In this present work, the air-conditioning test performance of an ejector refrigerator-based air-conditioner (ERAC) was proposed. The ERAC was operated as the water chiller to produce the cooling load up to 4.5 kW. The chilled water temperature was later supplied to the fan-coil unit for producing the thermal comfort condition. The cooling water used to cool the condenser was achieved from the cooling tower which was operated under the hot and humid ambient. This is to demonstrate the feasibility of using the ERAC in real working conditions. The cooling load supplied to the air-conditioned space was applied by the air heater. The ERAC could efficiently be operated to produce the thermal comfort condition which was driven by the hot water temperature (Thot) of 90–98 °C. The system performance could vary with the heat source temperatures, cooling load, primary nozzle, and air-conditioned space temperature. The optimal performance was determined when varying the Thot, and, hence, the optimal Thot was indicated. The optimal Thot varied significantly with variations in the working condition. The test results demonstrated high potential to further using the ejector refrigeration system in the actual air conditioning application.

Every single country of this world wants to enlarge and optimize their territory. It causes every single country get competition to strengthen their country. In the other side they want some comfort condition, the condition is free from anxiety and the ability to predict threats, is a situation esired by all citizens. Not yet optimal in countermeasures and predicting the direction of the threat. The need for innovation in the method of determination according to the current state. Research based on the Decision Support System (DSS) trying will provide a solution in determining the predictor of the threat state. Using the Profile Matching method researchers try to map the profiles of countries located in the region. Providing problem solving by modifying the Profile Matching method is to start with delphi method in obtaining the determining criteria of research and weighting it with Borda technique. The criteria and weighting as the constituent criteria of the threat predictor country's strength profile, followed by the role so that the names of the threat predictor countries in Southeast Asia are obtained. The determination of the predictor state will facilitate in countermeasures or deal with it as well as provide actual information of where the threat comes from and the disertor criteria where the country can be weakened by Indonesia.   Keywords: Strategic Position, threat, Southeast Asia Country, Profile Matching, Borda Method.

Conserving the traditional Malay Kutai houses as our building heritage is important before they perish due to neglection. For maintenance purposes, the palm leave roofs are replaced with more durable materials such as zinc or onduline roof sheets. Replacing the building materials without understanding their properties could cause harmful effect on the indoor thermal comfort. Previously, there is minimal quantitative research done to prove that the traditional Malay house is thermally comfortable. Thus, this research intends to measure the thermal comfort parameters of Kutai house and analyse the result using a bioclimatic chart. The results revealed that the average thermal comfort conditions of the Kutai houses are within the boundaries of comfort zone as recommended for natural ventilated buildings despite using zinc roof.

The contribution of solar radiation on the global thermal comfort and local thermal comfort condition for a person sitting near a glass window in a building located in a tropical climate was studied. The effects of transmitted direct solar radiation, transmitted diffuse solar radiation, inside glass surface temperature and distance of a seated person from the glass window on the predicted percentage of dissatisfied (PPD) and plane radiant temperature asymmetry (RTA) were studied. PPD and RTA due to transmitted diffuse solar radiation and high inside glass surface temperature were decreased with the distance from the glass window. PPD was decreased exponentially with the distance from the glass window, while RTA was decreased slowly with the distance from the glass window. The findings show that PPD and RTA due to transmitted direct solar radiation striking the human body are not dependent on the distance from the glass window, but they are dependent on the magnitude and direction of the solar beam radiation incident on a human body. The results of the study would help the building designers to be able to design the interior working space for the tenant sitting near the glass window to achieve the acceptable level of thermal comfort condition.

In the context of global climate change and accelerated urbanization, the deterioration of the urban living environment has had a serious negative impact on the life of residents. However, studies on the effects of forms and configurations of outdoor spaces in residential areas on the outdoor thermal environment based on the particularity of climate in severe cold regions are very limited. Through field measurements of the thermal environment at the pedestrian level in the outdoor space of residential areas in three seasons (summer, the transition season and winter) in Harbin, China, this study explored the effects of forms and configurations of three typical outdoor spaces (the linear block, the enclosed block, and the square) on the thermal environment and thermal comfort using the Physiologically Equivalent Temperature (PET). The results show that the thermal environment of all outdoor space forms was relatively comfortable in the transition season but was uncomfortable in summer and winter. The full-enclosed block with a lower sky view factor (SVF) had a higher thermal comfort condition in summer and winter. The linear block with higher buildings and wider south–north spacing had a higher thermal comfort condition in summer and winter. When the buildings on the south side were lower and the south–north spacing was wider, the thermal environment of the square was more comfortable in winter.
