This chapter presents an empirical research where the authors developed tasks based on a digital game supported by assessment strategies. The study is interpretative in nature, in a case study design. The authors designed tasks with technology and assessment strategies in a collaborative work context implemented in a mathematics classroom with 5th grade students (students 10 years old). The results evidence that the use of a digital game and formative assessment have contributed to the learning of complementary and supplementary angle pairs, giving meaning to their utilization as an effective strategy.

Chlorogenic acid has been proved to have cardiovascular protection, antibacterial, antiviral, hemostatic, and hypolipidemia effects. Modern scientific research on the bioactivity of chlorogenic acid has been extended to the fields of food, medicine, health care and daily-use chemical industry. The aim of this research was to optimize the extraction conditions for chlorogenic acid from Eucommia ulmoides (Eucommiaceae) leaves. The significant variables were screened and optimized by a combination of Plackett-Burman test and Box-Behnken design. Optimum extraction parameters with ethanol concentration of 50%, solvent pH value of 3, and particle size of 60 mesh were determined according to variance analysis and contour plots. Under these conditions, the yield of chlorogenic acid was up to 4.36 mg/g, which was basically consistent with the theoretical prediction value of 4.50 mg/g. This study also proved the potential antioxidant activity of E. ulmoides leaves. The optimal extract of E. ulmoides leaves rich in chlorogenic acid showed the highest antioxidant activity in the FRAP method, which was 219.8 μM Trolox equivalents (TE) per g extract weight (EW) (μM TE/g EW). The DPPH method gave a similar value (168 μM TE/g EW) to the ABTS method (152 μM TE/g EW). The established extraction process was efficient in the recovery of chlorogenic acid from E. ulmoides leaves, encouraging its valorization as a cheap and sustainable alternative for the isolation of chlorogenic acid.

As one of the pillar industries for social development and economic construction, cement manufacture is energy and carbon-intensive, whose greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions account for more than 6% of total global man-made GHG emission annually. With the growing attention on the problem of global warming, researching and promoting low-carbon manufacturing technologies to reduce GHG emissions have become the main trend in the development of cement industry under the new era. This article sorted out the low-carbon technologies for cement production reported in recent years, introduced the mainstream methods of GHG accounting and assessment such as life cycle assessment (LCA) and carbon footprint analysis (CFA), meanwhile reviewed the articles in the field of low-carbon technology and assessment methods in cement production, moreover, discussed the merits and demerits of various assessment methods and applicable fields, in order to provide suggestions and supports for low-carbon transformation of cement industry.

The results of research on the ecological and economic justification of the choice of technologies for the reclamation of oil-contaminated land are proposed. Economic and environmental criteria for the selection of technologies for the treatment of land contaminated with petroleum products are proposed. The algorithm of implementation of the project of recultivation of the lands polluted by oil is considered, which includes an assessment of environmental damage, compensation of losses to landowners, determination of the cost of work on recultivation of the polluted lands, justification of technology and assessment of efficiency of its application. Based on a comparative assessment of the use of various technologies for cleaning up oil-contaminated land according to the proposed criteria, the economic feasibility of using biotechnologies are shown on the example of the elimination of an emergency oil spill in the Niger Delta.

Abstract Assessment and technology are two components that are very important in education. Assessment is the core of education which provides teachers lots information from their students and technology helps to achieve the learning goal more easily. Teachers are able to take the advantages of the integration of technology and assessment to get really detail information of students test to create a good teaching process. However, there are not many teachers who really consider about assessment and the washback effect on students’ learning. Thus, this study aimed to know the washback effect of Quizizz assessment platform on students’ learning. To investigate the issue, the researcher used questionnaire, observation and in-depth interview. The data which obtained would be analyzed qualitatively. The result of the study shows that students were motivated and they wanted to learn more after doing several gamified test with Quizizz. They were interested in elements of game such as Leaderboard, Meme, Time restriction, and Test report. Keywords: Assessment, Technology, Gamified test, Elements of game, Washback effect.
