In contemporary Poland, the concept of a digital archive has developed as a digital repository that publishes archives on the Internet, which is a kind of virtual copy of the archive; its features, such as the ability to freely shape it and availability are typical features of virtual creations. The largest digital archives in terms of resources published on the Internet include the project of the National Digital Archives, the Polish Genealogical Society and the Central Archives of Historical Records. About 11 million digital photos have been presented on the website of the Polish Genealogical Society, mainly records and marital status records, largely organized in terms of content according to their historical nature, with a search engine according to the geographical criterion and with extensive indexes. The „Geneteka” index search engine covers approximately 31 million records from the 16th to the 21st century. This repository is an example of how a digital archive can creatively develop the basic goals of traditional archives: collecting, storing, processing and sharing archives.

The most significant specialized and open resource for biodiversity literature is the Biodiversity Heritage Library (BHL). BHL contains more than 200,000 volumes that cover hundreds of years of biological publications. The Catalogue of Life (CoL) is the largest aggregator of global taxonomic information. The Global Names project collaborates with BHL and CoL to create a BHL scientific names index that is continuously improved. The index allows researchers to conveniently find relevant information about any name. Building a scientific names index is challenging because scientific names are quite dynamic and can dramatically change in taxonomic meaning over time. According to our estimates, on average, there are three scientific names per species. Also, a significant number of scientific names have fallen into disuse. For example, approximately 25% of names used in Zoology between 1750–1850 and collected by Charles Sherborn into Index Animalium disappeared from current nomenclatural and taxonomic databases. It is important, therefore, to add "taxonomic intelligence" to BHL names index search and present not only data about a specific name-string but also about all known synonyms so that all relevant information in BHL can be consolidated and conveniently accessed from taxonomic information aggregators like CoL. We developed an open source program "bhlnames", which creates a two-way bridge between the Catalogue of Life and Biodiversity Heritage Library. It provides the location of information in BHL about a taxon, using all names associated with the taxon according to Catalogue of Life synonymy data. Using that information, it attempts to provide CoL with a BHL link to the first descriptions of scientific names in the literature.

ABSTRACTThe Introduction to American Government course, and its textbook, is a nearly universal experience for students in American colleges and universities, but what exactly is being taught in this course? Do the textbooks used in this widely taught course accurately reflect the diversity of populations and experiences in the United States? More specifically, how do textbooks for Introduction to American Government cover historically marginalized groups, if at all? This article builds on previous work by analyzing the representation of individual historically marginalized groups to conduct index search and content analyses on traditionally published and openly licensed (i.e., open educational resources [OER]) textbooks. This study finds that American government textbooks include little coverage of any historically marginalized groups, and that OER textbooks are average in this respect, doing neither better nor worse than their traditionally published counterparts.

Abstract The library at the Padang City Library and Archives Service is one of the libraries that provides services for users. Index is a tool to retrieve information quickly and accurately, with the index user can easily find information when needed without the need to read the entire contents of newspaper articles. In accordance with the needs of users related to information, we need more complex information tracking tools such as annotated indexes of newspaper articles. One means of tracing information by subject is the subject of Minangkabau culture. Users who need information about Minangkabau culture will find it easier to find that information through an index search tool. Keywords: Annotated Index of Newspapers Published in West
