This article presents results of approbation of developed model of piece-wise regular fiber optic link, operating in a few-mode regime, with series-connected couple of special multimode optical crypto-fibers “encryptor-decoder”. Unlike the previously developed solution, the model was modified with an ability to take into account influence of fiber optic connector end-face contamination on laser-excited optical signal launching conditions. We present comparison results of computed optical pulse response envelops, distorted during propagation over 10GBase-LX network fiber optic links, containing optical crypto-fibers, depending on various conditions of transceiver laser source connector ferrule end-face contamination.

Traditional coseismic displacement retrieval generally uses real-time kinematic (RTK) and precise point positioning (PPP) services. However, both RTK and real-time PPP need a network link to transmit the corrected data. Although the network link may be interrupted when an earthquake happens, the PPP-B2b service broadcasted by geostationary orbit (GEO) satellites will not be affected. Its service range mainly covers China and the surrounding areas. In this research, the PPP method with PPP-B2b service based on constrained coordinates is proposed and overcomes the limitation of the network link and long convergence time. First, the accuracy of orbits and clock offsets for the PPP-B2b service is evaluated and compared with real-time service (RTS). Then, the simulated experiments are carried out using the PPP method with PPP-B2b service based on constrained coordinates, which tests the accuracy by calculating the coordinate displacement of the measurement station. The results show that the accuracy of PPP-B2b orbits in the radial direction is within 0.1 m. Moreover, regarding the accuracy of clock offsets, the PPP-B2b service is no more than 3.5 cm. This validates the feasibility of replacing RTS products with PPP-B2b. In the 15 min simulated experiments, the root mean square (RMS) of horizontal and vertical directions is maintained within 3 cm.

Hosts and parasites have often intimate associations. Therefore, the evolution of their interactions is crucial for understanding species-rich host-parasite communities. Yet relatively few studies investigate eco-evolutionary feedbacks in these systems as large datasets remain scarce. Here, we explore African cichlid fishes and their flatworm gill parasites (Cichlidogyrus spp.) including 9901 reported infections and 473 different host-parasite combinations collected through a survey of peer-reviewed literature. We apply network metrics, estimate host repertoires, and use network link prediction (NLP) algorithms to investigate meta-community structures and their predictors including evolutionary, ecological, and morphological parameters. Host repertoire was mostly determined by the hosts’ evolutionary history. Both ecological and evolutionary parameters predicted host parasite associations but many interactions remain undetected according to NLP. We conclude that ecological opportunity paired with ecological fitting has shaped interactions. The cichlid-Cichlidogyrus network is a suitable study system for eco-evolutionary feedbacks but taxonomic research remains key to finding undetected interactions.

While IEEE 802.15.4e Time-Slotted Channel Hopping (TSCH) networks should be equipped to deal with the hard wireless challenges of industrial environments, the sensor networks are often still limited by the characteristics of the used physical (PHY) layer. Therefore, the TSCH community has recently started shifting research efforts to the support of multiple PHY layers, to overcome this limitation. On the one hand, integrating such multi-PHY support implies dealing with the PHY characteristics to fit the resource allocation in the TSCH schedule, and on the other hand, defining policies on how to select the appropriate PHY for each network link. As such, first a heuristic is proposed that is a step towards a distributed PHY and parent selection mechanism for slot bonding multi-PHY TSCH sensor networks. Additionally, a proposal on how this heuristic can be implemented in the IPv6 over the TSCH mode of IEEE 802.15.4e (6TiSCH) protocol stack and its Routing Protocol for Low-power and Lossy network (RPL) layer is also presented. Slot bonding allows the creation of different-sized bonded slots with a duration adapted to the data rate of each chosen PHY. Afterwards, a TSCH slot bonding implementation is proposed in the latest version of the Contiki-NG Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) operating system. Subsequently, via extensive simulation results, and by deploying the slot bonding implementation on a real sensor node testbed, it is shown that the computationally efficient parent and PHY selection mechanism approximates the packet delivery ratio (PDR) results of a near-optimal, but computationally complex, centralized scheduler.
