Practical systems such as hybrid power systems are currently implemented around the world. In order to get the system to work properly, the systems usually require their behavior to be maintained or state values to stay within a certain threshold. However, it is difficult to form a perfect mathematical model for describing behavior of the practical systems since there may be some information (uncertainties) that is not observed. Thus, in this article, we studied the stability of an uncertain linear system with a non-differentiable time-varying delay. We constructed Lyapunov-Krasovskii functionals (LKFs) containing several symmetric positive definite matrices to obtain robust finite-time stability (RFTS) and stabilization (RFTU) of the uncertain linear system. With the controller and uncertainties in the considered system, there exist nonlinear terms occurring in the formulation process. Past research handled these nonlinear terms as new variables but this led to some difficulty from a computation point of view. Instead, we applied a novel approach via Cauchy-like matrix inequalities to handle these difficulties. In the end, we present three numerical simulations to show the effectiveness of our proposed theory.

This paper devotes to the robust stability problem for an uncertain linear time invariant (LTI) feedback system with actuator saturation nonlinearity. Based on a three degree of freedom (DOF) non-interfering control structure, the robust stability is enforced with the describing function (DF) approach for an uncertain LTI system to avoid the limit cycle. A new type of anti-windup (AW) compensator is designed using the quantitative feedback theory (QFT) graphical method, which results in a simple design procedure and low-order AW control system. One of the most significant benefits of the proposed method is free of the non-convexity (intractable) drawback of the linear matrix inequality (LMI)-based approach. The analysis conducted on the benchmark problem clearly reveals that the proposed QFT-based anti-windup design is able to handle both saturation and uncertainty in a very effective manner.

This paper is concerned with designing a networked controller for a mixed flow two-spool turbofan aeroengine with aging and deterioration. Firstly, the state-space representation of the aeroengine considering aging and deterioration is identified, by which the engine system with aging and deterioration is modeled as an uncertain linear system. Then based on this uncertain linear system, theoretical results from the networked control systems and the regional pole assignment are introduced to formulate the networked engine control design in the form of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs). By solving these LMIs simultaneously, a networked engine controller is obtained which guarantees both the robustness against delay/dropout and the satisfactory dynamic performance. Finally, the proposed method is applied to an aerothermodynamic component-level engine simulator to demonstrate its validity and applicability. The corresponding delay/dropout margin is also calculated, which provides reference for the future development of the distributed engine control system.
