Countless informational proposals and models have explored the singular characteristics of biological systems: from the initial choice of information terms in the early days of molecular biology to the current bioinformatic avalanche in this “omic” era. However, this was conducted, most often, within partial, specialized scopes or just metaphorically. In this paper, we attempt a consistent informational discourse, initially based on the molecular recognition paradigm, which addresses the main stages of biological organization in a new way. It considers the interconnection between signaling systems and information flows, between informational architectures and biomolecular codes, between controlled cell cycles and multicellular complexity. It also addresses, in a new way, a central issue: how new evolutionary paths are opened by the cumulated action of multiple variation engines or mutational ‘vehicles’ evolved for the genomic exploration of DNA sequence space. Rather than discussing the possible replacement, extension, or maintenance of traditional neo-Darwinian tenets, a genuine informational approach to evolutionary phenomena is advocated, in which systemic variation in the informational architectures may induce differential survival (self-construction, self-maintenance, and reproduction) of biological agents within their open ended environment.

Designed to amplify and archive narratives frequently erased in official accounts of faculty life, this article centers a Latina feminist testimonio approach in its personal examination of mentally disabled faculty members and crip time, or the unique temporalities experienced by disabled individuals and the temporal strategies that they purposefully deploy. The analysis specifically focuses on mentally disabled faculty who are multiply marginalized, or those who often go “thrice unseen” within neoliberal US academia. It is framed throughout by a series of personal observations regarding the singular characteristics of crip time as it is lived by the author, herself a mentally disabled faculty member. Building on the scholarship of disability, queer, and ethnic studies scholars, it explores fraught concepts such as the pressure to pass for neurotypical, societal expectations regarding marriage and reproduction, academic collegiality, and the politics of workplace disclosure. The article closes with a consideration of crip time as pandemic time, as it ponders the distinct parallels between temporal existence during a pandemic and a life always lived through crip time, as well as the potential for reimaging time in a post-COVID world.

AbstractThe singular set of a viscosity solution to a Hamilton–Jacobi equation is known to propagate, from any noncritical singular point, along singular characteristics which are curves satisfying certain differential inclusions. In the literature, different notions of singular characteristics were introduced. However, a general uniqueness criterion for singular characteristics, not restricted to mechanical systems or problems in one space dimension, is missing at the moment. In this paper, we prove that, for a Tonelli Hamiltonian on $$\mathbb {R}^2$$ R 2 , two different notions of singular characteristics coincide up to a bi-Lipschitz reparameterization. As a significant consequence, we obtain a uniqueness result for the class of singular characteristics that was introduced by Khanin and Sobolevski in the paper [On dynamics of Lagrangian trajectories for Hamilton-Jacobi equations. Arch. Ration. Mech. Anal., 219(2):861–885, 2016].

Previously, we have developed a novel spatial discretization error estimator, the “residual source” estimator, in which an error transport problem, analogous to the discretized transport equation, is solved to acquire an estimate of the error, with a residual term acting as a fixed source. Like all error estimators, the residual source estimator suffers inaccuracy and imprecision in the proximity of singular characteristics, lines across which the solution is irregular. Estimator performance worsens as the irregularities become more pronounced, especially so if the true solution itself is discontinuous. This work introduces a modification to the residual approximation procedure that seeks to reduce the adverse effects of the singular characteristics on the error estimate. A partial singular characteristic tracking scheme is implemented to reduce the portion of the error in the numerical solution born by irregularities in the true solution. This treated numerical solution informs the residual approximations. The partial singular characteristic tracking scheme greatly enhances the numerical solution for a problem with prominent singular characteristics. The residual approximation and resultant residual source error estimate are likewise improved by the scheme, which only incurs the computational cost of an extra inner iteration.

Banking division is a rapidly creating region of India. With speedy improvement in the amount of branches and the newfunctions dispensed to them, banks are beginning to feel another load on their definitive capacities with regards to model the strategies of enrollment, course of action, getting ready, headway and assessment, to ensure that the right number of staff with as far as possible are available at the ideal time and for the right spots. Assessment is one of the key factors of definitive limit which is furthermore the point of convergence of this assessment. In fundamental words we can say that show assessment is an examination of delegate's continuous triumphs and dissatisfactions, singular characteristics and inadequacies, and suitability for headway or further planning.

The XIX century represented in the national historical context a period of great relevance for the understanding of the bases of the project of Nation that was constructed in imperial Brazil. When thinking about the educational question and the institutionalization of state education, it seems appropriate to reflect the relationship with the process of citizenship construction, which is formulated with singular characteristics and particularly linked to our historical and political context. It is necessary to analyze how the education consolidated itself in its turn, assuming as our citizenship, its singularities. We kept up during the nineteenth century in tune with historical time that accentuated the consolidation of modern states, a time that characterized the political scenarios of various countries, including Brazil empire.
