The image-based 3D reconstruction technique has been applied in many scenarios of civil engineering, such as earthquake prevention and disaster reduction, construction monitoring, and intelligent city construction. However, the traditional technique is time-consuming, and the modeling efficiency has become a bottleneck limiting its application in emergency scenarios. In this paper, a rapid reconstruction method is proposed which combines the traditional image-based 3D reconstruction technique and an interactive graph cuts algorithm. Firstly, a sequence of images is collected around the target structure. Then, the images are preprocessed using the interactive iterative graph cuts algorithm to extract the target from each image. Finally, the resulting sequence of images is used to perform the 3D reconstruction. During the preprocessing, only a few images require manual intervention while the rest can be processed automatically. To verify the modeling accuracy of the proposed method, a column that has been destroyed is selected as a target for 3D reconstruction. The results show that compared with the traditional method, the modeling efficiency of the fast reconstruction method is doubled. In addition, the modeling accuracy is 97.65%, which is comparable to the modeling accuracy of the traditional method (97.73%); as well, by comparing the point clouds, the alignment between the two models is tremendously close, with tiny difference. The proposed rapid reconstruction method can be applied in emergency scenarios, such as rapid assessment in post-disaster situations.

Three-dimensional elliptical vibration assisted cutting technology has been widely used in the past few years. The piezoelectric stack drive structure is an important part of the three-dimensional elliptical vibration aided cutting system. Its piezoelectric hysteresis characteristics affects the final output of the elliptical trajectory. Aiming at this problem, a piezoelectric hysteresis modeling method based on a generalized Bouc–Wen model is presented in this paper. An improved flower pollination algorithm (IFPASO) was used to identify Bouc–Wen model parameters. Standard test result shows that IFPASO has better algorithm performance. The model identification effect experiment proved that the Bouc–Wen model obtained by IFPASO identification, the highest modeling accuracy of the three axial subsystems, can reach 98.86%. Therefore, the model can describe the piezoelectric hysteresis characteristics of the three axial subsystems of the 3D-EVC system effectively and has higher modeling accuracy and fitting accuracy.

Abstract Rainfall interception (I) can considerably influence the transport process of water. The revised sparse Gash model (RSGM) is a tool for determining the I, which assumes that the two climate parameters in the model are equal for all storms. However, few studies have provided additional cases to reexamine the correctness of this assumption and investigated the response of I of single storms to the time-step variability in climatic parameters. Hence, running the RSGM separately on an event basis during the growing season in 2017 and using three time-step climatic parameters (storm-based, monthly, and fixed) to estimate I for the forest stands of Pinus tabuliformis, Platycladus orientalis, and Acer truncatum in Northern China. In summary, the modeling accuracy of both cumulative I and individual I was enhanced by increasing the time step of the climatic parameters in this study. These positively support the assumption in the RSGM. These results suggest that it is more appropriate to run the RSGM using fixed climate parameters to estimate I for these tree species during the growing season in northern China. Additionally, the assumption in the RSGM should be appealed to be further confirmed across the widest possible range of species, regions, and time scales.

Abstract This study aims to determine the factors that significantly affect the classification of stroke. The response variable used is the type of stroke, namely non-hemorrhagic stroke and hemorrhagic stroke. The predictors used were cholesterol level, blood sugar level, temperature, length of stay, pulse rate, and gender. By using logistic regression, the results obtained modeling accuracy of 74.8% where the predictors that have a significant effect (alpha <0.05) are total cholesterol and length of stay.
