Recently, unmixing methods based on nonnegative tensor factorization have played an important role in the decomposition of hyperspectral mixed pixels. According to the spatial prior knowledge, there are many regularizations designed to improve the performance of unmixing algorithms, such as the total variation (TV) regularization. However, these methods mostly ignore the similar characteristics among different spectral bands. To solve this problem, this paper proposes a group sparse regularization that uses the weighted constraint of the L2,1 norm, which can not only explore the similar characteristics of the hyperspectral image in the spectral dimension, but also keep the data smooth characteristics in the spatial dimension. In summary, a non-negative tensor factorization framework based on weighted group sparsity constraint is proposed for hyperspectral images. In addition, an effective alternating direction method of multipliers (ADMM) algorithm is used to solve the algorithm proposed in this paper. Compared with the existing popular methods, experiments conducted on three real datasets fully demonstrate the effectiveness and advancement of the proposed method.

Fine art photography, paper documents, and other parts of printing that aim to keep value are searching for credible techniques and mediums suitable for long-term archiving purposes. In general, long-lasting pigment-based inks are used for archival print creation. However, they are very often replaced or forged by dye-based inks, with lower fade resistance and, therefore, lower archiving potential. Frequently, the difference between the dye- and pigment-based prints is hard to uncover. Finding a simple tool for countrified identification is, therefore, necessary. This paper assesses the spectral characteristics of dye- and pigment-based ink prints using visible near-infrared (VNIR) hyperspectral imaging. The main aim is to show the spectral differences between these ink prints using a hyperspectral camera and subsequent hyperspectral image processing. Two diverse printers were exploited for comparison, a hobby dye-based EPSON L1800 and a professional pigment-based EPSON SC-P9500. The identical prints created via these printers on three different types of photo paper were recaptured by the hyperspectral camera. The acquired pixel values were studied in terms of spectral characteristics and principal component analysis (PCA). In addition, the obtained spectral differences were quantified by the selected spectral metrics. The possible usage for print forgery detection via VNIR hyperspectral imaging is discussed in the results.

Hyperspectral imaging is used in a wide range of applications. When used in remote sensing, satellites and aircraft are employed to collect the images, which are used in agriculture, environmental monitoring, urban planning and defence. The exact classification of ground features in the images is a significant research issue and is currently receiving greater attention. Moreover, these images have a large spectral dimensionality, which adds computational complexity and affects classification precision. To handle these issues, dimensionality reduction is an essential step that improves the performance of classifiers. In the classification process, several strategies have produced good classification results. Of these, machine learning techniques are the most powerful approaches. As a result, this paper reviews three different types of hyperspectral image machine learning classification methods: cluster analysis, supervised and semi-supervised classification. Moreover, this paper shows the effectiveness of all these techniques for hyperspectral image classification and dimensionality reduction. Furthermore, this review will assist as a reference for future research to improve the classification and dimensionality reduction approaches.

We propose a superpixel weighted low-rank and sparse unmixing (SWLRSU) method for sparse unmixing. The proposed method consists of two steps. In the first step, we segment hyperspectral image into superpixels which are defined as the homogeneous regions with different shape and sizes according to the spatial structure. Then, an efficient method is proposed to obtain a spatial weight term using superpixels to capture the spatial structure of hyperspectral data. In the second step, we solve a superpixel guided low-rank and spatially weighted sparse approximation problem in which spatial weight term obtained in the first step is used as a weight term in sparsity promoting norm. This formulation exploits the spatial correlation of the pixels in the hyperspectral image efficiently, which yields satisfactory unmixing results. The experiments are conducted on simulated and real data sets to show the effectiveness of the proposed method.
