Montmorillonite clays (natural and commercial (KSF and K-10)) were modified by impregnation with TiO2 from TiCl4 solution. The natural and KSF clays were also pillared with Al polyhydroxication and after that, these were impregnated with TiO2. Photocatalysts were characterized by X-Ray Diffraction (XRD), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy X-ray (EDX) and Infrared Spectroscopy (IR) in order to understand their catalytic potential properties. Photocatalysts were used in a decomposition reaction of methylene blue (MB) and all catalysts demonstrated photocatalytic activity for degradation of dye (20 to 45%); however, K-10 sample showed the best results (more than 98% of elimination) due to its high superficial area and TiO2 dispersion. The results obtained using photocatalysts were compared with electrochemical oxidation process using Ti/Pt anode, showing that the photocatalysis reaction is more efficient. At present, our results demonstrate the potential of these catalysts for environment applications.

The Ag3PO4 crystal with 200-600 nm in diameter was successfully synthesized using co-precipitation method with AgNO3 and Na2HPO4.12H2O as starting materials. The product was characterized using XRD, DRS, FTIR and SEM. The photocatalytic activities were evaluated under blue light irradiation assisted by Fe2+. The 1 mL of Fe2+ aqueous solutions consisted of 1.00, 0.10, 0.01, 0.001 and 0.0001 mM Fe2+ was added into a 100 mL solution of Rhodamine B, and the photocatalytic oxidation of Rhodamine B was carried out under visible light irradiation. The highest photocatalytic activity was observed when 1 ml of 0.001 mM of Fe2+ aqueous solution was added in the Rhodamine B solution. The result inferred the possibility of in-situ peroxide generation during the photocatalysis reaction.

This paper reported the study of the photocatalytic activity of immobilized Fe3+ doped TiO2 on glass fibre yarn. A dip-coating technique fixing catalyst onto the support surface was applied to get the TiO2/Fe3+ coated filler. A photo reactor consists of a cylindrical quartz tube and filler with the immobilized catalyst was applied in the study. The photocatalytic activity was determined by the degradation of phenol in water (10 mg L-1). Results suggested that the fibre glass coated TiO2/Fe3+ photocatalysis filler has very excellent performances in repeat using and the supported TiO2 was very stable in photocatalysis reaction.
