A combined study of one of the simplest aromatic hydrocarbons, i.e., methylbenzene (toluene) (TOL), via the annihilation of an ortho-positronium (o-Ps) probe via positron annihilation lifetime spectroscopy (PALS) and the rotation dynamics of nitroxide spin probe 2,2,6,6-tetramethyl-piperidinyl-1-oxy (TEMPO) using electron spin resonance (ESR) over a wide temperature range, 10–300 K, is reported. The o-Ps lifetime, τ3, and the relative o-Ps intensity, I3, as a function of temperature exhibit changes defining several characteristic PALS temperatures in the slowly and rapidly cooled samples. Similarly, the spectral parameter of TEMPO mobility in TOL, 2Azz‘, and its correlation time, τc, reveal several effects at a set of the characteristic ESR temperatures, which were determined and compared with the PALS results. Finally, the physical origins of the changes in free volume expansion and spin probe mobility are revealed. They are reflected in a series of the mutual coincidences between the characteristic PALS and ESR temperatures and appropriate complementary thermodynamic and dynamic techniques.

This paper focuses on a resonant system used to induce a low-amplitude movement and ultrasonic frequency to complement a ball burnishing process on a lathe. The system was characterized through the combination of different techniques. A full vibratory characterization of this process was undertaken with the purpose of demonstrating that the mechanical system—composed of the tool and the machine—does not present resonance phenomena during the execution of the operation that could lead to eventual failure. This dynamic analysis validates the adequateness of the tool when attached to an NC lathe, which is important to guarantee its future implementation in actual manufacturing contexts. A further aim was to confirm that the system succeeds in transmitting an oscillating signal throughout the material lattice. To this end, different static and dynamic techniques that measure different vibration ranges—including impact tests, acoustic emission measurement, and vibration measurement—were combined. An operational deflection shape model was also constructed. Results demonstrate that the only high frequency appearing in the process originated in the tool. The process was not affected by the presence of vibration assistance, nor by the burnishing preload or feed levels. Furthermore, the frequency of the assisting ultrasonic vibration was characterized and no signal due to possible damage in the material of the specimens was detected. These results demonstrate the suitability of the new tool in the vibration-assisted ball burnishing process.

Kidney transplantation is the golden treatment for end-stage renal disease. Static cold storage is currently considered the standard method of preservation, but dynamic techniques, such as machine perfusion (MP), have been shown to improve graft function, especially in kidneys donated by extended criteria donors and donation after circulatory death. With poor organ quality being a major reason for kidneys not being transplanted, an accurate, objective and reliable quality assessment during preservation could add value and support to clinicians’ decisions. MPs are emerging technologies with the potential to assess kidney graft viability and quality, both in the hypothermic and normothermic scenarios. The aim of this review is to summarize current tools for graft viability assessment using MP prior to implantation in relation to the ischemic damage.

The mixing process in a mechanically agitated vessel is a widespread phenomenon which plays an important role among industrial processes. In that process, one of the crucial parameters, the mixing efficiency, depends on a large number of geometrical factors, as well as process parameters and complex interactions between the phases which are still not well understood. In the last decade, large progress has been made in optimisation, construction and numerical and experimental analysis of mechanically agitated vessels. In this review, the current state in this field has been presented. It shows that advanced computational fluid dynamic techniques for multiphase flow analysis with reactions and modern experimental techniques can be used with success to analyse in detail mixing features in liquid-liquid, gas-liquid, solid-liquid and in more than two-phase flows. The objective is to show the most important research recently carried out.

Incorporation of previous information regarding organ form and placement is vital to enhance execution of image examination draws near. most importantly, priors is useful in cases any place images zone unit adulterated and contain curios due to constraints in picture obtaining. The incredibly constrained nature of anatomical articles is all around caught with adapting principally based methods. Notwithstanding, in most exceptional and promising procedures like CNN fundamentally based division it's not evident the best method to join such past data. dynamic techniques work as pixel-wise classifiers any place the training targets don't fuse the structure and between conditions of the yield. AN method for the detection of Brain Stroke is projected during this work. Diagnostic strategies victimization Image Segmentation and sweetening strategies area unit projected. Our method is combined with any of the progressive segmentation or super-resolution (SR) NN models and doubtless improve its prediction accuracy and strength while not introducing any memory or process complexness at reasoning time. propose a generic coaching strategy Anatomically forced Neural Networks (ACNN), through a brand new regularization model.
