinese millennials, and future leaders of China.

Currently, domestic researchers pay much attention to the development of provisions on projects in the activities of organizations, their impact on the efficiency of organizations and the development of new provisions related to project management and organization of project activities. However, the definitions of projects and project management often given by domestic researchers are not linked to the key concepts of the theory of organization management, which leads to the fact that the provisions given by domestic researchers often have no practical application. The article systematizes approaches to defining the essence of projects in the activities of organizations, considers the reasons why projects and project activities become relevant for organizations in a competitive environment, as well as problems and their tasks in the activities of commercial organizations.

The article is devoted to the study of the peculiarities of understanding the mission andvalues of the prosecutor’s office in Ukraine, the disclosure of the content of these conceptsat the present stage of development of the institution. Attention is focused on the analysis inthis part of the provisions of the Strategy for the Development of the Prosecutor’s Office for2021–2023.There is a tendency to spread the information tools of commercial organizations amongpublic authorities, in particular the prosecution authorities, and the replacement of previouslyused definitions of “role”, “principles”, “goals” by new borrowed definitions of “mission”,“values”, “vision” respectively.A cursory retrospective review of the formation of ideas about the content of thecategories of “mission” and “values” has been carried out. It has been found out that fromthe position of philosophy values are considered as specific social definitions of objects of thesurrounding world, which reveal their positive or negative significance for man and societyand are contained in the phenomena of social life and nature.Emphasis is placed on the need to unify the values (principles) common to all lawenforcement agencies, since most of them are the only or very close. Strategic documents ofthese bodies should reveal the provisions of the Constitution and the relevant legislation ofUkraine, to specify the latter and not contradict them.It is defined that the basic values for all public authorities, including law enforcementagencies, are: human and civil rights, the rule of law, responsibility and accountability, as wellas professionalism (or professional) and continuous improvement. It is proposed to treat the mission in a broad sense as an existential goal of the organization,an effective manifestation of its nature, sufficiently demonstrative and at the same timeunderstandable enough for the general public. The author’s definition of the mission of the prosecutor’s office, which meets therequirements of the time and takes into account its place in the mechanism of state power, the functional specificity of activity, the priority of approximation to European standards, ensuring openness and transparency, as well as strengthening of public confidence in it, wasformulated. The need for a number of changes in the Strategy for the Development of the Prosecutor’sOffice for 2021–2023 on a more clear and coherent presentation of its provisions on themission and values of the prosecution and details of some of them were noted.

The authors analyzed and explored the promotion mechanisms as well as looked at the ways of monetizing multimedia content on Instagram. We discovered that organizations are using both the classic techniques for creating communication channels with their audience and most modern ones. The analysis was carried out during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. Eight Russian and foreign Instagram accounts of commercial organizations were taken for the study. The main criterion for choosing blogs was the number of subscribers as of 04/02/20–05/04/2020. We analyzed the marketing strategy of the following accounts: “kingarthurflour”, “intel”, “dictionarycom”, “pyaterochka_official”, “magnitkrd”, “traderjoes”, “respublica_ru”, “sberbank”. This sample is purposefully compiled in such a way as to comprehensively study how old and new Internet marketing tools are used to promote blogs specializing in different goods and services. We described in detail the techniques for promoting audiovisual and textual content. The reasons for the erroneous SMM marketing strategies are explained and examples of effective ones are shown. The main methods of monetization of media production are also presented and typologized. The relevance of this work lies in the need to show the advantage of SMM tools and discover previously unknown ones — for successful marketing in one of the most massive social networks. The study found that the appropriate selection and competent use of SMM technologies have a positive effect on promotion and monetization.

There is a double standard in public responses to scandals: Nonprofits are penalized more harshly than commercial organizations for the same transgression (the “moral disillusionment effect”). However, previous research—focused on commercial organizations—has sometimes shown that a positive reputation can insure organizations against the negative effects of scandals. In light of this, we asked whether a second double standard exists when it comes to trust repair: Can nonprofits regain trust and consumer support more quickly than commercial organizations after apologizing? Two experiments ( combined N = 805), considering responses to sexual exploitation and fraud scandals, replicated and extended the moral disillusionment effect. Trust and consumer support were partially restored following an apology (and even a statement acknowledging the scandal without apologizing), but the rate of repair was the same for nonprofits and commercial organizations. Nonprofit managers should therefore implement internal controls to prevent violations and issue public responses when scandals emerge.

When choosing effective tactical and strategic decisions by business entities, it is necessary to take into account the interests of stakeholders. From the point of view of increasing competitiveness, the main importance should be given to competitors, as the most important external stakeholders. Competitors have directly opposite interests to the analyzed economic entities and have a negative impact on their activities, therefore, conflict situations arise. In this paper, we propose a method for selecting effective solutions, taking into account the interests of competitors as the most important stakeholders. The proposed methodology can be used in the analysis of systems for various purposes and includes the formation of the goals of the analyzed object, the identification and selection of competitors and the formulation of strategies of the parties to the conflict. The efficiency matrix is formed using the efficiency functions and the antagonism condition of the analyzed objects. The choice of effective solutions is made by choosing the principle of optimality. A special feature of the proposed methodology is the complex application of theories: competition theory, stakeholder theory, and antagonistic game theory. The proposed methodology can be used to evaluate the effectiveness of systems for various purposes: industrial enterprises, commercial organizations, investment projects, research organizations, etc.
