Self-study is a research methodology focused on improvement of teacher education practice and exploring personal, practical, and professional transformation by the practitioner. Utilizing many qualitative methods, this interactive and often collaborative form of inquiry is well suited to study curriculum, considered broadly, as both the written and enacted, and all impacts of this curriculum. This chapter discusses the use of self-study in teachers' inquiries into curriculum. It presents the background and theoretical underpinnings of self-study research showing how this research genre emerged out of teacher practice and is rooted in the notion of teacher as curriculum maker. Guidance for forming research design is outlined, as well as various questions and topics for which self-study of curricula is well suited. Specific examples are expanded to include rationales for methodological choices and demonstrate how this research has been carried out in real-life practical situations.

The article considers the main directions of the impact of digitalization on the global professional transformation of the workforce. The main attention is paid to structural problems of employment, labor market reform and its segmentation, consequences of introduction of automatic telephone systems, computer automation of production, processes of interaction of virtual workers, expansion of electronic workplaces, gender tendencies in digitalization of labor force and electronic work tools. Actions to eliminate illegal migration and reduce the share of the informal economy are considered and proposed. In the process of global professional transformation of the labor force, the system of values changes, material things are replaced by intangible ones. Informatization and intellectualization of the economy and social life is becoming a major driver that requires highly educated, highly skilled workers, as well as favorable ways to create favorable conditions for the optimal functioning of the single labor market. After all, the transformation of the labor market in the world depends on the influence of a wide range of factors and is characterized by a number of features. The change in demand for labor is determined by structural changes in national economies, the development of which is largely due to the deepening of globalization processes. Transformational processes in the international labor market and changes in the structure of employment remain little studied, and therefore are quite relevant today. Particular scientific attention needs to be paid to issues that are directly related to the assessment of qualitative changes in the functioning of the labor force and reflect the current international trends in its genesis in the context of digitalization. Theoretical and factual basis of this research is also the peculiarities of regulation and operation of the labor market in the most developed integration group such as the European Union (EU). First of all, the significant increase in the number of normative and legal documents regulating the legal basis for the use of the labor market in the EU countries and aimed at its reform is noteworthy.

Principles of Medical Professionalism will inform both future physicians and current practitioners that being a medical professional is not about being perfect, but rather about being human and recognizing our own limitations. The reader can therefore learn to manage their expectations about the profession while becoming more resilient to disruptions in the medical field such as artificial intelligence and the changing patient–doctor relationship. This book takes into consideration challenges to the uniform integration of a formal medical professionalism curriculum and addresses the critical need for support of practitioners’ professional development and identity formation throughout the various stages and transitions in their medical career. Overall, each chapter of this book aims to challenge the reader to engage in a process of self-reflection using the framework of the Gibb’s reflective cycle and provides health professionals of all levels with practical tools and techniques that will allow them to become more competent caregivers and leaders in their field. Indeed, the ultimate goal of the book is to encourage a medical educational framework supporting personal and professional transformation that may lead to more resilient and happier physicians. Thus, physicians may be better equipped to attend to the tasks of patient care that incorporate attention to healing, caring, and, compassion, while upholding their duty to serve the patient and society.

Objective: to investigate the characteristics of the distribution of pressure under the foot during walking in swimmers of various ages and experience.Materials and methods. The study involved swimmers aged 11.4 ± 1.9 years, of both sexes, with at least 4 years of training experience (n = 23) and masters of sports in swimming, 19.3 ± 1.5 years old with 12.2 ± 1.3 years of experience (n = 23). The study used a podometric footscan® platform from RSscan company. Kinematic and dynamic parameters of pressure under the foot during natural walking were recorded. The focus was on the indicators of contact with the support in the zones of the metatarsal part of the foot. The peak pressure value in each metatarsal zone and the time to reach it were taken into account.Results. In the course of the study, the order in which the maximum pressure under the metatarsal zones manifests was understood, which appeared in a sequence: fifth, fourth, first, third and second metatarsal zones. It was found that in young athletes the transverse arch of the foot during walking undergoes a relatively greater load than in older athletes. Moreover, relatively high values were noted in the zones of the second and third metatarsals in both age groups. Conclusions: the swimmer’s foot experiences a significant professional transformation associated with specific sports activities, which dictates the need to introduce certain preventive and corrective measures into sports training.

Globally, COVID-19 has stressed social and personal tensions in professional life. This chapter focuses on the networked dimension to highlight the workers need for social connections. Some suggestions are proposed to implement an epistemic community to sustain creative and collaborative professional development in disruptive time. Two points are discussed to scaffold epistemic communities in the organisation: 1) the inter-professional dimension to embrace complex topic and 2) the emotional dimension as resources to embrace professional transformation.
